Network disconnects when connecting to wifi - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm on 4.4.3, stock ROM, no root. Whenever the ph connects to Wi-Fi the network disconnects and takes about to min to connect back. I saw this on 4.4.2 too and the same continues. Is this a known issue? Any ideas how to prevent this?
Thanks.

Same here.
I did install ICS 4 times (back to HC even) and had the same problem just like you said.
And CSC change from ZTO (Brazil) to KOR (Korea, I think) as Kies shows.
Tried WiFi Fixer from Google Play but no luck. Keep reseting wifi all the time.

Thank you very much!
Could you tell us what is causing the problem?
Could be 3G band (900 or 850 MHZ "L" model) or who knows 2,5 or 5 GHz wifi ap's frequencies... I'd like to know the diagnosis
I have the same problem... :-(

That's not the problem, I think, because I have a brazilian model P6200L and it works great, wifi is fine, but some people with the same device are having this problem, I've told them to flash the baseband/modem from a brazilian FW and it still not working.
Same problem here in Malaysia. Wifi doesn't work at all for me and it is a big problem since wifi is my primary internet connection at home. When I switch wifi off and on again it detects my home wifi with full bars and when I try to connect it immediately goes Not In Range. I've tried wifi fixer but all it does is constantly resets my wifi which doesn't help at all. I need to downgrade again..

I saw someone commenting about using static ip to solve the problem. As in my house I have two routers and in all of them i did set static ips prior to ics i didn't get that wifi problem.
But using dhcp I can reproduce it.

Doesnt work with static ip. Flash again ics and doesnt work
Any solutions?

It seems that our ics version of tab is quite picky on the type of wifi router that it would connect. my temporary workaround is to have the wifi channel at the router fix to 1 channel instead of auto..my router is set to 1, seems to solve the wifi problem..you guys should try it..
Cheers

I did something similar, I changed the wireless region from Africa to Europe on my wifi router, it seems to help but my wireless stops working sometimes and then just reboots on its own.
I had similar problem with other device, so this thread helped me out:

this would be usefull as well:

Wifi bug - connects to network, but not internet

I'm experiencing a bug on my Nexus 5, when I first unboxed my device and setup this problem arise for the first time, problem is Nex 5 is connected to my home wifi network but no internet connection/data transmission !! at that time I tinkered a little bit like forget network and reconnected it then it was fixed, after that this problem rarely appear. Then comes the real problem yesterday I rooted my phone then it wont connect to internet same as before connection is accepted and have full strength signal but not connecting to internet, I've tried rebooting, forgetting and connecting, troubleshooted PC etc but nothing seems to fix the problem !! I double checked my network like I connected my tab with wifi and it's working perfectly fine.
Is this a common/known bug with Nexus 5 ? Or it's just me ? (h/w issue)
Any known fix other than I mentioned ?
Does rooting caused this problem appear more frequently ?
Any response will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
Try connecting to a different network, it may be a compatibility issue. Also try rebooting your router/wireless. If that doesn't work then try restoring factory image.
If none of those options fix it then there could be a problem with your Nexus 5's hardware

I'm now flashing factory images, if that doesn't work I'll do a replacement.
I have this issue too, with different WiFi routers.
(Full stock Nexus 5)
Out of intetrest what countries are you connecting in. When I had a Desire HD I had trouble connecting to Turkish routers. Different frequencies? Have you ever connected to your router with an actual connection?
Have yu tried disabling wifi optimzation?

I did tried with each and every option toggled with but still no way.
Sometimes out of nothing it gets ok then goes bad again.
I'm from India and using Teracom router. Funny thing is my tab here working just fine with my home wifi network, I'll try with another wifi network tomorrow.

Merely rooting the device would have no effect on the Wifi connection. Did you also install a custom rom or kernel?

Yeah, so it's a wifi thing. Did you try changing the channel on the router? You can use inSSider to find the best one.

4.4.3 5Ghz ac wifi issue

Upgrade 4.4.3 through OTA. Now I find I cannot connect 5GHz 802.11ac WiFi. I can see the WiFi ssid, but when I try to connect, it always can't. I change the router channel, but no use. My xperia z and my Mac air 2013 can do. So my router is good. Does anyone face this issue?

both nexus 7 can't connect to 5Ghz WiFi after updating to 4.4.3
Unfortunately , same here, now my two nexus 7 can't connect to 5Ghz WiFi after updating to 4.4.3
Use third part rom can solve this problem. Cause official rom cannot change wifi region code

My N5 connects well with D-Link DIR-850L 802.11ac router (433Mbps Link Speed reported). Similar connection performance before upgrading (4.4.2).
Something not right somewhere.
I am still connected to my Netgear R7000.
