which forum should i be watching? - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am upgrading to the S5 later this week. What i would like to know is which development forum i should be keeping an eye on. It seems as if there are 3 different ones for the sprint variant ((if it is at all different from the other carrier's offerings) Unified, original and standard android development forums).

You need to be watching the forum that pertains to your cell service carrier. Ie: Sprint, if your carrier is sprint.
Edit: I just learned that a lot of mods will be able to work across platforms, for those, watch the unified development forum.

Rogers is also I727R, not AT&T nor Skyrocket

Rogers also sells the SGH-I727R also known as Galaxy S2 LTE up in Canada.
I don't have AT&T nor is my device called Skyrocket, and this applies to all Canadians who have the device from Rogers.
As such I would suggest to the mods changing the name of the main forum to Galaxy S2 SGH-I727R as opposed to making it associated to a specific carrier and making it easily accessible to Canadian users without confusion.
sorry but no
if you haven't noticed, this forum follows only and mainly phone releases from Europe as in UK, and USA, everything else are just extra, and any model that is the same as the ones released in either region, will just get grouped together.
Your forum, your rules.
I haven't noticed the Europe/UK/USA focus, as I don't look much at forums for devices that I don't have; so please forgive my ignorance on the matter.
I find it unfortunate that the Canadian market has come to be categorized as "extra". As usual we end up being the US underdog and end up being grouped under AT&T instead of having a generic carrier independent name that fits all.
I guess it is all about volume.
i totally agree with you there buddy

[Q] CDMA vs GSM and xda Development

I'm almost certain that I know the answer to my question. I have tried finding xda development on ROM's for numerous phones using the CDMA technology and find they are almost non-existent. I assume this is primarily due to the market share that GSM phones has...one internet post put it @ 70%. Is this theory plausible?
Probably, considering there are a lot more development going on GSM phones as opposed to CDMA. That doesn't mean CDMA development is non existent, specifically the Sprint HTC EVO, EVO 3D, E4GT, etc.
Non-Existent was too general, I should've mentioned my CDMA carriers and....
...specifically US Cellular and Verizon. I was looking at their various Samsung offerings. What can I say about that, <g>. They are the 2 major carriers where I "play." I am currently on i Wireless, a subsidiary of T-Mobile, which of course is GSM, and I have found lots of development for my Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant. I am considering switching to a 4G phone and one of those carriers which have signals where I play, as my carrier doesn't and probably never will. I have thoroughly enjoyed the after marker ROM's here and many know how "bad" Samsung is about firmware upgrades. I guess choices one way or the other need to be made.

[Q] US Cellular Threads?

My carrier is US Cellular, but I notice this site has very little for the carrier. They have many of the newest phones, I picked up a note 3 (SM-N900R4) from there a little bit ago, and went to xda to find out what they had. I noticed that there are many threads for the seperate carriers, but not for US Cellular, this didn't affect me too much with my old phone, the mesmerize (SCH-I500), but most of the differences were small and could be overcome by using romkonverter. But I'm sure I'm not the only one getting frustrated with this site's lack of US Cellular support. What I'm asking is why is there so little support for US Cellular? Could I do anything about it?

i guess i would say that us cellular is a a bit more unpopular then Verizon/t-mobile/at&t carriers. its kinda strange that virgin mobile gets some devices on here such as the lg optimus V which is still being sold and is a great phone for such little specs. you could check here http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/forum/259-android-development/ i just recently found out about it

I'm seeing development for the note 3 all over on xda, but the site you linked me to has very little to say about anything related to the note 3. I know there is development going on for the US Cellular note 3 because in the generic note 3 page (no carrier labeled), there is maybe one or two examples of things listing the SM-N900R4 as compatible, but not nearly as much as I would imagine, considering they all use the same hardware. For my mez, the only difference with that and the fascinate were the apns, you could flash kernels and roms for fassy on mez without romkonverter. I don't know what differences are in all the variances, but what I would like to know is, how could I actively get this site more involved with the development US Cellular devices?

probably only developing a rom on your own or with another person. start with Cyanogenmod, always the easiest to me.

@Moderators XDA Forums

Since the first time I asked (before the S9/S9+ were released) that thread got closed, so I'll ask again:
Could we please get carrier specific forums for the Galaxy S9 and S9+? I know it'll happen but it would be great to have them live by next week before now that the phones have come out officially in the US. TIA!
I don't think we need any U.S. carrier specific forum.
First. Those phones have locked BL. No significant development effort is expected.
Second. U.S. models have the same hardware, same model. Why we need carrier specific ones? Just discuss them in general forum.
Third. Carrier specific forums are purely waste of resources. Why U.S. carriers get 4 separated forum compared to the rest of world get only one?

^^ this
In case there is a noticeable demand at a later stage, we can always create the forums.
