Tab s book cover functionality? - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

What are your thoughts for everyday use guys? Has functionality and usability been compromised with design? I'm checking the reviews and I'm worried the flap at the back can get annoying because it does not hold unto place unless you set the magnets in.
What about long term use and wear?

In order to keep things in one place the posts that were made in this thread have been moved to the following thread that will serve as general book cover discussion thread.

Awesome cases/battery covers

I am in no way associated with the seller.
I found these really nice cases and thought everyone should know. They are an actual battery cover.

Bit spensy though....?

This should be posted in the accessories section.
These are nice but is for anycall not the vibrant, it has the stupid cut for the TV antenna.
Thanks for posting anyway.

way too expensive they don't even look good
by the way it's obviously just a piece of cloth/leather stuck on top of a phone backplate
even their picture shows that
if you are skilled at doing handy works, you can skin it yourself with whatever material you want to use and get the same look

Case that snaps shut, holding top and bottom half together?

Does anyone know of a case that is like all the snap-on cases on the market yet holds the two halves of the phone together? I envision a little clip with a button by the microphone or something that, when depressed, releases the top half of the phone to expose the keyboard.
Anything like this out there???
Thanks!

Apparently there is a an email addres seidio has created to gage interest in a case such as this. see in this thread...

This thread is for a belt clip holster. I am looking for a case that covers the phone and holds the two halves together (via a locking closure), nothing like the innocase holster that this thread is talking about. I'm seriously thinking about doing some DIY action on a case. I'm baffled that a company has yet to make a case that addresses the "loose hinge" design of the phone...

Well they are just covering their butts by helping HTC deny that their is even a problem. If they develope product that claims to solve it then it may hurt future business relations if not bring forth some kind of lawsuit from HTC.
Sure when there's thousands of forum threads in many languages across the web aswell as a bankrupting amount of returns due to this issue.. it's still an "unofficial issue" until an important party makes it so.

Ya it's really frustrating. I accept that it's the "design" of the phone. I just want an option outside of a DIY method to help keep it closed. Shucks..

Yeah mine is loose too, annoying even when the phone is closed. Scotch tape is your only answer!
But I love the keyboard...

I think the best answer for a case would be a small magnet in the case to hold the two parts together until you want to separate them. I think you might be able to DIY with an existing case, a strong magnet, and some strong glue (i don't thing super glue will work because I don't think magnet is a non-porous substance). I would try it with some tape and see how it works before breaking out the glue. Tape/glue it to the case, not the phone, so that if it goes wrong you wont be stuck with it on your phone. I'm not sure about the long term effects of a magnet right next to the phone is though, and i definitely wouldn't use anything too strong, because the innards of you phone are made from metal, and it could rip something loose or play around with you flash memory. Let us know how it goes for you, or if someone finally makes a case which addresses this issue.
+1 to the magnet idea. i've given this idea some thought too but my level of lifehackery is too noob too attemp. i do see 2 pads on the keyboard side of the phone that could possibly be a good place to put magnets if the opposing side on the screen is hollow or if the magnet is thin enough. another thought...
double sided tape?
I jest...

Using magnetic tape on the sides of the keyboard has been talked about a lot and attempted by some people with success (do a search for it, there are pics of the mod).
There was also a case posted in this forum a while back that actually did have a clip that snapped the two halves together. Can't remember what it was called though.
Edit: Here is a link to that case: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916060.

[Q] Docking station and Car Dock while in Otterbox Defender

I've never understood why the bulkier case makers don't also make docks for the phones in their cases, would seem an obvious opportunity to me.
Anyway, does anyone know of a dock and a car dock that'll take an S4 while it's in a Otterbox Defender case? I have no intention of stripping the whole phone down every time I want to leave it on my desktop or put it in my car.
Otterbox Defender = Good
Lack of suitable docks = Bad

Good grief, did you even both to search?
It only takes like 5 seconds to title-only search the forum for "dock".
And you'll find like ten threads specifically asking about the same exact question for the same exact case.
I'm responsible for one of the threads myself.
No offense, but we all get a little tired of the same exact questions posted over and over every week by people who have obviously not done any searching first.

Good grief Eddie, did you bother to check and see that search is currently not working on the forum?
So did you find anything?
edit added below
What's even funnier is search is now back up and searching S4 accessories for dock and otterbox or dock and defender only throws up this thread.
Perhaps in future you'll not shoot from the hip partner?
further edit added below.
Eddie where is your thread talking about docks for the otterbox defender on the S4?
If you're talking about this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267166
neither Otterbox or Defender are mentioned in the thread.
My bad, you're right. Google was down too.

NP, I agree it can be annoying.

Anyone?

i ABSOULTELY AGREE.
Third-party case manufacturers could make a killing creating docks for the phones that are inside their products.
I have nothing more to offer here, I posted so I can keep track of this thread just in case someone comes up with any relevant info - like you guys, I've scoured the net and haven't come up with anything fruitful.
I'm currently just using a Scosch holder with the official Samsung charger, but it's cumbersome and a pain and causes unnecessary strain on the micro USB because of the way it has to mount in my truck.
Anyway, ideas are always welcome!
Otterbox Defender cases are awesome, I just wish that someone would create some type of dock that accommodates the case and has some functionality (charging, audio jack access, etc.)

LG V10 cases

Post pictures of your cases, its distinctive features and why you chose to go with them!
I'll be the first - I've ordered the Spigen case with kickstand, can't wait to get it. I chose it primarily due to the kickstand - I first download YT videos, transfer them onto my phone and watch them later.
EDIT: never mind, didn't look; feel free to delete this thread.
I'd suggest you check the accessories subforum..

NILLKIN Nature slim case... it has a flap over the power port?!? Yours too?

So I got the Nillkin Nature case from China that everyone has been raving about. It does look GREAT and it's super thin! But I was disappointed to find that it has a flap over the power port on the bottom of the phone. It appears intentional, not some sort of defect. Does yours have the same thing? It seems like something that is just going to wear out over time and end up sticking up.
Thanks for your feedback!
I feel like if a case had an odd design element it would have been discussed before? perhaps you should check the threads where people are raving about it and do some investigatory work!

I have been tracking the "slimmest case" thread (which is very long) where I heard all about the case and no one mentioned it that I recall. Hence my wonder. Maybe it's something that everyone just likes? That thread is so difficult to deal with because it discusses many cases - I thought I would hit the issue separately.
Yes it's obviously normal and made for it. I like it and don't mind it, but if you do just cut it off

I too follow that thread and it was mentioned in one of the comments there. I personally don't like it either and will try to see how much it annoys me once I get the case.
I have the case and HATE the USB port cover. I'd cut it off but don't run the case due to it not fitting properly with DBrand skin on the phone. I just don't understand why they even put it on there, don't think many people really would care if it didn't have it.
