hey, I downloaded motorola drivers for win xp, but it doesn't allow me to transfer files directly to/from the phone, instead I have to use a sync app, such as media player and so. how can I make it able to transfer files with more ease?
thanks

Install Windows Media Player 11 first, reboot and you should have MTP working, if not then just install SP3.

I've not installed anything on the phone before.
I tried to copy a cab file to the SD card but I've got problems as the phone thinks there is no SD card present.
Can I copy the cab file to the phone's memory? I cannot see the phones memory through explorer on my PC though do I need some special software?
Srry if this is a stupid question I did search but found nothing
Try installing MS ActiveSync. Connect the HD2 to the PC using the usb cable. Once installed, you will be able to see the HD2's files in Windows Explorer. Just copy the cab file to a folder. Disconnect the phone and launch the cab file from the phone's file manager.
Cheers
Microsoft says Active Synch will only work with XP SP2 and earlier I have XP SP3.
Is there anything else I can use?
What does everybody else do - do you not install anything via PC to the phone?

For Vista or Windows 7 the used tool is called Microsoft Mobile Device Center (MSDC). For Windows XP (even SP3) active sync has to be used. Did you try it to install? I´m sure that it will work.
To install applications at your mobile device do the following steps:
a) connect it via active sync
b) using your PC´s Explorer to copy the cab-file containing your application to your mobile device and remember the place you copied it
c) disconnect your mobile device
d) using your mobile device´s go to the directory you copied the cab-file and start it
This way your application will be installed
But I´m sure you would have found the answer without asking here. Mr. Google knows it already

XP SP3 here, ActiveSync works with no problems.
As to the installing files to device - you may run out of memory soon, so I'd suggest buying even the smallest card (although preferably min 2GB, if you intend to toy with SD Android at some time)
I have problems with MTP on my Windows PC.
When I create a new folder my explorer.exe crashes. It also fails if I want to copy more than 2-3 files (for example an music album).
Is there a way to reinstall the MTP drivers?
Happens with Nexus 5 +7 2
Same problem with my Windows Laptop (win 8) and my Windows PC (win 8)
P.S. On a mac it also crashes when i try to transfer large files...

I have been having similar issues with MTP on Linux with multiple phones. I think its an issue with MTP in Android and not Windows/ OSX/ Linux. I have tried the same phones on Windows 7 / 8 / 2012 and all behave the same way.

I have not found a way around it. I just had to keep transfering 1 folder at a time, and just keep trying till it successfully copies. I have had to do with with LG Optimus G, HTC One, Galaxy Nexus, and Nexus 5. All phones did the same thing. Randomly erroring out on copying to or from the device.

Yea, I believe the problem is that MTP allows for computer and phone to still access the storage at the same time.
Do you guys know what's the problem?
I can't transfer files from/to my PC, windows don't recognize my phone (only opening " found new hardware") and also, when I check "Media device (MTP) on my Moto G I don't see notification that my mobile is connected to PC (before it was showing that notification).
I previously installed MTP driver from microsoft page, also Windows Media Player 11 and motorola drivers and it was working.
Then due some problems with my OS I performed system restore and now I have this problems.
I already installed MTP drivers from microsoft, WMP 11 and also motorola device manager. My device still remains unrecognized. Any ideas?
anyone
I tried enabling debugging mode, still not working even after update it is not working. What the hell is that?

Listen dude, first of all, you should update, because Windows XP is a pain in the a**.
Other thing, press Windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc, enter and search for an Android device.
If you found it, then download the Google USB Drivers and install.
I have 4 android devices and I have a Dell laptop running on Windows 8. Whenever I connect any of my devices to laptop it gets detected. But whenever I try to move file to and fro, the windows explorer just restarts all by itself and no transfer takes. I tried doing the same using my office laptop running on windows 8 and works perfectly fine. So something must be wrong with laptop. Is there anything I need to do my laptop to fix this? Somebody please me out with this.

Try Android commander or Total Commander + ADB plugin. It works great, if the phone is rooted you can go anywhere.
Installed drivers a few times. Win 10 shows my 6 as windows phone. Didn't before I reloaded windows.
When you plug the phone, be sure to activate the transfer mode in the phone settings.
Drivers are included in a folder as a mounted device in "computer"
Yeah
I did that I can see the files on the phone but shows as win phone in devices and shows windows driver
A OK.
Is that a problem?

*Win 10 no longer sees the phone period. Under file explorer or in devices. Tried reloading phone and usb drivers numerous times.
Kinda sucks as I can't transfer files, root, twtp etc
So it used to work but now it isn't?
It won't solve your problem but if you need to transfer files you can still use a ftp (numerous apps on the store). Just mount it as a network folder using the local ip the app gives you
I give for now
