Looking for a Desk Charger/cradle w/ extra battery slot?
Any suggestions?
unless its a Qi charger you are not going to find anything, well, I'll assume this, because of the flap for the charging port. not sure why they didnt just waterproof the port, it causes so many issues.

Ahh yes, I didn't think about that. I've seriously been considering removing that. other than it not being fully waterproof, is there any downfall in doing that?

Really liking my new TF but does anyone else think that the charging connector is a bit delicate? If this breaks there is NO other way to charge the unit (I don't have a dock yet).
Why didn't they use a mini/micro usb? ALL my phones have these and I can interchange chargers...also if they had used a standard connector, I could have a charger at home, one at work, one in the car...
I must order a spare now...

It seems pretty resistant to abuse. I've abused mine a lot (being squashed inbetween furniture, being banged, being slammed) and no damage at all yet.
Seems sturdy enough to me...
Sturdy is fine. What happens if you lose it?
I'm generally very kind to my gear (my two year old car still smells new, says my coworkers!), and it doesn't take a lot of effort to be gentle, but I still worry about single-point-of-failure situations like the cable and charger. Especially since spares are pretty much not yet available.
I'm just hoping my good luck with not losing or breaking **** holds out!

Then you haven't seen the XOOM charger... It's a metal pin, about 1.5 mm thick and not even inserting all the way. The ASUS connector seems just fine. Plus, a very similar connector has been used in Apple products for years and they kept it

Get a new one, apparently there ARE spare cables available now or in the very near future.

I asked Asus via email a few days ago regarding replacement chargers, the response i got i have pasted below for you -
"At the moment they (adapters) are not available yet.
Kind regards,
Asus UK Support Team"
I was hoping for an ETA being given, but looks like they dont know when they will be available, or they are just not saying.

pictures are out, I'm pretty sure there is even a page up somewhere where you can pre-order them or atleast get auto notifcation for when they get released.
I think it is sturdy enough unless youre going out of your way to abuse it just like any other device
The sturdiness doesn't bother me, it's the ridiculously short length of the cable. I can't even charge it on my desk, I have to set it on a shelf out of sight to charge. Hopefully my second stab at a USB 3 extension cable will charge it.

Mostly because those cables can't carry enough power to do the job with these larger batteries. Hell, the TF can't charge on USB unless the screen is off. That shows how much power it needs.
i was wondering if anyone has modded they're phone to use the power mat or if they developed the case for it yet? i looked around and found nothings
I had mine working with a Palm Pre Touchstone but one of my soldered wires broke and I haven't bothered to fix it. I think I will though, it's so convenient, and I have 6 touchstones... The only downside is that it charges slowly.

i was thinking of grabbing that touchstone cover and pad but i was wondering if the cover still works for my powermat. and did you use the s2 tutorial on the tmobile s2 forums? and how slow is the charge?
I don't know if it will or will not work with the Powermat, I haven't tried it myself. As for how slow, I don't have exact numbers, it was more of a gut feeling.

So I fixed my Touchstone back and tested it out. If I use a 1A charger direct to the phone I get around 890-900 mAh charging rate, with the Touchstone I get around 485-490 mAh, so it's pretty much half as fast as without it. Overnight that shouldn't make a difference, depends on your usage pattern.

Never really liked power mat except for my xbox 360 controller. I would rather just use a cord.

I did something similar for my nexus 4 and want to to my wife's Skyrocket.
Did you buy that usb nub? or do you make it? I made mine, but as pictured it sticks out the bottom some (not my favorite)

I made it. I took a micro-usb cable, cut off the cable, removed the plastic coating, shortened it a bit, soldered on some wire, and then re-shaped it with Sugru (moldable silicone putty). I haven't used it in awhile though, one of the wires broke off the charging circuit and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
Checked thru the master list and didnt see anything. i guess since its inductive charging that everyone is going with that for charging?
Without pogo pins, a "good" dock can't exist (IMHO) without inductive charging as you still have to deal with something plugging in to the USB port. I went with the LG/Verizon charger and have not had any issues (heat/charging) thus far. I don't expect the Google offering anytime soon, if at all.

i think we will see it. they have the prototype. its just a matter of when. its quite possible... to save money they will just sell an arm and dock. then have us buy the orb separately. then they can sell twice as many orbs and lower the price. i say this cause the dock in that video shows the same orb that sits on a table.

Possibly, but we're still waiting for the Nexus 7 dock.
Hey
I need some help, my charging wire has completely broken, and I am looking for a new one. IS there any where that still sell this wire? Otherwise my tablet has pretty much been rendered useless if i cannot charge it.
Will any wire work with the charging plug that is USB and what ever the other end of the wire connector is ? I don't know where to find such a wire to replace my broken one.
Please help

That's for the charger too, and non-genuine cables have a tendency of not working

Good luck, if it doesn't work, you might need to look for a genuine cable, Ive heard a few people using generic ones having problems

Just a charging wire... look at the reviews and see which one you determine is best suited for you.
Have done a lot of searching on Amazon and still am unable to locate a good quality Type C to Type C 5V 3A desktop cradle. For that matter, I am unable to find a good quality cradle period. Anyone else have a suggestion?
They seen to be thin on the ground at the moment, any by thin on the ground I mean non existent...

I would not trust a cradle like that to hold a phone as large as the Nexus 6P to hold it just by the USB-C port.
Iam also looking for something like this. Iam thinking buying one that has type c end and connect the OEM charger that might work
I purchased the NXET dock after the review I read from Benson Leung giving it 5 stars. My first post so I can't post a direct link yet, but search 'NXET® Type-C Dock' on Amazon. The only thing I dislike is the cable is wired to the charger and cannot be removed. I had thought having only the Type-C port holding it up would cause issues, but I haven't had any problems and it charges pretty darn fast.
There's also one from Kidigi. Its similar if not the same as NXET's Type-C, but keep in mind Kidigi's first release wont fast charge and don't meet usb-c specs.
I don't think there's a proper fast charging dock yet. I'm using this spigen cradle which has a slot behind to plug in your charger and works well.

You'd think they would be able to just use a USB-C port on the back as well so that the dock simply acts as a cable extender of sorts. That way you could use whatever fast charger you want.

yup! These.
Okay, so it's not a charging cradle, but it only cost $2.79, and my stock charger plugs in just fine. Even sprung for one for the wife's MXP.
