The new "OK Google Everywhere" settings appeared in the search app, but I can't move on from this screen...

Saying OK Google 3 times does nothing, and actually seems to have broken the OK Google functionality altogether. I can't use it on my home screen or even within the search app anymore. Regular voice searches work fine when tapping the microphone icon, but that's it. I've disabled and re-enabled "OK Google" and rebooted the phone with no results.
I'm fully stock, by the way. What could the issue be?
UPDATE: Well, the problem seemed to have sorted itself out after letting the phone sit for an hour. I picked it up and was able to use "OK Google" and complete the setup. Strange.
I've got the same issue. Voice activation just doesn't seem to work and i have the hollow mic icon as well on the search bar. I'm running the L preview btw.

My microphone was filled in, indicating that there shouldn't have been an issue. The issue fixed itself, though I'm not sure what would affect it running Android L.
This screen was very sensitive to voice.
I tried various voice styles, and finally got a certain voice tone to work. Said that 3 times continuously, and it got activated and works fine.
Previously, with other voice tones, it would cross one mark, but the 2nd one wouldnt. Or the 3rd wouldnt.
same here
Stuck on setting up google everywhere.. Does anyone have solution thx

Simply put, I cannot get Skype to work on my Touch Pro.
I can use it to chat, but the option to talk is there, but I cannot select it.
I found a few instances of this happening on Windows Mobile 6.1 around the web, but no consensus on how to fix it.
Can you elaborate a little as to why it does not work? What happens when you open? Have you tried the obviouse which is to uninstall and soft reset and re-install? Throw a little more up so we can help you. _SDL
I did try to uninstall and re-install complete with a soft reset, yes. I also tried this with both versions of Skype mobil offered on Skype.com.
Basically, when you launch the program, a list of your contacts are displayed.
I can click on a contact and bring up their detailed information.
However, I can only click to chat and cannot click to talk. The image below is taken from my home computer as I do not have the screen capture feature installed on my phone. Now on my phone the red phone icon would be grayed out and you are not ale to click on it to do a voice call. You are able to fully click on the chat icon, though.

I have the same problem, I think.
You can sign in OK, but all of the contacts appear off-line (even though I know they are not). If a contact is selected, the chat button is enabled, but the voice call button is disabled.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no effect.
I tried changing the options (Wifi on/off, etc). No effect.
Yes, exactly.
Sorry I cannot edit my post to fix the image, but I keep getting a server error.
Doh!!!
The answer was that I had my status set to "offline".
Set it to "Online" and it works OK (except that it uses the back speaker - that's the next thing I need to get sorted).
Hi all!
This has been doing my head in for a couple of weeks now... I have NO idea why its just started doing it ether!
I ALWAYS have the stream audio symbol on my phone...

Even straight after a reboot, and when I play my own music, it goes, but comes straight back after I have stopped.
I checked my GF's Samsung omnia 7, and that has it on too
Anyone shed some light as to why???
I noticed this too, sometimes. But when I press the small streaming symbol, whatsapp opens...
EDIT: Maybe Whatsapp is using the same trick as the homebrew app that keeps your wifi allive during locked screen.
EDIT2: Indeed, as soon as I run whatsapp, the streaming icon appears. I tried this by stoping the player completely (using "Stop the Music" app) and the icon was gone. I then ran whatsapp and voila, it's there.
Yeah, your correct, when I tapped the symbol, whats app opened up...
never even noticed it started doing it when Whatsapp updated.
REALLY annoying... hopefully it will be fixed...
I go into whatsapp, and it goes, then as soon as you exit whatsapp, it comes back on
I dont even have Wi-Fi on.
i know why it is there, one or more messages on Whatsapp are not sent to the contact with which you have texted, i tested it these days with two devices, if i go with one "offline" turn internet off and send from the other a message to it, on the "sender" WP7 this appears in the volume bar with the music controls... if i turn my "receiver" device again on internet online, the message will be delivered and on the "sender" device the icon disappears. Strange but i think this is a bug, i don't want the music controls to be visible if i not listen to music...
Recently I replaced all of my Google apps with inverted ones, if you don't know what inverted apps are, they're basically apps that are dark themed, for example where black replaces white and white replaces black.
Anyway, the voice typing, or voice-to-text is working everywhere in my phone such as the Google Now search box on my home screen, AOSP Messaging, Hangouts, basically everywhere... but isn't working at all in Chrome.
Well actually, its kind of working. Take a look at these screenshots to see what I'm talking about...
Here you can see its picking up my voice just fine...

...and here you can see it is successfully processing my voice just like it does in any other app...
Then here is where it simply stops working and doesn't input the text from my voice into the Google Chrome address bar.
Here is where you can clearly see it is working, or trying to anyway. In this screenshot I said some jibberish and of course it couldn't understand it so it returned this message. So as you can see its working perfectly like it is in every other app except in Chrome it just won't input the words that it hears.
I don't understand, and the only thing I can think of that being different than other apps where its working perfectly is that in Chrome the mic isn't on the keyboard, its on the address bar.
Does anyone know of a fix or what's going on or have any answers? If not, can someone help troubleshoot this with me that might have a better idea of what's going on than I do?
I have searched all over the internet and couldn't find anything helpful. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!
Any time my phone is in car mode (large back & home buttons) I'm unable to access Google Assistant. If I say "OK Google" or long press on Home, I hear the chime, but the phone neither pauses to listen, nor does the Assistant screen open.
It does not matter whether I'm running Android Auto or any other car mode launcher. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? If so, I consider it a bug, because hands-free operation is its most useful when diving.
It is not a bug, Google said that it will be updated to incorporate "OK, Google" but it has yet to be implemented. Look up Drivemode in play store it works great! And you can use "OK, Google"
I'll look at Drivemode (there are several apps by that name) which I assume is a launcher app.
Any want want to bet Google will enable a stripped down version of Assistant for their own Android Auto, but keep it disabled for car mode in general?
I wasn't planning to root my Pixel, but if rooting will let me bypass this deliberate bug, I'll gladly trade Android Pay for a fully functioning phone. I wonder if there is a ROM or Xposed fix this?
Even without android auto, my brother can use okay google in his truck. He has it connected via Bluetooth and a button on his steering wheel will activate it.
Google assistant works fine one 2015 Hyundai Sonata with Android auto
I believe this is the setting that enables that feature in the new updates.

Assistant is intentionally disabled for any car mode launcher except Android Auto. No setting changes will override that.
It sucks and is a customer hostile decision by Google to lock you into using their apps.
Yeah so I'm running pixel experience based on android 11 and Google Assistant is acting really weird. Tbh I don't really know if it's because of the rom it not but I enrolled in the Google app beta quite a while ago (although I've unenrolled now) cause I wanted to experience that new Assistant UI earlier. Well now it only shows the new UI when I'm logged in with one of the 3 Google accounts I have on my phone. Also when I press on Unlock new features, and it comes to the Alarm routine screen, pressing next crashes the screen. I'm a complete noob and I'll be really grateful if anyone could help me out.

Found a post on Reddit that mentioned this - thought it was utter rubbish but ... It worked for me.
Change your settings to light mode (disable dark mode) and try again and it'll proceed.
