I read that it was already rolling out on N5 phones in some parts of the world. Anyone know when it will be available as a system update in Australia?
I live in Australia currently actually, and I have the Android L update. You have to download the factory image from here - http://developer.android.com/preview/setup-sdk.html#top (you have to scroll down and click on hammerhead) - and then flash it on your phone. Be warned this is a developer preview, while I am using it for my daily driver, it may not be for you. Be warned you also have to completely wipe your phone when you flash this, unless you do some modifications to the flash.bat to not wipe your device.
No the OTA isn't rolling out, lol. It was just announced and they released a DEVELOPER PREVIEW.... NOT FACTORY IMAGES. There is a difference. The link provided to you above is just that. There's no factory image or OTA for Android 'L' at this time. When there is, it will be posted at this link. Until then, it's just a preview. No source code, no kernel sources, just a preview.

It is NOT rolling out yet. It's a developer preview meant to help developers update their apps. I'd say around September or October we'll see an actual roll out to our devices.

As others have said, there is no OTA, just a developer preview that isn't meant for daily use.
And OTAs aren't region specific, they start getting rolled out at the same time.
AndroidL "official" release is in Autumn

Hahah.
I already have Android Macaroon
I hope it's called malteasers

As stated Android L is currently only in developer preview for now. No official rollout for a few months. This thread has accomplished what it was created for so for that reason...

System version says 55.11.16. Is this the most current? I see other ppl talking aboit patxh updates to different versions. I am not rooted(cause im scared to brick it-I got phone brand new off craigslist but have insurance). Just making sure.

Yes. There are no official updates. Those running the motorola developer server updates are taking the risk that they may be excluded from any official updates and may be stuck with the dev update until a factory image is produces. I'd suggest waiting for moto to officially release an update.
Yes, you don't want to install the unofficial updates, especially since the newest ones seem to break our root method.
Cool. Thank you.

Do the moto dev updates have ICS, or are they just gingerbread bug fixes?
They'd be Gingerbread. ICS is a ways off...
I saw on the Internet that KitKat 4.4.4 with security bug fixes has been launched only for nexus 5 through OTA but when I check for updates, the phone says your system is up to date. I'm running stock android 4.4.3 unrooted. Why is this happening? Any help regarding this?
P.S. - I don't want to update using factory images. Only using OTA. Want to know why my phone is unable to get the update.
Thank you

They roll out in stages. You'll have to be patient or check out the ota help in the general forum and download the ota zip

Floating around here are stock 4.4.4 zips you can flash.

Don't worry. I've not received it either. Google sucks with updates and gives absolutely no change log or support. Apple walks all over them in this area. I've read it may take two to three weeks for everyone to get it.

and thats why on update day at apple it takes 12+ hrs for the update to download because their servers are hammered.
pick your poison.
I'd definitely take the staged rollout. No question. Then again, I never wait for an ota. There are plenty of other options available if you're not patient enough to wait. Even waiting for the ota, you'll still get the update before most other devices. Some won't get it at all. Wait, or go a different route. Simple.

I don't understand why people who are so desperate for the update don't just install a custom recovery and flash the zip.
Or just adb sideload like a savage.

Just generally curious. I want to sell my Nexus 5 to a relative and I am running the Lollipop preview. Should I expect it to get the official release OTA update? Whenever new previews updates were available, you would have to manually update the Nexus 5, so will we have to manually update the Nexus 5 to the official Lollipop update or will it receive the OTA like someone who wasn't running the preview would?

Thanks, just needed to know before I sold it so I can correct the issue.
As we all know Sept 29th the new Nexus models with Marshmallow will launch. For fun, what is everyone prediction on when we will see an official update to Marshmallow. My guess is Nov 6th.
21 days or less from code availability.

My guess is way before you can actually buy this thing in Europe...
How would rooted users install the marshmallow update?
11/10, that way my Nexus devices will be up to date while I ignore them for Fallout 4.
My guess is Thanksgiving. Keep us distracted with phone issues or turkey... One way or another we will pass out from the process...
4 weeks from when it is first available on a nexus device.
mischief night
Sept 28th.
You never know lol.

Beauty of an unlockable bootloader ... Return to stock, get OTA. Only potential "issue" is that TWRP/root for M may take a bit (not sure on that though as I'm no dev)
-OR-
Wait for one of the great devs to post a stock-rooted flashable ROM.

We of the Atrix 4G boards had a saying about ICS coming out:
Next Tuesday.

Absolutely! :good:
While I'm very excited for Marshmellow, as others have stated, I don'y think we will have to wait for the official rom to drop. There will be some awesome devs that port it to out devise from the Nexus devises long before it's officially available.
My guess you have to be pretty quick after release because unlike in previous years we no longer have to wait for carriers to approve the updates
3 weeks from code release...Based on how the lollipop rollout went for the 2014 Moto X. I do want to mention that this "update to marshmellow" we are all guessing will be within the month of Oct. will most likely be only a soak test.

If it's anything like my Moto G 2nd gen I ain't even got LP 5.1.1. Moto updates are just as bad as ever
Just read this:
https://plus.url.google.com/url?q=h...265000&usg=AFQjCNF3sdMQFEwp6r0TfrxxVEGNn_fOGQ
That's great but without a link to the Download. It's useless
But thats at least is beggining for updates.
Nice the update is close!!!!!!!

According to David Schuster, the update has begun to roll out for brazilian and indian retail versions. So maybe someone can already tell us how awesome 6.0 really is
gimme that zip! I will live without all mods but just root on 6.0
PS. I hope someone makes stock rom with 6.0 and at least root

I wish I would understand why the Pure is not first on the list lol. But pretty sure someone will be able to make it work with Pure.

Now that it's rolling out, I wonder if its still against their policy if someone with 6.0 on the Pure from the Soak Test gave us a system dump or whatever we needed to make a flashable zip?

Bummer that the US Pure X is behind the Style, even though it was released first Probably that Band 12 and other VoLTE stuff they needed to sort out...

Yep, that's where the link in the OP sends you.
First video (?) of the Marshmallow version on... Moto X PURE.
A bit weird according to yesterday's announcement. isn't it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WfIZcLckMg
Why is it weird? When this person got the update as one of the first yesterday, it isn't weird.
The only weird part is that he states its the final release and he isn't from India or Brazil. He was one of the soaktesters though.
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
Because he uses the American Pure Edition (not the Style) and on Motorola's announcement they said that the Pure Edition will get the Marshmallow in a week or two and for now only the Brazilian and Indian Style versions will get the update
You know that you can flash the brazilian 5.1.1 stock rom on the Pure? So he could get the update maybe.
Or maybe the Soak Testers were sent the final release as well just to make sure there weren't any bugs that Moto missed.

Can he flash the Brazilian rom without root or. Custom recovery? With custom recovery I know for sure he won't get an ota .
