[Q] Accessing Messages and Contacts Samsung GT-E1200 - General Questions and Answers

Hello
I have broke 5 of the sim card pins in the simbay.
When I turn the phone on and try to access the phonebook or messages it prompts me to "Insert Sim Card".(Everything else like games, calender is accessible)
The messages and contacts are stored on the phone, So I dont understand why they programmed the phone to require a simcard to access this.
Does anybody know how I can access this data? I was wondering if I brought a USB data cable would allow me to access it somehow?
Thanks in advance.

Getting contacts onto SIM

What is the easiesit way to get all of my contacts onto the SIM?
Sometimes, I leave my XDA II behind and use my SPV. I'd like to just swap SIMs and take the contacts with me.
Is there a quick way to do this?
Can the contacts be permantly on the SIM and still sync with ActiveSync?
Thanks in anticipation.
i believe that the sim manager does that

here if your rom dont have it
otherwise i suppose you could enter contacts and open the keyboard and press ctrl a and choose all contacts and tab and choose save to sim
Thanks Rudegar. That worked.
Interestingly, with Radio Off it doesn't allow copying of the contacts the the SIM.
I've no idea why. Just seems a bit odd.
well if i go flight mode on and off
i have to retype my pincode so that could make one asume
that when it's off the whole sim is off

Read SIM Card

using Windows Mobile here.
is there any way I can read the SIM Card? I need to recover or analyse deleted text messages (even after you deleted it from the deleted items folder).
is there software that exists that will do this even if I connect the phone via USB or even on the device itself?
I heard something about it but not sure whether is really exist. Try to search the net for sms recovery.
I bought a PC/SC USB SIM Card reader and tried to use a data recovery sim software. but it doesnt seem to see anything on the SIM Card at all!
so I wonder how text messages are stored on the SPV C500?
I really would like, in any way possible, to try and analyse and recover the text messages/sms

Click to collapse
While in messaging, Press Menu button>Settings then select Manage SIM Card Messages
Thanks so much! This is my first smartphone, so I appreciate the fact even the most elementary questions (read: my dumb question) are answered.

I had a message popping up saying "SIM card full, delete messages". I would click on this message, and it would open the standard messaging app called: Messaging. I kept going through and deleting all my SIM messages (unknowingly using the Messaging app at this time) and then it would automatically refresh, only to show me all the exact same SIM messages, not deleted.
Textra was set as my default messaging app.
To resolve this issue and finally delete all my SIM messages, I had to activate the de-activated Messaging app, click on settings->manage SIM messages->select all the messages and delete them. This finally refreshed to show no more SIM messages. I then re-activated Textra and everything was back to normal.
How do I retrieve a message that I moved to a secure box of my HTC desire android

[Q] HTC 8X Windows 8 - AT&T - Backing Up Entire Phone

Hi people!
I have an HTC Windows 8X phone locked to AT&T.
I'm a newbie to the forum so please don't hang me for asking but is there any way to backup other phone info besides your app settings?
I had to do a reset but using the cloud backup only allowed my programs and a few other things.
My phonebook, wireless settings, email settings, icon placement etc had to all be redone.
I know it does the apps, pix and texts but I'd at least like to have my phonebook if nothing else.
I had my old phonebook copied from my old phone (a Moto on AT&T) and they (AT&T) copied my phonebook from the old
SIM to the new one. I was then able to copy from the SIM to the phone... but you can't copy back to the SIM so any and all
contact updates and corrections can't be stored on the SIM again for future transfers back and they aren't backed up to the cloud.
I actually do like the phone, I just wish they'd give you more options as to what to back up so I don't have to wind up
writing down all my contacts for manual re-entry should something go haywire.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks!

Anyone here able to save contacts directly to smartphone device only?

Anyone here able to save contacts directly to smartphone device only without being forced to save all your personal and private contacts on some cloud server..?
You should be able to select "sim only" when adding a new contact. It kinda sucks because sim cards can't hold as much info and if you lose it, you lose everything.
You can turn off contact sync under your Google account settings. That "should " prevent them syncing. I never tried it though.
