I dropped my touch pro and cracked the screen in a few places. I think it works normally except for the screen, as it receives calls fine...
A new phone isn't in my budget right now. Does anyone know of a good place (hopefully in DC, MD or VA) that will supply or install a replacement touch screen?
(btw, no recent threads came up when I searched.)
Ebay!
Just looked, $30 including postage for a screen & digitiser if you are able to do it yourself.
How hard is it to replace a screen if it has surface damage? Is there anywhere i could find a walkthrough or help?
Shame man, its a tragedy of what happened to your phone...
Luckily its not too bad, and you may just be able to fix it. You can download the service manual for the phone here: http://htcwinmobile.blogspot.com/2009/03/htc-raphaeltouch-pro-service-manual.html
Just a note though, make sure you DO USE tweezers or something to get the speaker wires out of the way before snapping the enclosure back into position... I had to reopen the phone again, after powering it, to rejoin one of the little wires thats like a tenth of a millimeter thick DO NOT IGNORE ANYTHING THEY TELL YOU IN THE MANUAL. Oh, and what works well for the "plastic removal tool" is a cut out piece of plastic ice cream container. AGIAN, do not ignore anything in there... You are voiding the warranty permanently when you do it yourself (which you unfortunately have to).
Anyways, good luck!
I drop my phone also, but the screen didn't actually cracked! but I do have is problems with the screen in other ways! Sometimes I get a black screen when I turn on the phone and sometimes not, but when the screen turns on, it flickers a lot and have lines thru it. What suprises me is that sometimes I get perfect images on the screen (Which makes me think that the screen it's not damaged).
Any suggestion would be apreciated. Thanks!
3 days and still no answer from anyone! I would like someone to throw me ligth on this issue. I'm waiting for this to know exactly what I need to buy, before I start assuming things.
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the LCD connector may have come unseated. You could open up the phone and make sure all connectors are firmly seated if you feel confident in your abilities.

Thanks for the advice! I was thinking on that also and wanted to take my chances opening the phone (oh god!).
BTW, I saw the $30 LCD Screen+Digitizer combo on ebay that Beeble referred to, but I'm not sure if it fits on the fuze (my model). What have come to my mind it's to buy also the front camera of the phone (like a thread on the kaiser) to mod the cell, in case I need to buy the screen+digitizer. I've search all threads about this issue but nobody has done it because it was too expensive for the result; I believe with this price it's worth it right now!
solved
Try this steps:

I used Diamod (!) LCD and Touch Pro digitiser. Works perfect.
Much more cheaper
If your screen works fine sometimes, you most likely don't need to replace it. there's probably just a loose connection somewhere. If you really want to replace it though, there's an ebay seller with a really good deal. $20 for the screen and digitizer already glued into a new front body piece: http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-HTC-FUZE-LC...wItemQQptZPDA_Accessories?hash=item3ef8817bf6 That one's for the fuze, but I think the seller has other models too. I'd definitely get the LCD and digitizer together or else you might end up like I did on my first attempt: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584050

WOW! What a long way to get to the screen. Good luck for everyone who tries to dismount and mount the Raphael.

Thanks for the advise maxh,
I just wanted to let you know that a miracle just happened! my cellphone started to work just fine without even opening the phone! it has more than a week on this situation so I believe that it's exactly what you stated (the LCD conector became unseated or loose). Since it's still working, I have no need to open it! so I'll just wait until it becomes defective again and at that point just open it and tight up the LCD connector!
Anyway, I would love if somebody could make the mod that I was refereing to before (changing the screen of the fuze by the touch pro one) and see if it's possible to attach the front camera on the fuze.
Once again, thanks everybody for your opinions.
I got my new display+ digitizer on Ebay (65$) and replaced it, using the russian link mentioned above ( follow the exact procedure) , it took me 2 hours to do it, and after lot of patience it worked! My problem was the digitizer never worked fine, and after replaced it it worked like never before. If You are not familiar with repairs, it will be a mistake and waste of money to buy a display without digitizer. NOW, I have a small problem, my display has a NEW color, it's like color temp is WARM for this display, and COLD for my old display, AND COLOR level is lower, and the result is display without vivid colors, black like gray. Is there any way to change the DISPLAY color settings?
So year i dropped my phone in the bathroom and cracked the screen and now i can only see a tiny portion of the screen. Considering i also have the newton ring on my phone i think its time for a new lcd and digitizer. Would someone with experience in this area take a look at the following link and let me know if this is all i need for a replacement.

You didnt say what phone you have!
If you have a Touch Pro then it looks right - i believe the fuze screen is slightly different (no front camera) so if you use this screen on the fuze you may see something through the camera lens.
I replaced mi display , it took me 2 hours to do it, but finally it worked fine. The only issue was the new display has a different color, the digitizer just worked perfect, even better than new, but the color is different, now the colors are less vivid and less brighter, I will try to adjust the display color settings, I will do it tonight.
oh wow good eye didnt even notice that. i guess ill go with this one i just found.

hey GussMiami, do you DIY your screen replacement?
I would like to replace my LCD by myself, but I do not know how to do it,,, tried to youtube it with 'replace touch pro lcd screen' or some thing like that but came up nothing.
tq before,,,
ps: if I have blue spots on my screen, is it some kind of dead pixels?
Xue v.2 there are a couple of guides around on replacing the screen http://www.att-phones.org/att-htc-fuze-user-manual.html
I ordered a new Digitizer and LCD for my Fuze yesterday as mine is somewhat scratched up, the job does not look particularly easy, at the moment I am debating finding someone else to do it for me vs possibly wrecking my phone doing it myself, from what I have read the hardest part is making sure not to break any cables/wires (commonly I see people breaking the speaker wires).
oh thank you naiku,
well, I think I will buy the lcd+digitizer for 30usd from ebay and have htc care to replace it for me,,,
plus I need to fix the keyboard as well. Let the pro doing the fix LoL
So my Optimus 3D had a fall and broke the glass. After some choice words, I managed to get a new glass, and the phone worked in the mean time. I took the phone apart, and replaced the glass. After putting everything back together, it seems I missed something since my screen won't come on. Everything seems to work. It does the screen tap sounds, vibrates, all that good stuff, just no display. I've taken it apart a couple more times, trying to track down what I missed, unsuccessfully. So, I give up. Does anyone know of a good place I can send my phone to have it fixed? There are a few local places, but they don't give me warm and fuzzy feelings about skill level.
Do you have pics of the open Optimus 3D?
I do... I tried to post them, but noob restrictions are restricting this noob.
Use www.imageshack.us !
No, I've got the pics online, I can't link 'em in here, can't even quote your message...

I had a similar problem when I dismantled and put together Iphone 3gs, at the end it turned out the LCD was a gone, once I ordered a new lcd screen the phone started working again, I would use a good magnifying glass to look at the links where the lcd links up to the motherboard to see if there is any damage. Found one on ebay, looking at where the cable is, are you sure you are attaching the cable properly to the motherboard? that could be your problem. Good Luck hope you find a fix
Okay strait to the point! I've got a Galaxy S2 with Android 4.0.3 bought it 4 months ago.
I accidently dropped my phone and cracked my screen on the bottom right corner. The crack went from bottom and a diagonal line up til the right side. I took a picture below.
imageshack(.)us/photo/my-images/685/20120326152703.jpg
This happened about 2 months ago. No problem since. I dropped the phone a few times afterward but it didnt seem to affect it lucky me.
Yesterday i tried watch some series over my WIFI and the phone got really hot around the camera area. The phone wasn't acting well either and then battery dropped from 75% til about 10% in 10 minutes without any video still showing up. (Never had that problem before). I stopped using it and instead put it on recharge for the next day. And today on the morning it was still okay. Went to school and back with the mobile still working. Put it on my table and checked my PC.
About 2 hours later while cheking up on my galaxy i discovered this.
imageshack(.)us/photo/my-images/198/20120326153629.jpg
I think that the LCD finally busted but i need to be sure if it has something to do with the previous crack and also if you could provide any info about what to do with it? Does my warrenty cover this? Or do i need extra insuranse?
I really need help right now LCD blackned spots
The screen has started to turn black from the core of the LCD leak. I now really think this is a broken LCD screen and not a software problem. If someone knows what i could do to fix this i really could need the help right now.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
But it sounds to me like you've busted the digitizer portion of your device. As to it being caused by the small crack on your screen.. i don't really know(can't really see if it's a crack in the glass or digi). At any rate, judging from the second picture you provided us it most definitely looks like you damaged the digitizer.
Most companies don't really cover damaged screens caused by users. However, being that your S2 is only 4 months old you could possibly pass it as "it did it by itself, I don't know what happen". Worth a shot I guess...
If all fails you could bring it to a electronics repair shop or you can repair it yourself via a digitizer part bought on ebay(probably pretty expensive being that its part of the screen)
If all else fails check ebay for a new screen.

If your thinking about taking the DIY road I found a screen for you.Quick note about buying something overseas on eBay: it usually takes awhile for the part to ship and even when you get it, the part may not be functional. But don't fret, eBay is usually pretty good about stuff like this so a working part will be guaranteed or your money back!
If you do decide to repair it yourself I would first research A LOT about your phone. Especially, the disassembly guide! Try to use only credible guides such as iFixit, repair universe etc.
This only applies to flex ribbon cables:
when replacing screens sometimes you have to plug it in a few times before you actually get it to respond(could be cause by oxidation of the pins) if thats the case, you could try to take a #2 pencil eraser and gently rub against the pins and remove the oxidation...
Good Luck!
Please let me know how it goes!

Yes it is really a crack and a very annoying one. It doesn't cause any problems with the touch-function, so I've been using it normally but for the screen, it has gone completely black but for the top right part still a little darkblue. I think I'm going with your first answer and try to check it in on warranty have had a bit luck with it past couple of times but im not sure about changing it myself. If having no luck with warranty then maybe ill try doing it myself.
at any rate weather you get warranty to change it or you fix it yourself maybe youll learn to be more careful and get a case maybe???
Hi,
A friend of mine dropped his miro and it cracked the screen. He bought another phone and gave me the broken one.
The phone works fine, it's just the cracked glass as you can see in the pics. I'm planning to use it for dev, but if i can get the screen fixed even better.

Try to turn the phone on, see if the screen still shows, behind the cracked screen, check if there are no dead pixels, if not, than you can use that part to replace indeed. But you will need to warm the screen, else it won't come loose.

Thank you
Honestly, no, I had a broken screen before on my Tipo but I brought it to some Service point, not an official Sony one. But I know you COULD use a hairdryer, and you should mostly warm the edges. Not TOO warm though because that can cause screen damage also.
It's kinda tricky to find out how. And theres no dissamble video or instructions for these phones yet... so...
EDIT: I could figure it would look something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqypUFCL3Ak
But I'm not sure. You'll probably also need Torx screwdrivers.
Edit 2:
Theres some guides now, but it doesn't show anything about the screen itself.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36OQfj3eFcw for Miro
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz79YQukiyE for Tipo Dual, (I think Tipo Single is 97% the same).
Here how to replace lcd and touch... anyway replace touch also is very easy just heat some and you can easy remove.
Dont forget take tape black from older digitizer and put in new one because when you press touch makes like water bubble.
