Running currently cm 10.1 #165 - when I'm listening to music the DSP equalizer just shuts down randomly - music is going on, just without the eq. Apparantly the only way of fixing this is restart the music player.
Also, sometimes it takes ages to switch the track via the volume buttons.
Any ideas what might cause this? I tried the usual (clear cache, clear app data) with no effects.

Wellp, the cause is apparantly when the phone switches from 3g to edge .. now this is strange.
Can be reproduced if 3g is currently available: Start music, enable 2g only mode, DSP crashes as soon as the phone switches to edge.

If you're referring to the modem which comes with the JB update - nope, still running on the modem which comes with stock 4.0.4. Totally forgot about that .. should the latest modem (e.g. mirrored by kilrooy here - or is there a newer one?) fix that issue?
Your modem crashes your phone and updating it hasn't occurred to you? LOL. In answer to your question, you tell me if it works.
As of right now we are not *requiring* users to upgrade but as soon as 3.4 goes live it will be required for functionality.

I somehow didn't see the connection / forgot completely that I didn't update the modem, lol.
So I've updated it.. seems the issue isn't completely gone. If the phone connection reestablishes for whatever reasons there is just a little interruption in playing music, but dsp does not crash.
However, yesterday it crashed two times while there were no connection issues.. one time screen on, other time screen off.

ANSWER:
The Moto G has Miracast support from the hardware, but it is disabled by default on 4.3. If you want to enable it you need to modify this build.prop: persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
With the 4.4.2 update it is enabled by default.
Original question:
Hello,
Do you guys see any hardware related reasoning behind the wireless display option missing from the Moto G?
Wifi direct is working perfectly and I don't see why is that piece of software is missing.
/M
Hm.. good one.
Most probably because of the low price. "Want this? Try Moto X"

It's possible under the KitKat update, the option is restored according to a screengrab on another thread.

since then I found, that it is possible to enable the option through modifying the build props even on 4.3. Do you know if you have seen it on stock 4.4.2?

Build.prop needs to be modified to enable screen mirroring. It is a small change in one line from 0 to 1
persist.debug.wfd.enable=1
Reboot and there should be an option for screen share in settings.

Miracast
Has anyone managed to get Miracast working using a PTV3000 (push2tv) Netgear device with the Moto G after this amendment?
Would really appreciate any feedback on this.

Does anyone know around this situation??
So i have 4.4.2 Kitkat on my retail (phones4u) Moto G , bu there is no wireless display option ?
I notice it was before the update that people were saying its included in KK , but i have not seen anyone since confirm this.

it is there, but missing the part where you can enable it. settings/display/cast screen
there should be a menu button (which is missing) where you could switch it on

I have this Miracast dongle: http://www.ebay.com/itm/WIFI-Displa...-AirPlay-Wireless-TV-Share-NEW-/380780733199?
My phone does make a connection to the dongle with Wifi direct (see pic). Also under Wifi settings --> Wifi direct it lists the connection as active. According to the manual of the dongle, when it says 'Ready to display', it should start the screen casting. Unfortunately it doesn't. It also doesn't show anything under display --> cast screen.
Everything seems to be in place with the connection. I'm wondering whether our devices miss the supporting hardware, or that it's just a disabled setting by Motorola to not cannibalize on the Moto X.
Up for this
I was looking for Miracast dongle for my TV to link it with the G, because of the cast option after kk update...
But now i m not sure at all that the G can do it :silly:
can you please share your experiences with Moto g cast?

On latest kitkat, with root I was able to change the for mentioned build property, then I was able to enable wireless display and LG 660s TV showed up and I was able to duplicate my scree with around half a second lag perfectly. Afterwards however I was not able to reconnect, somehow it tries to connect multiple times and kills the previous connection. I read somewhere that it's the TV's fault, but I cannot be sure until I try out with an other one

I was very keen to try this feature, so I updated the Google Search app to the latest one (3.5.14). Sadly, the feature has not yet provided to my google account, and so I wait.
But funny things happened this morning after I flash the developer version of Android L to my Nexus 5. There was an screen prompting me to say "OK Google" 3 times to activate Google Now on any screen. There were 3 options in my Google Now Voice settings: enable it from home screen, any screen, and lock screen.
I was indeed very surprised and delightful, however such a thing only last 3 minutes. It suddenly stopped. As for now I speak, 2 of those 3 options in voice settings are gone. However there is still an option to enable Audio History (image attached).
I'm guessing this is because the OK Google on any screen is location based and currently only works on several countries picked by Google itself. If that's the case I'm very certain the Americans will be the first. Can someone clarify?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
It isn't regional. Its random Google Accounts.
I'm not sure, I'm in America and I had it working before and now it's not. Weird. I just tried again and I can't get it working. Maybe something on Google's end? I'm lost, too.

Well it's good to know it's not merely my fault. At first I began to think my voice is not qualified for activating Google Now lol.

I had the same issue. I was on Android L and after about a day of using it, the options appeared. The text said "when screen is on OR charging" so I was curious to see if we could get always listening while charging. I put it on the charger and the options disappeared and never came back. I'm back on 4.4.4 and I still don't see it.
It's definitely server sider on Google's end. I too had it for a little bit, but it is now gone as well. Google is deploying it per account like they do with anything so it's not fully available yet and ready for use. Expect to see it enabled over the next few weeks.
There's already a fix! http://www.reddit.com/r/Nexus5/comments/29qya0/if_you_do_not_have_ok_google_everywhere_on_your/

Hello, I have issue with screen casting, it doesn't work, it finds my chromecast, but when I select it it says immediately disconnecting so I cannot mirror my screen (wireless display is enabled). Casting with apps like youtube, photos, etc works perfect. Anyone knows what's the problem ? I'm on stock 4.4.4 rooted, with xposed, latest play services.
Chromecast firmware no is 19084.
Tried rebooting router, rebooting chromecast, rebooting and wiping cache on phone, still the same.
Thanks

Have you tried to disable the AP isolation on your router settings? I've tried this because its in google recommendations.

I have lg smart tv with webos, but when i tap on "cast screen" on my nexus device it won't find my tv. Streaming video via dlna works good. Do you know how to fix this problem?
Viper for Android screws it up. Otherwise go to settings/apps/all. And Google play services and uninstall updates right back to stock. And clear data. And force stop. Then go into an app that requires it's usage and it'll automatically update again sorting out the issues.

I received my 360 cam yesterday and updated/installed the software for it but I still can't get it to work. The app opens fine and will connect to the camera but will either say it is unavailable or will display the image from the camera before closing and going to the home screen and saying it's unavailable. It also won't recognise the micro as card I put in that works perfectly with every other device I have used it in.

Had these same problems with mine. Oddly enough fixed it completely when I uninstalled my VPN adblocking app... disabled the adblocking didn't work, but uninstalling did. Very strange.
This camera still sucks though as far as I can tell. Apparently it's not compatible with Google Cardboard... like.. seriously? I haven't found any way to view 360 degree videos in a side-by-side manner to support Cardboard. Your options are apparently just moving the phone around in a non-VR fashion, or buy LG's own headset....?

Phone connects to device (Bluetooth for initial connection, then WiFi direct). Makes sense that VPNs would cause issues
Anyways, the workflow is kinda weird... if you mount the camera/SD card and download the raw video, the Raw video consists of two circles with no optical corrections(black borders around the two circles)
See photo under #1 for an example: http://mediashift.org/2016/05/6-things-i-learned-about-shooting-360-videos/
If you download the video through the app/WiFi correction(very slowly, 1MB/s), you get a optically corrected/merged video (no black bars)
First screenshot in link below
https://havecamerawilltravel.com/photographer/360-video-ricoh-theta-facebook
Video #2 plays properly with the lg app(and other cardboard apps). Video #1 doesn't...
So this means I need to download videos from device very slowly (to get the optically corrected video) instead of dumping the raw video via microsd/cable, to watch it on my phone, or postprocess on my computer
Thanks for the replys. I am using ad blocking so I play around with it in the morning.
The more I understand about LGs "friends" implementation the more I feel like they have set themselves up for a failure.
It seems like using Bluetooth or even a direct usb connection would have been a much better way to go instead of Wi-Fi for the 360 cam. Not being a programmer though I'm not sure if it would even be feasible to use a connection other than Wi-Fi.

Yeah mine disconnects constantly over Wi-Fi. Seems to be no range on it, so you're force to be in every scene. Not being a very good friend.

LG 360 Camera Connection Problem Fixed
I had the same problem, not being able to connect to my 360 camera.
Here's the solution.
Turn the camera on, do not open the camera manager.
go to wifi on your phone.
look for LG camera wifi.....
if it is already familiar with it, press forget network.
press on the network name again and try to connect, it will prompt you for a password.
the password should be 00 followed by the last 6 digits of the serial no of the CAM
it should connect
open the camera manager again and everything should be fine
I was about to give up before seeine this advice. Going to try it shortly. Hope it solves the problem.
Thank you.
I wonder whether you know about this problem.
LG 360 Cam suddenly shut down after I switched on the power button every time.. sigh... Kindly help as it is only about 6 months old...
My LG 360 wi-fi does not even become visible. I can see its bluetooth but it won't pair. The LG 360 Cam Manager app cannot connect to the camera either.
I'm running the latest firmware and have the latest version of LG Bridge. I've also reset the 360 cam a number of times but not luck. It's basically a paperweight at the moment. Any ideas?
Try to check the w-lan visibility of your 360 cam with your router or an other smartphone.
Maybe the problem happens only to your phone.

Thanks. For whatever reason I can see the LG's wifi signal on my phone today. My phone can connect to the wifi but when I open up the app it is unable to connect to the 360 and eventually disconnects from the wifi signal.
Progress from yesterday but still a mystery why it no longer connects.
Is it me having user error or stupidity of lg... When connected to the camera via WiFi direct I have no data connection. ( You can't use wifi and mobile data at the same time) so how in the hell do I check for updated software?????????

It is because of LG. I understand why they did it that way and I'm not sure if there is another way they could have done it without a tethered connection. You use the "LG Friends" manager app to do the updates.
