Want to upgrade but no computer atm - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys.. I'm currently on 4.4.2 stock rooted with xposed and Franco and would like to upgrade to 4.4.3.
I don't have access to a computer at the moment... So what would be the easiest way or anyway for that matter to upgrade?
Sorry if this a noob question but I am not super android savvy to be honest. Any help would be amazing.
If there was a guide or something to follow for someone in my position....
Thanks for any help

Somebody made a 4.4.4 system zip. Get that, and the flashable 4.4.4 radio zip.

Just flash a stock rooted ROM. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48190796

you shouldnt do a single thing, nothing. not until you take some time to educate yourself first. if not, and you start messing around, youre gonna end up with a paperweight. seriously, im not being mean to you, im trying to be helpful. take some time, read about the basics, learn at least just what you need. start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...urce-guides-info-threads-linked-read-t2784527

Sorry it auto corrected. Yes you can flash a stick rooted rom. Such as the one from @bigxie that I linked but please try to heed @simms22 words. You always want to know what you are doing before you do it or you risk ending up with a paperweight. If you have this many questions flashing something new can wait until you are comfortable with what you are doing.

[Q] DO I need root?

Hello everybody.
I've reading the Infuse thread for some time now.
I saw some recurring themes that I would like to write about.
I came up with a survey that I think may be helpful.
(Try to see the humor in it.)
Here is the question: Do I need to root my phone; do I need a custom ROM?
Do you use your phone to make phone calls? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone for texting ? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone for light surfing? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone for simple games? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone as a PDA? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone as an alarm clock? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone as a camcorder? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you use your phone as to take pictures? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you want your e-mail to work correctly? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you want your APN not be screwed up? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you want your bluetooth to work perfectly? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
Do you want your phone to work right out of the box? If yes then: No, you do not need to root.
However,
Are you a tinkerer? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Are you curious and want to learn? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you like boot loops? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you like to brick your phone? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you think you're a closet geek/nerd? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you have ADHD? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you have OCD? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you have a need for constant stimulation? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you like to frustrate yourself? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
do you want to be a dev? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you secretly want to be a top geek/nerd? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you want other geek/nerd to pay homage? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you not have a hot gf to play with? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you get off of messing up a perfectly working phone to get a semi-functioning phone? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you find yourself stroking your phone calling it my precious? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you get off on getting thanks from XDA members? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you get off on getting your phone out of soft brick? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you get a chubby when you put your USB jig to get your phone out of boot loop? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Do you care if the display of the phone is a nansosecond faster than the way it is? If yes then: you need to root and load a custom ROM.
Are you a newbie that like to start a new thread about bricking your phone? Yes, you need to root and load a custom ROM.
In the process of coming up with this survey, I have concluded that it really doesn't make a whole lot of difference what phone model, what brand, what CPU or graphics or dual cores and what not...
It doesn't make a whole lot of difference if it's FROYO, GB, HC, ICS or FRIED DONUTS IN BUTTER AND LARD,
It's all about the addiction and the obsession.
Sad

This *****ing is seriously getting old...GTFO and quit bumping this thread if you don't want to see it, it's that simple...****in **** ppl
Hey, I really apologize if I had offended anybody.
Honestly.
Mea culpa.
That was never my intention to insult or offend anyone.
You guys are really taking this way too seriously.
I wrote it as an attempt at humor in the general section and the Q/A section...not in the DEV thread, out of respect.
As I was trying to help new users out, I was running into the same questions over and over again.
If some of these guys would just read a few pages instead of asking the same questions over and over again. If they had bothered to surfed through the threads, they could have seen it.
I wrote it as a tongue in cheek comment...poking fun of myself as I had tried to learn the android and custom rom process. I had soft bricked and boot looped my phone plenty of times. I got a usb jig. I had read up on acid, thunderbolt and adrenaline etc..and opened up roms to try to understand it as well. I was poking fun at myself in the process. Until this August, I owned a flip phone and thought it was the bomb.
If you can't really see the comment as a funny for what it is, I apologize. I mean it. Take it to heart and move on.....
anyway,
Have a Joyous Season with your family and friends...
fwiw, I will enjoy my infuse for the next two years...
running what ever rom that works...
and for the record..I REALLY do appreciate the works of all the "giants" that have contributed to this phone...you guys know who you are...THANKS.
That my friend was perfect.. honestly.. So true.. everything up there is just hilarious. I don't understand how you couldn't see the humor in it.. Getting off to the usb as you stick it in your phone.. I loved every minute of that (reading the post.... and maybe other undisclosed things I WILL NOT mention here..... ). Thank you for bringing some comic relief to the barrage of the same old questions getting asked 500 different times/ways in 800 threads. I wish that I had thought to make that first.
Cute. Nice humor. LQOTI (laughing quietly on the inside)

Pay you to root his phone!? How much is this individual paying? lol If you have to send someone your phone to root, you shouldn't be rooting in the first place...
Easy money with FROYO. Lost1 has a stickied post in the Q/A that will root and give you the unlock code also.
Maybe you can get some more cash for the unlock also bubba.
If he/she gives you a GB UCKK3 or later ...watchout. It can be a headache.

His is stock. I doubt it even got the ota update back around Nov. I kind of feel sorry for him . He said qb777 would do it for him, but he was looking for someone closer. No idea why distance matters. What should I charge?
Sent from my High Tech Redneck Infuse Thingy powered by Zeus 5.2 King of ROMs
Heh. I remember back in the day a buddy of mine used to take and jailbreak people's touches for ten bucks. Then, to make it so that they could actually use it with appulous or whatever it was called, he would charge an extra 5.. I think. So 15 bucks to jailbreak an iPod 2nd gen.. then eventually they got smart and realized that it was the easiest thing in the world..
And I'm sure that distance matters because he would get it back quicker.. No! You're not rooting my phone.. lol.... wow. Sad.

[Q] Help me I'm new

Hello everyone this is my first time starting a thread on this forum so hello, anyways I just switched form iPhone to the Skyrocket, and am enjoying it, I switched because I wanted something to make my own and android seemed the route to go. Anyways, I just wanted some input on rooting and what the best ways to do so on a Mac. A couple months ago I rooted a EVO for a friend so I have some knowledge, but would still like some input and any tips that I could get.
-Thanks

Welcome to ROcket world man. I switched from iPhone too but i had i777 for like 2 weeks and than i727. You must read this once so you know what we are talking about. Its all in one noob guide. And make sure to flash t989 cwm through rom manager. Don't flash anything else unless it says it will work with i727. T-mobile SGS2 aka t989 is very similar to our phone so mostly everything there you can flash except kernel. Because with t989 kernel you will get rotation issue. Let us know if you got any question.

[Q] Info on changing "ROMs"

Ok, this is a Question, My tablet is a ("Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, P5113, with a rooted Android 4.1.1") and i would like to chang it to "jellybean" or some other, ROM, can this be done without me unrooting, as you can see, i have no idea what i'm doing but I will learn how.
This is why I bought this tablet, just to see what i can do. So if you can, Please show me where i can get the Info on how to do this, I have read alot in here on rooting "ect" but i seam to not find anything on this, maybe i'm blind or just to old....
You already on jelly bean..
even if you want to change your rom into an official jelly bean rom, you dont need to unroot your tab..
find an aokp jb ROM in dev section, do full wipe, flash new ROM w/correct gapps. enjoy.
you're already running jb, but it's a stock/rooted official jb ROM ;]
you're already rooted, that won't change unless you flash a stock jb firmware via Odin.

Are you sure you're on a "rooted" ROM? Sounds to me like you have root and unroot confused. Did you buy the Tab new? Is it how it came from the store? If so you are not rooted. Rooting is what one does in order to be able to flash custom ROMs.
I recommend you plan on spending a few weeks just reading about all of this and taking notes (really, cutting and pasting into a document on your pc, that's what I do) before you do anything. That's what I'm doing because doing all of this on the Tab is so much different than doing it on my phone, I really have a lot to learn about Odin, flash counters, Triangle Away, etc....

Super one click root is another option.
I guess it depends on what you're planning on doing. If it is just rooting, that's an easy way. It takes a few minutes.
If you're planning on changing roms, flash one/appropriate kernel with one of the one click packages in lumin's signature. It will give you root & cwm & voodoo lagfix.
Do not use rom manager from play store. It is not supported on this phone. It could brick ya.
Good luck and happy flashing.

Don't flash anything. Your in way over your head. Anyone with even the smallest tech ability could easily follow lumins guide. Bricking is a risk all of us take. Quit crying about it.
I learn the most in the hours after I brick my phone. If you are not willing to take the time to learn, and are scared to learn in a trial by fire, you really have no business trying to root your phone, especially if you are not going to follow directions, or take the time to learn what it is you are doing. You are going to brick your phone, and you are going to come here and start a hundred threads about it.....I suggest just paying someone to do it for you, or taking the time to read the instructions. Someone who knows nothing about rooting can follow that guide and learn how, that was what I did.

ahm,, that the reason why i want to root my phone, to flash my custom rom and to fix lag! thats all...
if they or you can give me lag fixer, i will stop flashing custom rom...
Ahem, why don't you go find one for yourself. There are plenty out there. Figure out which one works for you and quit asking for everything to be handed to you. Take the hint and use Google. I learned that quite quickly and you should to. It helps prevent people from ignoring you when you have a legit question.

I forgive you if you have trouble reading English.

Questions about installing rom

I am new device
I was wondering if it should install rom? There is an excellent rom recommendation for this device
Or leave Genuine 5.0.1?
Also asked if I wanted to experiment with installing rom
How do I keep the existing rum 5.0.1 repeatable always what should I do?:good:
Start in the general forum and look for rootSU's sticky roll up. Start by reading that. It'll have everything you need to know. Once you've read that if you still have questions feel free to ask.

Use MultiROM to test out various ROMs while still keeping your current setup. It's a great tool and the best way to try out new things.

I'm not sure. I only flashed one Lollipop ROM (N5X) via MultiROM, and the first build I flashed worked fine, but I was unable to flash newer builds so maybe that's why.

I don't user multirom so I have no first hand experience but from what I've seen, some (if not all) lollipop ROMs that are to be a secondary ROM on multirom, need an edit.

Learn to walk b4 you run. Read, read and do some more Reading on MANUAL ROOT, not all in one kits. These are great. I use then but you need to know the basics of communication with your phone in fastboot, incase of mistakes.
When you are ready make a full backup and an "efs" it's important to store the efs off the phone. Not sure what it is? Get Reading)
I could of named a kit but you would not find anything out. In an emergency (which happens) you would have to start learning things you should have-at the worst time. Good luck on your journey!

The first thing you need to do is install a custom recovery. Use twrp. Once you have that installed make a backup of your device with it. Then you can install a rom.

It's always a good idea to do a backup of your device before you start to modify your phone.

Seriously?
If you can't manage to do this on your own and don't even want to learn how, then you shouldn't be here.

If you don't understand how to do something yourself, aren't willing to learn, and just want someone to do it for you, I suggest you don't do it at all.

Got your pm. I don't respond to pm's nor do I do team viewer. It's not that hard to do. Hardest part is setting up adb/fastboot. Google 15 second adb install xda and skip the first part of the guide where you setup sdk.
