Hello,
i got a HTC One (m7) and i've installed the latest update,
now my screen automaticly turns dark (no brightness at all)
first thing i thougt it was a problem with the savemode so i turned that of but it stayed the same.
it doesn't mather if i switch the brightnes between 0% and 100% it stayes dark
so i thought my backlight must be broken but....
when i restart my phone th welcome/popup screen is bright and as soon as it's started up again its back to dark.
when i start whatsup the screenn is dark but if i say i want to send a video the videoscreen starts and the screen lights up fully,
when i then go back into whatsup or home you see the sreen go back to dark gradualy in about 3 seconds.
what the hack can do this and how do i kill this so i can get control again
i hope anyone has an idea for me.

When I make a call the screen goes black, if I turn it on it goes black again. So I have to turn the screen on several times when I make a call if I want it to stay on. Is there any easy way to change this? I have been trying to change it through Advanced Config, but no luck.

I had pretty the same problem .. I reloaded the ROM and it worked but when Im trying to use the camera , the first screen (today screen) goes black again ..but the rest of the functions are ok...
I've had an odd problem with my 820 almost since getting. I'm hoping one of you geniuses have some advice.
When I turn it on it works perfectly, sometimes for hours. Then the screen goes blank, and then random pixels begin to appear, starting at the top of the screen. Outdoors rather than random pixels the screen goes almost totally green. Strangely, if part of the screen is obscured the green only covers rhe exposed area.
Pressing the on button repeatedly usually brings back the lock screen and reset (on+down) fixes the problem for another few hours.
By the way, eventhough I can't see the screen the touch sensor works. For instance I can hold theon button and then swipe downwards to turn off the phone. I can also answer and hang up using earphones.
My daughter who purchased the phone said it worked fine until the amber update. I had hoped the black update would fix the problem but no change. I found some posts from people with the same problem who sent the phone in to be fixed and got it back in the same condition. I really don't want to go through the hassle unless I expect to get it back fixed. I'd rather try fixing it myself.
My question is whether this is a firmware problem an whether it is likely that re-installing the stock black rom would do any more than the ota install that occurred automatically did (or didn't do).
Any ideas?
Nobody?
By the way it seems to happen only, or mostly when in standby.
I installed an app that displays a clock and doesn't allow the phone to go into standby mode,
and the problem doesn't appear to occur (unless I forget to leave the app on top).
I would set the phone to standby = "never" but the option isn't available on my phone, though
I understand that there are those with the standby = "never" option.
Any idea if I can set standby = "never" with keyboard commands, perhaps?
Hi all, I've got a weird problem. The last 3 days my screen has been acting strange. Phone is working without problems when suddenly the hardware buttons won't respond any more. After a few seconds the screen goes black and stays black. Buttons are still lit, but don't respond. But the strangest part is that the drawer stays visible and can also be used normally. I mean, I can draw the notification area down and let it fill the complete screen. So the screen itself doesn't appear to be broken.
Also, when putting the phone to sleep and awaking it again, I can see the normal screen a brief moment, maybe half a second before it goes black again. Restarting the phone is the only thing that will help...
I've cleared Dalvik/cache hoping it would make a difference, but it did not. Hope someone has got a clue?
I've uploaded 2 screen shots to show what I mean.
I'm rooted on OxygenOs 1.0.3/Android 5.0.2.
I do not know if it's just me but when I'm playing a game, for example (asphalt 8) and turn off the screen, then reconnects alone but all black but on. Someone can help me ? this happens to me with the original ROM (cos12.1) and also the nightly's (cm12.1)
I have noticed this as well, usually when I put it on a dock at night - the screen is dark but the backlight is on. I have to hit the power button twice to get it to go off
Yes, but i do the same but keeps turn on by itself ,i have to clear the RAM to resolve the problem
Assuming you're not talking about Ambient Display, yeah, I've had this too. Full black screen stays on. Once happened to me throughout the night, drained a ton of battery.
I think turning off Ambient Display stopped it for me.
Thx , has stopped it, but if we have this future the ambiente display ,have to work propely ,must have another solution
I recently set my phone down and then came to pick it up later and the screen won't turn on. At first I thought it might be just cold but it hasn't shown any sign of turning on. I know the phone works because it gives me physical feedback and the led light shows notifications. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
