GPS won't lock on - T-Mobile LG G2

My GPS has stopped working recently, it rarely locks on any more. I read about people using paper or electrical tape that they put inside the phone and it started working again. How do I do that? Where do you put it?

Anyone else having CAR MODE constantly starting on you?

Well so far the only glitch in my rooted 4 day old G2x is that for some odd reason,
Lots of times when I go to pull out of my carrying case the phone goes into CAR MODE menu screen? Driving me nuts!
I am not not pushing anything.. It happens alot when I go to answer call then I can get back to phone screen to answer call after exciting CAR MODE>
I am thinking I could delete car mode. However I would like to see if anyone else is having this issue?
Thanks!

read somewhere there's a magnetic sensor in the phone so if you make contact with magnets in your pocket or case it will trigger car mode.
Lame!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! You hit the nail on the head. My case has magnet (costco case) and when I pull phone out or touch near the mag pulling out it puts into car mode. Why the heck is this sensor there? Plus I do not see where I can turn this off.
ugg.
You can always just freeze car home in Titanium back up so it doesn't run.
android thing

there were 2 magnets in the early android phones probably still there. 1 was so they put a magnet on 1 side of the car dock and when you put phone in it went to carmode. than they put a magnet on the other side for a desktop dock and when you put the phone in it would go to the dock program. there is a program called dock runner that will put the phone in the dock mode without activating by the magnet. there may be a way to deactivate these functions by modifying source but i have not ever seen anyone deactivate these. so this isnt a lg thing its an android(google) thing.

Great advice. Trying it now! Will report back
Not sure on the magnet thing. I have my phone sitting on a wooden table. I end the task.. set the phone down. I pick it up again, and it's running.
As a matter of fact, I had all tasks killed and shut down the screen. I turned on the phone, sent a txt msg and checked FB. I went to my running apps and just about every stinking app was running. AppPack, Car Home, Maps, Navigator, Gmail, and a cpl of others. I used the ATK app and shut them all down and set it down. As I was typing this, I picked it back up to take a look.. AppPack, Car Home, and Maps are all running.. GPS is off.
There are no magnets around. Just checked again.. Car Home and AppPack restarted.. stupid. Can't wait for my sd card to get in so I can backup the rom and start ripping it apart.
Mine was being enabled by my magnets in my holster. I can't see how the program is starting after being on a wooden table but it's a easy fix.
Just freeze the app. It's not that hard. You have 3 options:
1) Fallow directions and freeze the app
2) Don't do anything and just keep complaining
3) Take the phone back if you don't like it
Stop making things harder than they really are.

I'm doing something about it.. don't worry dad. I'm pointing out that the magnet is not the only reason why it would come on.. and I released frustration too. I can do that too. That doesn't mean I'm just complaining and doing nothing about it. Don't read so much into it..
Btw, those are your only 3 options.. not to be placed in a box and cast out as the only options for the rest of the world...
Thanks team!~
Freezing app in Titanium worked!

Actually the OP is talking about car mode being live on his screen, if I'm reading it correctly.
You have the same problem I do: Car Home is constantly running in the background.
I did a factory reset and battery life has gone up tenfold. 19 hours, down to 20%. Car home is still running, but it doesn't appear to have a negative impact on the bettery once you do reset
So could this work?

I use "Dock-No-Op" to solve this very problem, since I actually use car home while driving.
Edit: I wonder if removing CarHomeLauncher.apk would solve this, while keeping Carhome itself.
Yea from the magnetic strip in phone case and it cause the the phone to reboot.

I went in root explorer system/ apparently and deleted car mode. It was OK for ne because I never use the app
Does freezing an app in Titanium backup remove it from the applications list or just stop it from starting. I have to send my phone back today and am trying to restore it but I had already deleted all the "stock" apps. This is making a hassle trying to do the clockwork recovery.
Also, can you only freeze the apps if you have Titanium backup pro?

captivate shuts down when bumped (not random shutdown problem)

my problem is very similar to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1024733
i took my original captivate, that i got when they first came out in to att yesterday because my lock/power button was giving me problems. They gave me a new phone and i was on my way. i was happy with this phone at first, because the gps was great and the one in my old cappy might has well not even been in there it sucked so bad. When i got home, i set it down on my desk, and it shut off. anytime i set it down without gently placing it on the surface, it shuts off.
it seems that the top corner of the phone, by the camera and charging port is the most sensitive; i can tap it with my finger and the phone turns off.
has anyone else had this problem? my original captivate had the actual random shutdown problem, but when i flashed any roms besides stock, that went away, and that is not the case with this phone. AT&T are sending me another phone, but i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
Best bet, get it replaced. Could be loose connections anywhere inside the phone.
After I had my battery replaced I started having shutdown issues so I figured the battery could be loose. I put a piece of paper to hold it tight to the back cover. since then never had a shutdown.

Yeah sounds like a loose connection object the battery. Best to just get it replaced or buy a new battery. If the new battery doesn't fix it you will still have a spare.

Bad microphone connection

I never really noticed this as I don't use voice search or call very often. Sometimes I can't be heard, but if I press the bottom of the phone, the mic works fine again. It seems like the connection is loose and when I push on the general area of the microphone, it works again. Any clues as to how or why this has happened? I'm thinking of just taking it apart and seeing what's up, but would like some input from the guys who have taken their NS apart.
Small update. Finally go my screwdriver in the mail. Took the phone apart and cleaned the little rubber piece in some soapy water and let it dry. Don't know if that was actually the problem. Put the phone back together and it seems to be holding up. I gotta give it a few days to see if it actually worked though.

Help - water damaged - touch screen doesn't work

I have searched for similar issues, nothing posted. My phone went swimming with me the other day, DOH!
I have thoroughly dried the unit in rice/dehydration powder (works REALLY well by the way). Unit is completely dry, boots up, recognizes sdcard, radios work etc.
Unfortunately the touch screen doesn't work. I have read that the unit may simply need to be recalibrated. I have carefully disassembled the unit cleaned and checked all leads etc. The unit again reboots, everything works but touch screen.
I am thinking about odin new image to see if it recalibrates screen solves problem, any thoughts advice etc?
Might have to replace the lcd

A friend if mine experienced the same problem. And now none of the speakers work nor does Bluetooth. Phone is also going in to safe mode quite often. Is it fixable? I've repaired plenty of iPhones, and did remove the back to try to disconnect and reconnect the flex cables to see if that would work but to no avail.

Did you trip the water sensor? I had a similar issue, did not trip the sensor though. I tried some of the recal methods, not sure off the top of my head but i think you have to hold your finger for a certain amount of time in one of the corner, I am sure someone will know how to do it.
However what I ended up needing to do since the re-cal didnt work. I bought a usb otg adapter to connect a mouse to my phone, followed the steps to return it to stock, odin, unroot, triangle away etc, and sent it back to verizon for a replacement with no problems at all.
Same issue:
Phone was soaking in my gym bag because one of my water bottles leaked. It was in there for a good 10 minutes. I took it out. Dried it and put it in rice asap. 24 hours later I take it out and it boots fine, can connect to my computer move files everything. However, the touch screen will not work. Any tips for self repair? Will leaving it in rice longer fix my issue?

[HELP]Water got in the phone

So, it's me again.. As the title says, water somehow got in the phone. I can see some humidity on both cameras. I noticed this problem when I tried to make a call and the device couldn't detect the sim card. So, I opened the back only to find water in the SIM slot. The SIM is working fine now as i managed to dry it out but now I have two more problems.. A) For whatever reason the devices overheats by itself way too aggressively and B) the touch screen is really messed up..
Safe mode seems to ease the touchscreen issue a bit but the phone is still useless..
And yes, i have used rice to dry it..
It's fully stock btw except the unlocked bootloader..
If anyone knows what to do I will be really REALLY glad as I dont have a backup device right now..
Thanks in advance.

Is the water visible under the LCD? If not then you might be able to save it. If water got into the LCD backlight, like my previous phone, the damage would be irreversible.
Your best bet would be to take it to a technician and disassemble the phone. Maybe try to get warranty claim if still applicable. Overheating means the motherboard is shorted and the battery needs to be disconnected as soon as possible. Also, disassembly is recommended to clean up any water residue to prevent further corrosion.
Now, may I ask, how did the water got in there? Did the gasket fail or you've made some mistake like not putting on the back cover securely?
The problem was the plastic covering the sim and sd slots. As soon as pulled out the cover that plastic fell down on the floor like it was never glued whereas the other plastic for the second sim was just fine. I will get a technician to fix it in the next few days but until then its staying in rice 24/7. BTW the touch screen does have some problems and it keeps on pressing stuff by it self, although i can fix it for a few seconds by placing my hand all over the screen when active and then closing the screen. When I open it back up the problems are gone for about 10 seconds. Also the is a wierd mark on the bottom of the screen that seems like water but it doesnt affect visibility that much.
Quick update: So, water seems to be in there after all those days as the screen gets worse every day that passes. The wierd thing is that I downgraded to lollipop because I thought that the 5.0 display drivers might be better for such a screen and.. Well the screen doesnt respond at all to touches.. Tech support will see the phone today or tomorrow but I dont think its worth to repair. :/
Best way to "dry" the pone is to turn it off, remove the battery if possible, and leave the phone in a bowl with RICE (yes rice) in it, fully covering.
Rice will suck up all the humidity close.
