Is it possible to put Kitkat on the XOOM 2 Media Edition MZ607? Any links appreciated
No, only Ice cream sandwich is officialy supported

Thanks fo advice
Actually Verizon devices went as far as Jellybean and those ROMs can be flashed on any Xoom2 using the guides on xda. Having done it though i wouldn't really recommend it. Without regular use of a speed booster (which shouldn't be necessary on android) it becomes very slow and laggy very quickly.

Hello Dear Developers and pals
I was thinking if our community could possible have a ICS Rom? Since the SDK has been released and the similar idea is still in progress for other phones why not our Fit
I don't know the technical requirements of the ICS and such correct me if I am wrong on this
Many users will agree on this perhaps,
Warm regards
I'm not sure if there will be a port for our device as the ICS requires an ARMv7 and it needs more than 256mb of ram to run smoothly (that's what I've heard from a few threads here on XDA) but I think its possible of a developer will work on it for out device, ICS works on any screen resolution of any Android device. I wanted to have an ICS port as well on our GFIT so lets just maybe wait.. or else just move on and upgrade to a high-end Android device.

For the Ram I think we'd not have much issues as we have 290mb
processor sure is an area of concern since it is ARM6 though through modified kernels we might be able to overclock the device and there is a bleak chance that ICS will run
Na.....
I don't think there will be a ICS ROM for this phone....
Unless someone ports Cyanogen Mod 8 or 9 which I guess would be based on IceCream Sandwich....

It is not so easy for fit to get the ice cream sandwich so early....i mean like ICS has just been out....4get ICS theres not even an honeycomb update....bt still if the devs want they can do anything....

Well first of HoneyComb was meant for tablets and Ice cream Sandwich was a combination of HoneyComb and Gingerbread which will unite all the smartphones and tablets Android base. ICS will work on any screen resolution, be it a smartphone or a tablet. The only issue about ICS is that it needs 256mb of ram or more to run smoothly on our device and it needs an atleast a device that runs ARMv7
Lets just really hope someone who is patient and kind enough will port ICS to our device. Or else like I said from another thread, move on and buy a new high-end smartphone that will support ICS and wait for the official update. That's if you want to be up to date to the latest firmware of Android and geeky enough.

As google has released ICS source codes. Hope some 1 is kind enough to port ICS for Galaxy Fit. Impossible is NOTHING.

Well it does give an ICS feel but not the full experience of the real ICS but its really great though, its so sad that there's still no a work in progress port ICS rom for our Galaxy Fit yet, I recently saw a port of ICS working on X8 sub forum and an LG Optimus One ICS port. Why can't we have the same? Its just sad..

As I'm sure you're aware, we've not yet eve seen an official or unofficial ICS update yet -other than for international firmware users, and that's been the long anticipated version to tear into. So, until we get our (most likely) official release of ICS there's probably not going to be any work done on any other versions. Unless, of course, we get a leak that will work for our US versions.

i think motorola should skip ics for jelly bean....as the project name suggest its specially optimised for butter smooth experiances, something i never noticed on motorola phone even with dual core hardware....nd even this ics leak stutters sometimes.....i hope motorola fix this issues in official ics

Im sorry if this has already been asked but I am on the fence of buying a tablet for work and ive narrowed it down to the Nexus 7 and the TF300. Im 99.9% sure I am going to be buying the TF300 ($100 more than the 16GB N7, but it has 2x the memory, 10", mHDMI out, and sdCard, no brainer). However I was wondering how the updates are from ASUS and when we could expect Jelly Bean?
Asus tends to be on top of things when it comes to updates in a timely manner. Although I wouldn't base your decision soley on jelly bean. As with any android version update, there are going to be bugs and app compatibility issues that has to be ironed out at first. Then android manufacturers have to tweak the source code and kernels to work with their roms. Then they have to iron out the bugs then. Any products of 2012 will most likely see jelly bean eventually. Newest isn't always the best. Especially when it comes to OS and software.

The N7 will be the priority for the short term. Once sales tail off then they can focus on the T700. They'll get to us promptly but not a priority. Yes, just IMO....
Still Charged Up
I understand the hype with jellybean. But when did ICS become an old outdated OS?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
put it this way
ICS is to JB what Vista was to Win7
(on most devices)
and that is the problem with Android, too many versions out at the same time that work perfectly well on the devices they are installed on

As soon as I loaded it on my Galaxy Nexus.
ICS is great, but JB is waayyyy better, imo.
I would think that since the Nexus 7 was built by Asus that they would have a leg up on getting updates out. Especially since they stick close to vanilla on their roms
Android 4.1 Source now in AOSP

3 Cheers for a TF300 Build :good:
What's replacing flash?
Nothing is replacing Flash. Flash doesn't need to be replaced. It needs to die and be forgotten. If your favorite websites still use Flash instead of proper HTML5, they need to get with the times and dump the resource- and bandwidth-hogging abomination known as Adobe Flash. E-mail them, and let them know that they need to update their $#!t.
I'm new here and an android newbee. I purchased an Asus tf300t a few day ago and have been reading up on all the cool ways it can be modded.
I've already rooted and overclocked it.
Is there a way that I can install JB on it as it's already rooted?

Yea when it comes out u will be able to update with no problem...or u could just flash a 4.1 Rom

Once rooted, can it be upgraded via the official method (from Asus)? I just bought TF300 and waiting for it in the mail, so excited
Yes, a rooted TF300T can still receive OTAs. But you may lose root access after applying it, so use VooDoo OTA RootKeeper to backup.

I followed all the instruction and tried to flash the CM10 Jelly Bean update but got Status 7 errors twice and had to restore my backup twice...
Help. I've read several threads in the development section. All I want is a stable, basic, rooted JellyBean on my i815. I plan on cutting the data package with Verizon in a week or two and so all I need is wifi. Is there a ROM similar to a stock JellyBean available yet?
Dazed and confused... Thanks.

Look under development. I've had Daniels paranoid ROM 1.0 10.1 on for a month with no problems. Bluetooth dosnt work, but 3g and 4 g do

Android 4.4 KitKat has been officially announced and as usual, the latest version of the Android OS debuts alongside the a new Nexus, the Nexus 5 and it will scale automatically to fit on the devices with as little as 512 MB of RAM.
Google aims to make Android accessible to everyone, even people with low-end hardware. In the past, due to the memory constraints, some lower-end smartphones couldn't get a taste of the newer Android versions, but with KitKat that's about to change. Android 4.4 KitKat removes unnecessary background services and reduces the memory consumption to a large extent, which now allows the OS to run smoothly even on devices with 512MB RAM.
So I am requesting to Dev please Leave JB and make a last work for our O1 one last stable seedy Rom as a tribute to a device which is one of most beloved device of android family currently i am using xperia Z but still i have my old O1 (no one buy old android) it reminds me how much i play wid it in college time..
Thanks Regards

So you're saying devs should abandon their work?
All they did was wasting time till now?
This is Cyanogenmod ffs. A custom android developing team that makes google stock roms look like a sugar on rain.
Can you be 100% sure that 4.4 will come out to our p500 soon? Or come out at all?

^ WIN I'm sill using the cm10.1.5 with HALO and it's epic win, and I prefer this or a 4.3 stable android version than a full of bugs 4.4. I said it and i'll say it again, if you can't do it for yourself, wait for other to do it, but don't complain about the time.
I'm also excited about 4.4, and if I have known how to port it to our device I would do it. But i'm not writing everyday "PLZZZ A 4.4 ANDROID NOW!!!!" or WE WANT KITKAT!
Exactly ^_^
