New Google Search - T-Mobile LG G2x

So i don't know if you guys have seen it yet, but the new Google search on jelly bean is a siri competitor and in my opinion blows siri out of the water. Do you guys think it would be possible to port the app over to say gingerbread or our builds of ics just like they did with the s-voice. Am i getting my hopes up or is this a possibility?
Btw if you guys haven't seen it yet i recommend you go watch this side by side with siri, because it is quite impressive.

Yes, I imagine it is possible, but it might restrict some abilities of the app. But I don't really know. The only way to know is if someone put the .apk up to really know for sure. If someone can, I might be able to make it work. It would be a longshot but it just might work.

Did some searching around online and on the XDA forums and it is already being used on the Galaxy Nexus thanks to Bigxie. Links below for the files and original thread and the webpage I found it all under. Hopefully some of the Dev's for the G2X can get this working for us. Note that it will be officially released in July for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S.

yeah everyone is excited for ICS, hell even me and im a Sense man
I've been running CM7 after swearing that I would never go AOSP. Have a nice ICS look and it's been incredibly stable. I'm looking forward to the added functionality of a true ICS rom. For all of it's faults HC on my GTab 10.1 has been out of this world. Can't wait for ICS on that bad boy!
I'm right with you. I just couldn't leave this gorgeous ICS theme. Lol
Awsome. And just a tip for everyone in advance, let everyone have fun with it

We need to send this to the important people, like cm and the portal editors here, cause until its there, we can't really do anything with it, well maybe some dev here could, but others could get something done faster.

CM has already synced with the official Android source tree for ICS and are starting work on CM9.
^^ Was just gonna say this. Cyanogen posted on twitter earlier today: "..and we're off. check back in 2 months #cm9 #ics"

that's the ICS port's name that cannot be spoken about here
it's like Sauron's ROM or something
I wont post a link to the page, but looking at Kmobs Google+, he posted a few pictures comparing his Sensation and Galaxy Nexus.
-In one picture he shows the 'about phone' screen on both phones. On Sensation, it looks like there is a color gradient, however its hard to tell. So MAYBE they have hardware acceleration working.
-Also if you read the 'mod version' it says CyanogenMod-9.0.0-RC0-Sensation-KANG. I'm a noob and Im not sure if the mod version will tell anything, but it says RC0 so maybe its Release Candidate status?
-One last thing I noticed is he has the same widget running when he compares homescreen, so he is kind or mirroring the two, but the Galaxy Nexus has the camera shortcut on the homescreen and Sensation does not. Not sure if that means its not working on Sensation, or if he just didnt put it there
Mods: if I posted anything I shouldnt have, please feel free to delete the post and contact me. Im familiar to the rules for the most part.

lol. should compare date released and prices for devices. the longer the date the device was released and the cheaper price it is, it should have many devs and support for it. as our devices is quite new (not that new lol) but its like a decisive thing for devs really, if they want to get the sensation and create ports there or just go to the newest device there is on the market. but needless to say, we have plenty of devs here. its just a matter of enjoying whats there and being patient. so, stay on and relax

It seems like developement for the Sensation is slowly dying.Looks like all the good devs have jumped ship to newer phones It's kinda depressing since the phone is only 6 months old.I wish i could afford to buy a new phone every 6 months.

Sadly, but true....
We have a good collection of roms though, and we will be getting ICS regardless from HTC. I don't mind if devs jump ship.
Yeah, TripNiCE ROM is now Alpha 7.5, quite perfect and very stable.
It seems that we could have a stable release (or two if CM9/Kang release something too) till Christmas !

T989 CM9 News

Turns out someone is working on CM9 for T989. From the post (linked below).
Brint Kriebel originally shared this post:
Since word seems to have spread: Regarding the T-Mobile Galaxy S2 (T-989). Yes, I have one and yes, I will be trying to get a stable CM9 build running on it.
Fair warning that this can only be a spare time task for me right now and I have a lot of priority projects right now, so it likely won't be quick. If anyone out there would like to help, that is great - let me know. Otherwise, I will do what I can.
I will update on progress, but please continue to be patient.

Cyanogen 10 on our device

I see a lot of talk on Jellybean and other roms, but my main question is Cyanogen 10 on our device. Is it possible? Also I am willing to become a tester on any roms that have JB feature like or customized apps roms (example. Paranoid).
Yes of course it's possible. Give our devs a few weeks. They've already started on the jellybean device tree.
Yes it is possible. If the nexus s is capable of running jellybean then so is our device

Why did you want ICS so much?? Because it's newer and better. Same reasons for wanting JB. Granted it's not as much of a leap as going from GB to ICS but it's still an improvement.
The question here is "is it possible?" I didn't see any "I want!, I need!, when is it coming out?!, etc.." The op is just curious and I know its been asked before but with threads being closed or flame wars, nobody gets a clear answer. Sorry if I offended anyone, that's just my two cents. Plus he did follow the rules and asked in the Q&A

The reason I said that is because there's not much difference between ics and jelly bean. Sure there might be some internal changes on how the system works but I think ics is just fine.

Yeah ICS is great. But trust me JB is faster than ICS. It really boils down to people just wanting to make the most of their phones. I think most(myself included) people would be fine with the upgrade if it happens.

I never really tasted jelly bean and most features of it are not noticeable unless you have a jelly bean phone. I just want ics because it has a sexy UI
You've never experienced JB, but you can say that most of its features aren't noticeable? That makes more than 110% sense.

I'll take that as sarcasm and there's this thing called reading the change log.
My understanding is that JB is a reworked ICS with some of the speed restored to the OS.
there are already JB threads. read them and post there before creating a new (unnecessary thread)
search. read. dont create unneeded threads.

Unfortunately probably not, both HTC and touchwiz apps require there specific frameworks. They are tied to the framework so they won't run without it.

Thanks for that. Ill add that Google wallet to the op. I figured that I would kind of merge this off of that S3 thread since these will pretty much work on every phone anyway.
Ya know, i started development on a custom s3 rom for several weeks and then real life started to get in the way with my wifes medical issues and had to kind of loose interest on it for a bit. I still have everything that I have done so far and hope to start having a little more free time in the next few days to continue with it. :fingers-crossed:

Just about everthing in this thread 'should' work on any single rom except for the touchwiz based apps since they require there specific framework to run. The HTC apps are the same although I havent added any yet that specifically require the HTC framework. Check the op of those threads though and anybody can post if they come across any with other dependencies that I missed. These have all only been tested and installed by me on the T999, the T-mobile galaxy S3.
