Hi,
Im about to buy this phone in a day or two. Just wondering if anyone has changed LCD density to about 400? Just want to make sure the stock rom is able to handle it. Thanks

I doubt so.. Just few days ago I changed it to 320 and after reboot, constant fc and I can't do anything. End up sent it back to Lg.... Problem with our handset is there is no custom recovery to fall back to.
Hi thanks for the feedback. Currently my Optimus G Pro also FC's the system on anything under 400, but is working perfectly on 400dpi so I'm wondering if anyone has tried. It's actually going to make me decide if I want to go on and buy the G Pro 2. If not I might just get the G2, or save up for the G3. Thanks
Have mine set at 430, running great

I have my G Pro 2 running at 355 dpi, any lower and the SystemUI will constantly crash so you'll have to flash the system again like I did once. I wouldn't suggest any lower than 350 dpi or you'll run into problems.

That's very good to know. No wonder mine messed up at 320... Does changing to a non stock dpi mess up the stock apps? I remember mine when at 320 the camera view finder didn't scale properly.

Yeah the apps that didn't work properly were the camera, music app, music widget and sometimes the quick settings in the notification panel

I use xposed app settings to set the stock apps only back to 480.
Sent from my LG-F240L
what app you use to change density?
i have try build.prop editor but the phone back to stock density value when reboot, whit lcd density pro i haved a kernel panic and i haved to restore whit tot (for both of software i have set 355, and the phone is rooted).
thank
Running at 370.. Great.. LG apps and widgets functioning well..
360 causes widgets and LG apps to misbehave..
one question..why we set lower density ? better performance or what?

More information on the screen = less scrolling. In case of AOSB apps/UI goes to full tablet mode - the best thing ever.

You may try to use Xposed with The special LG debugging zip to go under 400 till 160. keep widgets and lg apps as 400 and others for your needs
400 seems to be the sweet spot.

LG Ui is lag we all know, to reduce the lag go to under Developer option scroll down to near bottom under section Hardware Accelerate rendering. enable option: Force hardware rendering, it should make the Ui faster.
doesn't really do anything. I've had this since day 1 and it's still laggy.
I never had any kind of lag on my LG UI = LG G2. G3. V10..and now V20 !!!
By accident I found about LDB/MLT, I turned it off and my phone is much faster now! Google it or have a look here https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.re...ree_up_some_ram_up_to_300mb_and_maybe_gain_a/ for more details.

Tmobile 918 doesn't have Force hardware rendering option in developer setting, also there is no LDB/MLT option in svc menu
Sprint
Never had any lag ever but disabled all services(I fallowed the link) and I got 400mg of ram back
Nevermind ram back to normal so disabling logs didn't do anything

I honestly don't notice any lag on my V20, but this tip, previously posted, also makes the UI a little snappier, and definitely works for h918!

Of course forcing hardware rendering over software is going to make things snappier. You're using dedicated graphics hardware over CPU algorithms, at the expense of increased power use.

A hidden application installed by LG that tracks specific user information.
http://devtester.ro/projects/lg-firmwares/mlt.php
There is one way to reduce the lag in an LG phone: Sell it and buy yourself a samsung or a pixel.
I am sick of this lag, and I can't afford to buy a new phone.
I think the LG software team is two teenagers who have no idea what are they doing.
Yeah, bizarre though it might sound. I changed my default DPI in the developer settings from 411 (default) to 454 and it moved the interface for the FP reader away from the actual sensor, that's bizarre that OnePlus didn't account for that in the coding.
The small green circle used to illuminate your fingerprint moves also so you can't unlock with fingerprint or re-register them.
I'll report it to OnePlus and hopefully they can fix it. Returning to default 411 dpi fixes it.
You can change the "Display" size in the settings and it keeps the FP reader where it should be.

520 DPI works
In the mean time if you still want high DPI, 520 works and maintains the light, havent tried to go higher
I have mine set at 479 and everything works fine.
Only values between 438 and 470 have issue... Other values work fine . Strange though
For me this happens only in the FHD+ resolution and if I set it to anything above 469, it'll mess up the fingerprint reader scanning. Also, noticed that the numpad for PIN unlock because awfully large. I've reported the bug. Anyone have the 9.5.4 update yet? See if it's fixed?
9.5.4 update is far worse than earlier updates. It makes nova launcher unusable as well. Fp problem persists as well

Well that I know but still even in FHD or qHD+, setting a custom DPI breaks fp icon in FHD and messes up nova launcher in qHD+ resolution.
So currently sticking with the smallest display option under fisplay settings which corresponds to 454 DPI in FHD
Custom DPI is now working on 9.5.8, tested with 480,490 and 500 DPI
I'm currently running 500 DPI and I think it looks great, FP reader works fine.
Lmfao... What?. No you're 100 percent wrong I use 581 dpi on all my devices and I've had my 7 pro set to 581 since day one and no issues with fp at all I'm using 581 right now and the fp sensor still works perfect and still in the correct place.... Your device has to the issue

Well if u go higher say from 411 to 500 it will put more real estate on phone meaning more icons, words, sentences ..... It just makes it so you can see more things on the screen
When I have fhd+ resolution and change dpi more than 454 which i thing it's the default one the volume panel is larger..
Is this a bug?

Well, I'm not sure when "day one" was for you but I bought it at launch and there was an issue with custom DPI on early builds, setting a custom DPI was moving the green circle, used to illuminate the fingerprint for detection, out of the range of the actual sensor so it could see nothing of the fingerprint. It only worked when changing scale using the Display settings.
I reported it to the dev team using the bug report system :
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/...gs-on-op7pro-stops-fp-reader-working.1038047/
It was a confirmed issue and fixed in later builds so, you're welcome, I guess?
*sigh*
Maybe read up before you post with half a story?
djsubterrain said:

its fine with only that much for me
4:3 is 4000x3000

and iirc i never seen any option for "custom resolution" in any stocks camera (other phone) apps too ?
well your best bet is probably using other camera apps
