I was hoping someone would start this thread. I'm very much interested to see if the CyanogenMod team goes ahead and releases some kind of preview or nightly build using the code that comes out. I'm pretty exited to see this new UI in action.

L stands for ugLy.
I think the Android L update is trying to copy iOS 7's flat design. Intentional or not, I don't like the direction the devs are going. Those navigation buttons are hideous. It's not a PlayStation controller. (Zing!) If Android L is optimized more for speed and battery life then I hope ROM devs will be all over it. If not, forget it.
And what's with "Android L" anyway? What happened to our food theme? Are KitKats the epitome of food? Next version should be called Sushi.
Now I just made myself hungry for sushi.

It's alphabetical. Ice cream sandwich, Jellybean, Kitkat, then L. I-J-K-L. So it might be Lollipop or something. So far the name has not been leaked.

I never picked up on that. I'm a (since May) Android newbie please accept my humble humbleness.
Maybe they'll go with Licorice. Not black Licorice, though. Yuck. (Also assuming they stick with commonly known editable licorice and not licorice root. Ha. Licorice root. How to root Licorice on your LG G2. Okay Licorice is officially a weird word now that I've typed it enough)

hope to CM working on it
I have read a lot about this version
There's a big change between KK and L, this mean a lot of working porting the new structure and as for CyanogenMod this mean waiting for more information and structure to be released
We will have to wait around 2 months till first releases of cm appear
And talking about design, some how is true we're following iOS design but not at all, Google is looking forward a minimal but colored ui and that's when L appear :good:
You wont see any android L offcial cm roms until its released in the fall. Its just a dev preview now. Not meant to be used as a daily.
Besides i hate the UI from what ive seen. Google needs to unify the color scheme of android.
Hi all, any news on this? has anybody tried out a version of L in your d800's?
Currently, my D800 is running 4.4.2. It came that way.
The LG version of KK works perfectly and I have no need to flash a custom.
I've rooted it and TWRP'd it and uninstalled some system apps. So this stock rom is beautiful and does everything I need it to and more.
Having said that, Lollipop would be nice because of the raw file option in the camera.
Up until I got the LG G2 I was sorely disappointed in the efforts of Google/Samsung to do anything worthwhile with photography even though they were always hypying the Nest Big Thing, LMAO.
LG G2 is the perfect smart phone all the way around. It is even better than its successor, the battery hogging G3.
So I don't know if I want Lollipop or not. Things are working just fine the way they are.
This is the first Android phone I've had that just outright shames the iPhone.
is there any developement on official Lollipop update. any leaks or website xml indicator that its under way? i hate when i was waiting for kitkat update on LG OG and which never happens.

Question – What advantages will the G2x have over single-core phones when it comes to Ice Cream Sandwich? I know that the Nexus S will receive the ICS update before the G2x and be able to take advantage of the NFC chip with Beam, Wallet, etc. What would the G2x bring to the table that the NS can’t when it comes to ICS? I’ve heard forum folks say that ICS is optimized for duo-core phones, but what does that mean exactly?
Probably the multitasking. I bet our phones won't slow down as much as the Nexus S.
However, with that being said, I find it really skeptical about when we'll actually see ICS on the G2X. I credit our developers GREATLY, but that's a huge task that we can't expect them to do overnight.

They said that cm 8 was going to be honey comb, but the source code wasn't released. Therefore the next version of cm is cm 9. Also google said that they would release the source for honeycomb along with ICS. Also the cm team at the Android bbq said that it would be cm 9. Some one else said that, I wasn't there.

I could believe that. I would bet money the reason they withheld it was to stop idiot OEMs from making Honeycomb phones and advertising that they had the newest android.
Now they have no reason to do that, because ICS.

On a personal level, I agree with you completely.
From a development standpoint, though, all work on the device is good for anything. Anything that will bring more people into tinkering with it i'm all for.
(besides - this is how we wean the i-people off those things. They see it on a more powerful Android device and want that instead...but it's really Android. Meantime Android in it's full glory is being ported to and overwriting iOS on iPhones everywhere. Android army advance! lol War of attrition we will win without a doubt. )

Now that's a bit harsh. Miui has been changed drastically since you've probably last tried it. Merged with ics, and perhaps with nova launcher installed, it feels more android than ever. That's not even considering the fact that it's completely customizable. I can't imagine why you'd want to keep miui off of your rom list, considering you only have about 5 or 6 to begin with.
Just about to claim insurance on my busted up g2. I'm expecting a doubleshot within the week. I really hope v4 comes to the mt4gs. I'm currently running it as I write this post, and I guarantee you wouldn't regret it
MIUI rom up. granted that there's a few things that need to be fixed...
And thank you! It's a very nice port, minus the major bug, the keyboard. This rom is so customizable. How could anyone be down on it??? And unlike most of the other roms out there, MIUI themes are top notch! Anyone who has applied the themes knows that it's unrivaled for themes.
So i don't know if you guys have seen it yet, but the new Google search on jelly bean is a siri competitor and in my opinion blows siri out of the water. Do you guys think it would be possible to port the app over to say gingerbread or our builds of ics just like they did with the s-voice. Am i getting my hopes up or is this a possibility?
Btw if you guys haven't seen it yet i recommend you go watch this side by side with siri, because it is quite impressive.

Yes, I imagine it is possible, but it might restrict some abilities of the app. But I don't really know. The only way to know is if someone put the .apk up to really know for sure. If someone can, I might be able to make it work. It would be a longshot but it just might work.
Did some searching around online and on the XDA forums and it is already being used on the Galaxy Nexus thanks to Bigxie. Links below for the files and original thread and the webpage I found it all under. Hopefully some of the Dev's for the G2X can get this working for us. Note that it will be officially released in July for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.

CyanogenMod Team Teases “Nemesis” With Video, But What’s Nemesis?
"Over the weekend, the CyanogenMod team took to their YouTube, hypebeasting a mysterious something called Nemesis. What could it be? The video is not clear, but it starts with the words, “Something wicked this way comes. Nothing can be perfect. Things can be better.”
The words “FREE” flash on an Android device’s lockscreen, but seriously, there is no telling of what this may be. Watch the video and then let’s start brainstorming what could be around the corner from CM."
Droid Life Article (above)
Android Police Article
http://www.cyngn.com is now live with code hinting at an August 19, 2013 release.
Some are suggesting it will be a release of a pure CyanogenMod running phone. Other ideas are a new launcher, division from google, a security based build of CM, and CM on iPhone. They all seem pretty outlandish to me but...
What do you all think Cyanogen is up to?
Its gotta be something huge. They went from being the best and favorite, to now perhaps simply the most widely known and recognized, but no longer the best and no longer the favorite. They need something huge.

I've never run Slim Rom, since it hasn't been available for either of my devices until like last week. But now I have a lot of roms to choose from and I tried Carbon and I'm pretty sure Carbon has cured my flashing addiction. Suuuuch a solid customizable rom. Better than Jellybam.
But yeah. CM needs to do something different. I don't know what's feasible for them to do but still radically different enough of a change. Perhaps a pc OS?
I can't see them breaking away from Android. Too many problems with doing that.
I could perhaps see Nemesis being a much more integrating software, which does even more than Google Plus. Perhaps. I don't know.

Ha anyone noticed the word "FREE" on the bottom of the lock screen in the teaser?
I assume they're not gonna release their own device, and a new ROM is not enough of a reason for all of this hype.
But a "free" something... Now that might be a cause for a celebration...

Rats. So we're back to square one.
xplodwild did some rumor break about Nemesis. So far, it's not CM on another OS (like firefox os), not a CM device. And the device that appear in the video is the Nexus 4.

A new mascot!! They gonna make it look like nemesis from resident evil lol
CM team has put out a lot of privacy related stuff recently. Maybe nemesis is the secure, encrypted global messaging (IM, SMS, email, etc all in one) system rumored...

Hello fellow XDAers,
I am waiting for MIUI 9 to drop so we can pull that into the kitchen and cook. I am going to attempt to work with the new system, I haven't ported anything after Jellybean. So with that, I wanted to see who was on-board to potentially want to try MIUI.
Two things; One - I am not saying I am for sure going to be successful, but I will try. 2; MIUI 9 release date is expected to be end of May or early June 2017.
Feel free to have a discussion of MIUI here, I will also use this thread for small updates in regards to MIUI.
--- Small Post Update ---
MIUI 9 ?
Here is a small list of features to potentially look out for in the new version of MIUI. This is a leap forward into Nougat from MIUI 8.
Multi-window support
Quick-reply from notifications
Optimised dose mode
RAM optimization
Improved data saver
Always-on VPN
Call screening feature
Dual space feature
Dual apps
I have honestly never once run a MIUI ROM. Im not quite the flashaholic i used to be (especially now, as finicky as the v20 seems to be), but i could be game for flashing it a few times to kick the tires, see how it rolls.
Am i to understand that it does not have a home screen/app drawer for stock launcher ala iOS? it does retain androids ability to change launchers?
Is there anything "must see" on MIUI? ...not so much eye candy·· I don't care about bling so much, im all about that utility.

Hello! We have all been there with the flashaholic syndrome. It's a fortunate disease ? the V20 is a unit that is quite more finicky than most, but surely not the worst.
Initially, this will be a project starting off with the 918 and working into other variants as I relearn Android and what the new systems look like. It is a launcher that emulates that of an iOS landscape. Yes, you still have all of the ability of changing launches, etc. Must "see" would be animations, style, small 'functionality' pieces like that of the battery bar rather than a battery icon and so on.
It's more or less a eye candy piece of OS rather than something slim, although it is still smaller than a factory image. More "bloated" than a aosp rom but still functions greatly under the right environment.
