My M8 wont charge if the phone is powered on. - Verizon HTC One (M8)

When the phone is on, plugging in the cord will charge the phone for a couple of seconds before it stops working. If its powered off, the phone charges normally but obviously I want to be able to use my phone. Does anyone have a fix for this, or do I need to get back to stock and make an insurance claim with Verizon?
I should mention I'm running the GPE ROM currently.

I have one somewhere that I could try tomorrow. I think it might be a software problem since it started entering car mode all the time randomly when not plugged in yesterday, and that's when this started. That being said, it seems if I let the car mode notification sit in my status bar it will charge for the most part.

sounds kernel related. the ruu via SD will be an easy way to test. remember it will wipe internal storage too.

Nexus S hard bricked

I think i just achieved the impossible, hard bricking the nexus S.
I was having the google logo stuck problem after i tried to root it in CWR... so I used odin to reflash rom, and apparently flashed with the wrong rom (i have i9020 but flashed a 9023 rom)
Now my phone doesn't even turn on, i can't get it to download mode no matter what, can't get into CWR anymore.. fastboot doesnt work because usb doesnt even get recognized.
the only "life" i have from my phone is that the battery gets warmed when i plug the usb in.
I am not aware that there is a USB JIG for nexus s...
does anyone have any insight?
All I gotta say is you shouldn't of used odin. Are you able to get into recovery? Fastboot not recognizing your usb can be due to drivers.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
can't get into recovery (if you mean volume up + power), i used to be able to, but after the flash I can't anymore.
Fastboot is via cmd? Can't do because USB is not being tiggered.
It's totally unresponsive.

Volume up + power doesn't go into recovery. It goes into fastboot. When you go there, you can press volume down until you reach recovery.

The reason I used odin was because I came from Vibrant and odin worked great. I shouldve done more research I know..

I came from vibrant too. Before that I used the g1. Non samsung phones primarily use fastboot.
What happens when your phone is completely off. Then hold volume up and power at the same time?

Are you all guys really sure that you read the first post first? Or just read the title and replying?
I just notice even when USB is not plugged in the phone is still warm (with black screen and everything)... so I am not sure anymore.. the mystery continues.
I am pretty sure I flashed this

then it bricked, how stupid

And yeah. That was a 9023 rom. Go back and see if you can get it exchanged. Just say it randomly shut off and wouldn't turn back on.
But this is totally on you because the op in that thread said not to flash it on 9020

edit:if u are not registered here is the direct link

thanks for your advice, but I can no longer to on Odin, because I can't go in download mode.

[Q] Possibly bricked phone

I had no idea where else to go for help I have a vzw gs3 and wanted to install a custom rom. When I was trying to flash the bootloader which I was doing following this video youtube .com/watch?v=K4b9hcWHrW8#t=155 after I did the first bootloader unlock step my phone did not restart and now is just black. Nothing happens when i plug it in or hold power button. Please help I do not have the money for a replacement phone and i figured this would be my first place to try for help. Also i have installed custom roms before and it worked fine just never on a phone. Sorry for the space in the link it wouldn't let me post with it because i am a new user.

Have you tried booting into download or recovery mode? Here's how http://www.knowtechbetter.net/how-t...-download-mode-on-samsung-galaxy-s3-tutorial/
If you can get into download mode I would odin back to stock and then use this tool to root, unlock the bootloader, and flash a custom recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825
As for why your phone won't turn on or anything I'm not really sure. My best guess would to take out the battery and plug the phone in without the battery to see if anything happens, and then put the battery back in.

There are options here.
Use this method, but you need a class 10 external SD card with the exact same size as your internal card, and you need to follow the directions exactly, it should work:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=45595912
Other option is you can send it into somebody for a jtag repair, mobile tech videos will do it for $60 I think, either way you go you won't be buying a new phone.

It was a guess suggestion. I would try booting into download mode or any mode with the battery out. But if you can get something to happen to show you're phone isn't completely broken I would leave the battery in and just let in charge for a little while.
Can you get to the charging animation the phone makes it's charging while it's off?
And have your tried putting the battery back in while the red light is on?
(again these are just suggestions, I've only soft bricked my phone twice so idk if it will work for you)

My last idea would be to just try different combinations of having the battery in and out, when you put it back in, having it plugged into the wall and computer, and trying to boot into any of the 3 boot modes. Otherwise I have no idea, but when in doubt just try everything.

Sometimes it takes repeated attempts, also are you following the sprint guide? You have to do it in a Linux environment, either the full os or a live CD of Ubuntu.

[Q] Dead phone?

Got home from work today, and out of nowhere my phone was randomly rebooting.
It would boot to home screen, stay for a few seconds, then reboot. I tried to go into recovery, but it froze on the Team Win logo. I waited, then pulled battery again to try to get into recovery again. After I did that, my S3 has been effectively dead. It doesn't vibrate when I hold power, doesn't respond when I plug it in, nothing.
I was on 4.4.2 OSE with PA gapps. Running TeamWin 2.3.6.1. Very few apps (minimalist, I always try to keep unused apps gone).
I'm bewildered as to what may have caused this, and why nothing changes now.
Any ideas?

M8 battery acting strange...

My M8 will only work if it's plugged in. The second it's unplugged, it powers down. However......it will go into fastboot mode without being plugged in. That tells me the battery isn't shot. Anyone have any idea what could be going on? I wiped it in recovery and flashed a new rom. Same results. I'm baffled.

Can't enter download mode for stock flash

Every time I try it (no batt, up on vol) I get a missing battery sign.
When I try to do it with the battery and plugged in it shows up and I can assign ports but flashtool cannot see it!
Any ideas?
Do you have latest drivers installed?if not install them first.and always keep better in when flashing.

It's not really supposed to work with the battery out of the phone anyway.
You are using a USB 2.0 correct? USB 3.0 will not work.
What do you mean flashtool won't see it?
Your selecting the tot file clicking the yellow button and when it says ready you've unplugged and re plugged the device?

How exactly do I get to download mode with battery in it?
Flashtool never gets a yellow go color. It just sits there. When I click go, it fails out.
