[Q] How to hard reset xoom wifi

I picked up a xoom wifi from costco today and setup it up. But I'm unable to use it since i'm getting continuos FC's on application launcher.
I tried to hard reset but it's not working. Here is what i did.
1. Power button + volume down
2. Select Fastboot
But it is stuck here with "starting fastboot protocol support".
I tried couple of times to start over from beginning, but i keep getting stuck at this screen.
Any help is hard reset will be appreciated.
Soft reset = Up Volume + Power on for 3 seconds
Hard Reset = Factory Reset:
Factory Reset the Xoom

If Motorola XOOM tablet OS is not working then you can reset your device using hardware keys
• Turn your Motorola XOOM tablet off and then Turn the Tablet on again
• On start-up when you see the Motorola logo, press and hold theVolume Down key
• When you see the Android recovery text, press the Volume Up key to put XOOM tablet in recovery mode
• On the Android recovery screen, press and keep holding the Power button then press and release the Volume Up key
• Using Volume Down key navigate to Wipe data / factory reset option and press Powerbutton to select it
• Select Yes, delete all user data option using Power button
method-2
Reset Motorola XOOM from OS menu
• From XOOM home screen tap Apps > Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset
• To perform reset operation, tap and check the Erase USB storage option
• Tap the Reset tablet and then follow the given instructions on the tablet screen.
Should be a sticky.

Open the back cover, and you can find a small pin hole, between the camera and the speakers.
Its a very small hole.

This is only if you are experiencing a bootloop. If your phone is not entering download mode or recovery mode and even if a USB is not working.... As I told you the location of the hard reset button, just open the back flap and follow the instruction.
DO AT YOUR OWN RISK!
You will need two people for this.. Keep that pin hole pressed with a pin, then keeping it pressed try to enter the download mode- [Volume down + Home + Power button pursed]. Try it a couple of times and your phone will enter download mode
and then as you enter the download mode, flash to a stock firmware using odin.
Hit the THANKS button if it helped you !:thumbup:

Did you press the pin hole button carefully? Try using a thicker pin so that it is directly pressed.
Though I've never been struck hard, without the download mode, but this works fine on Samsung Galaxy sl i9003.

I tried again just now. It still wont start anything. I tried with small pin, a pen, a needle, paperclip. Nothing happen.

Well try to enter the download mode while after pressing the pin in the small hole behind.
Btw that button behind will work only if your phone is in soft brick mode. That is it atleast starts/vibrates, screen becomes little light blue when u try to start the phone.
U may need to flash the stock kernel
Try remove ur battery. Push three button to download mode (volume down+home+power). Reinsert battery while holding the button. Wait up to see phone enter download mode. If doesn't, repeat step with battery inserted in your phone. When phone enter the download mode I assume u know what to do next.

I assume you are not doing it correctly. Otherwise soft bricked generally do not even require hard reset button generally.
First press the volume down, after a second or two, press home button. Then while holding other two buttons, press power button. Hold it till it vibrates.
Then, just leave the power button. After two or three sec, leave the other two buttons.
sometimes it's hard to get the download mode, then only you need to use reset button.

I could do hardware reset, but have now poor gsm signal!
I was on CM 10 alpha4 + nicsptl kernel (Had execllent signal strength even in bathroom, lift)
Due to bad battery life I decided to go back to stock. vai xxkpe > DDLF2
After flashing latona I could not get the phone in download mode so did hardware reset (reset btton between camera and speaker + download buttons (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411768)
I flshed xxkpe and DDLF2+ CF-root. Now I had a big signal drop problem!
So I flshed full xxkpe three times with full data wipes and falshed DDLF2 and CF-root. Same problem.
I thought CM10 + nicsptl might be better so I flashed them (flashed CM10 thrice + gapps to be sure)
Same signal problem!
Flashed signal-fix kernel, cleared dalvik same issue!
I read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776211
So I think the reason is not modem or sim. It has to do with hardware reset, I guess.
Can any one help?
