Cyanogen 10 on our device - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I see a lot of talk on Jellybean and other roms, but my main question is Cyanogen 10 on our device. Is it possible? Also I am willing to become a tester on any roms that have JB feature like or customized apps roms (example. Paranoid).

Yes of course it's possible. Give our devs a few weeks. They've already started on the jellybean device tree.

Yes it is possible. If the nexus s is capable of running jellybean then so is our device

Why do people want jelly bean so much. Nothing is special about it. I just prefer our developers to perfect ice cream sandwich.

Why did you want ICS so much?? Because it's newer and better. Same reasons for wanting JB. Granted it's not as much of a leap as going from GB to ICS but it's still an improvement.

The question here is "is it possible?" I didn't see any "I want!, I need!, when is it coming out?!, etc.." The op is just curious and I know its been asked before but with threads being closed or flame wars, nobody gets a clear answer. Sorry if I offended anyone, that's just my two cents. Plus he did follow the rules and asked in the Q&A

The reason I said that is because there's not much difference between ics and jelly bean. Sure there might be some internal changes on how the system works but I think ics is just fine.

Yeah ICS is great. But trust me JB is faster than ICS. It really boils down to people just wanting to make the most of their phones. I think most(myself included) people would be fine with the upgrade if it happens.

Already a dozen unfinished ics roms might as well start on jb

^^^ Agree. Running AOKP m6b3 and it's just as stable as stock for me, with more features, and now getting similar battery life after I've run through the "new toy" stage of tinkering.

I never really tasted jelly bean and most features of it are not noticeable unless you have a jelly bean phone. I just want ics because it has a sexy UI

You've never experienced JB, but you can say that most of its features aren't noticeable? That makes more than 110% sense.

I'll take that as sarcasm and there's this thing called reading the change log.

My understanding is that JB is a reworked ICS with some of the speed restored to the OS.

there are already JB threads. read them and post there before creating a new (unnecessary thread)

So do you think we will ever see GB on infuse that is from at?
Please refrain from creating threads like this. As it is there are many, many threads on the same subject. Chances are that these kinds of threads would get flamed and closed.
Yes we will .... eventually ... as you can see there have been leaks so its being worked on. They probably are taking their time due to sg2 sales and due to the fact that the 2.3 release for Rogers had bugs to get worked out. My prediction is after the new year. Hopefully I'm wrong. It goes from Google to Samsung so they can load their bloat like touchwiz and then to att so they can load their bloat, then to us

Chad, such posts like this are unnecessary.
By the fact that you came to this forum, you know about searching. Search the site for Infuse gingerbread ROM or Browse the Q&A or Dev forums.
Read, learn, back your phone up. Learn to ROM and root your phone.
GB is in the wild. You don't need to wait on AT&T.

I disagree. Not only are these post unnecessary because they only crowd the forum, but logical thinking would say that yes we are going to get Gingerbread since there are several leaks, meaning they are in the works of getting fixed.
But in regards to the OP, yes we are going to get Gingerbread, its just getting the kinks worked out. Patience... and besides we already have gingerbread. its going to be the same thing basically as the rogers stock rom. just the android version that will be different and maybe some "fixes"

Because unless I'm wrong (which I frequently am!) we probably won't have bluetooth or HDMI working 100% until we get an official ATT GB release.
That would be about the only reason to care about an official GB release from ATT.

Bluetooth is 100% on Samsung-derived ROMs to my knowledge. Well, it's working as well as stock.
As far as Bluetooth in CM7, LB and I have said this before and we will say it again - The AT&T GB release will do NOTHING to improve that situation in any way, shape, or form.

Dude what is your problem? And no AOSP ROMs are not totally dependant on CM. The CM ROMs are just very popular because they are very good AOSP ROMs that are usually tweaked to the max. Do you even know what AOSP means I think not or you would know that anyone can download the source could and build a AOSP ROM. Educate yourself next time so you will not embarass yourself.
ics ics ics ics ics
I know its going to take some time till a ROM is built but how long till we get some apps ported like the new launcher and messenger.....etc.

New Google Search

So i don't know if you guys have seen it yet, but the new Google search on jelly bean is a siri competitor and in my opinion blows siri out of the water. Do you guys think it would be possible to port the app over to say gingerbread or our builds of ics just like they did with the s-voice. Am i getting my hopes up or is this a possibility?
Btw if you guys haven't seen it yet i recommend you go watch this side by side with siri, because it is quite impressive.

Yes, I imagine it is possible, but it might restrict some abilities of the app. But I don't really know. The only way to know is if someone put the .apk up to really know for sure. If someone can, I might be able to make it work. It would be a longshot but it just might work.

Best Kernel/ROM for GS3?

I hope I'm not in the wrong spot...I bought my GS3 last night (came from GN) and I used to have Franco's kernel...pretty much tried most of them. Even on the new JB ROM's. it would have been nicer if you said what made Neapolitan your favorite ice scream. (e.g. thicker, sweeter). same with kernels. what kernels you tried gave you the best battery performance? audio? highest benchs? etc. basically, what made Neapolitan your favorite kernel, among others.

I don't understand why people have titi attacks about questions like this. I like to hear what people are using and why. Its a simple "I use xxxxxx kernel with yyyyyy rom and I find it improves battery" or performance, etc.... No need to be jerks about things.
You made a good choice with CleanROM; I've used it for a while. If you ever get tired of Touchwiz, you can always switch over to an AOSP ROM like CM10.1 or AOKP. These are more "stock" Android experiences like on the Nexus phones, but I find them to be much buggier than the Touchwiz ROMs.

Even if you don't like Hagen Daz, or Ben & Jerry's brand ice creams because they don't make the flavor you like, you can't deny they're good quality
Give me some different brands of ice cream and I'll tell you some are better than others, even if they're not my favorite. Comparing kernels to engines would be more apt than ice creams. Like engines, what kernel is "best" might depend on the user's needs, but I can't deny that a made in Japan Honda engine is good quality, even if it doesn't work properly in my non-Honda car?
Maybe you can't always objectively say which is the best, but you can run objective benchmarks, you can give opinions on which ones have better average battery life (granted, no two days use will be exactly the same unless the phone is OFF), you can say WiFi works on this one, didn't work on that one.
It really sucks to see a standard canned answer of "you'll just have to try them all for yourself" rather than a bunch of good review comparisons or helpful comments like: I like kernel ______ because it was better than stock in this ______ way...
