Pro version (no ads):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fluffydelusions.app.worldclockpro

BTW, any requests feel free to ask

So to anyone using it would you like an option rather than to display date you could also choose from something like "Today, 5 hours ahead" ?

Also thoughts about something like this for displaying time rather than traditional numbers?

New update:
Added a date preference in settings where rather than show date next to time it will display as something like Today, yesterday, tomorrow and hours behind/ahead. See screenshot:

New update:
- Date calculator
- Days until
- Duration calculator
- Time converter
- Weekday calculator

Will give it a try and then give you some feedback.

Thanks! Hope you like it

I like it.
And here is my first impression.
Simple and easy use, which is good.
First time starting, it takes a bit for the "processing", maybe you want to consider renaming that to something like "Initialising first use or start or ..." this way a user won't get impatient nor wonders if that will now happen everytime.
I like that it asks to choose a color for the picked city, that is good, maybe you can also add custom color at some point.
Also I would rename "duration calculation" to "days since".
The widget is cool since it switches from city to city. Maybe later you can add custom duration times.
One thing about the widget is that the text is small compared to widget size.
At some point I would also add a dark theme.
So I hope you like my review/thoughts/impressions.
All in all is this a great app, especially for people travelling allot or who have work with people in different time zones.
Will continue using it and keep you posted on my impressions.

Thanks, glad you like. Yeah you are probably right about changing that to something like Initializing database. Definitely want to do a dark theme and add more widgets too!

Updated with time zone converter

BTW, anyone think of some useful tools I can add?

Updated with a week number calculator. Enter a week number and year and get back the start date

Update:
I've added a pin local time option in settings. With this you can pin current local time to the top of the list or set your own time zone and use that instead.

Hi,
This looks interesting, thanks for all the work so far, but would you be able to provide some screenshots of the widgets in action? I would only ever use the widget, I'd probably never use the actual app other than the initial set up... (though it does look really nice!)

Thanks, I've installed it but for some reason I cannot resize the widget down, seems it can't go smaller than 2 rows. Is this by design, or a bug, or just a problem on my phone? I'm using Xperia home launcher, with an xposed mod to set the grid to 6x5, and allows me to resize any widget to any size - and it's working fine with other widgets, I can make them anywhere between 1x1 and 6x5 without problems.

Yeah that is how it is for now. Shouldn't be a problem in an update though to allow resizing

Would anyone using the app find any of the tools on this page useful?

[widget] Digital Clock Widget

Hey guys, would you take a look of my Digital Clock Widget?
Digital clock widget is a home screen digital time and date widget for Android. It looks just like the one on the iPhone unlock screen. In the latest version 2.0, I have fixed the date flickering issue, added a color picker that let you select millions of colors and added curtain mode, which lets you view changes take effect right away!

I'm a long time user of this widget, since August. Great work, Maize.
it looks wonderful but is invisible to me due to copy protection. it would be nice if you could disable it, if only for a little while...

Great Widget
I've been using this widget for a long time, and I'm loving the 2.0 update.
I have a small request though. I'm a big fan of the WP7 lockscreen. I recently discovered WidgetLocker and the level of customization that comes with it. I was wondering if you could make a 2x4 WP7 lockscreen-like widget that just has time, day and date.
The only reason that I'm asking for it is because I assume that it'd be a rather small tweak from Digital Clock. I would do it myself if I knew how. haha
The WP7 lockscreen looks something like this.
Thanks for your quality work.
thanks so much! you rule
Cannot find on the market =(
how about apk file here...?
Also cannot find it in Appbrain market.
Maybe you can put it on a webspace?
Really want this widget.

Maize - luv this widget. Much thanks.
1 issue that you may be able to help me with (sent you an email through the widget itself already):
AM/PM doesn't show up all the time? Have backed out once I check the box for AM/PM.
1 suggestion: Any way to size the text area in future release?
Thanks.
UPDATE:
It appears the AM/PM will show up when there is a single hour in (12:00 configuration) but not when there are 2 digits (ie 1:00pm but not 11:00).
Maize can you comment?
I just upgraded my Vibrant to Froyo, 2.2 thru T-mobile and noticed that I can no longer find your clock widget in the market. Will you be doing an update so the Vibrant users on 2.2 can once again enjoy your most excellent widget?
Hello Maize,
I found your Digital Clock Widget on the market after searching for a long time such looking one. Unfortunatly, I have an error message each time I want to configure the widget (force close) and according comments on the market I'm not the only one. I'm using HTC Desire HD with stock ROM and Froyo 2.2.1. So I just want to let you know I'm not the only one to wait for a new fixed release
Thanks in advance, and Bravo for your work
Loran_69
Edit: Just saw you asked for French translations. I can be the one if it's not already done (I don't know as I can't reach configuration screen )
Very good idea and lightweight, except it's too small for big screen phones (3,7"). So if you'll make a new version with bigger clock, i'll use it.

[TRICK] Hidden App Launchers (Ninja Apps)

I might be late to the party but here we go anyway:
HTC Evo: Invisible App Launchers (Ninja Apps)
The Video Tutorial:
The Text / Image Tutorial:
What you will need:
- An HTC Evo (probably works on other phones, but I don't care about other phones)
- A Custom Launcher Program (Launcher Pro & ADW EX are what I have found this to work on)
- A Transparent Icon (You can download this one)
- A Wallpaper With App Images built into it (You can use this one)
The process:
Here we have our main screen...you guys are lucky I just switched to the cm7 RC1 and did a full wipe otherwise you might have had to wait for the apk release.

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Basics first, we need to switch to a wallpaper that has App images designed into it...the one I have is really nice but there are others out there. Look.
After that we will switch to the first screen we will be adding our hidden launchers too. On this screen you will long press to bring up the "Add To Home Screen" selector. Select the "Custom Shortcut" and then choose "Pick Your Activity." From the next screen you choose what kind of Activity you want, an Application, Music Playlist, etc...After making your selection. Choose ok and your launching icon will be added.
Repeat the above step until your icons cover the launching area of your desire. You can go into ADW or Launcher Pro settings and edit the number of columns and rows on the screen. This will help somewhat with making icons cover the icon area from the wallpaper. For mine I left it at 6 rows and 4 columns.
After all your icons in place it is now time to make them transparent...Long press over the icon and in ADW you will select "Edit." press the icon in the edit screen and choose the transparent icon you downloaded earlier in the tutorial. Repeat this process until all of your icons are transparent.
YOU'RE DONE...
Some tidbits and problems you may run into:
- They are kind of invisible but I still see the icon text... You need to go into the settings for your Launcher Program and select "Hide icon Labels."
- I can't get the icons to fit right over the images... This is not an exact process and will requires some trial and error, as well as, tinkering on your part. Some things you can adjust to help this: Adjust your wallpaper to different sizes and display areas, Adjust the amount of columns and rows displayed on your screens.
- Where can I find more wallpapers like this? My best advise is to look on the internet, it's how I cam across it. I do make custom wallpapers, but, they are not free ($1.99) donations.
If you have any more questions please post them and I will address them as timely as I can.
this is awesome thanx
Umm, there's nothing new about this. Lots of people have posted themes that use this method. I've been doing this since last summer. This might be useful as a tutorial on the basic setup of this method. Also, of course it will work on any phone. What is the apk file going to do? Maybe I'm missing something...
great
Wow! I hadn't heard of this before, but i love the idea and the tutorial. THANKS!!! I'm gonna have to scour for more wallpapers. Is there anyway to take the wallpaper you have in a layered version and remove a few of the images and swap in a few of my own?? ex. i would take out the facebook logo and put a cartoon pic of my wife/kids for my quick dial apks. etc... anyway, thanks for the heads up!!
adam
EDIT: btw, what widget are you using on the wallpaper that show the 4 day weather icons? (or what widget and theme or icon pack)...thanks in advance
I have been looking for other wallpapers with app images built in and no luck. Any suggestions?

Wouldn't the definition of a donation be giving to a public and/or charitable cause? You aren't offering the wallpapers for free to the community, then allowing people to donate to your cause. If that isn't the case, it sounds like you are charging for a service, not encouraging a donation? Unless you plan on offering the wallpapers to all once the initial request for a custom donation inspired wallpaper is received?

I've been looking also for something like this for quite some time also, as I've been using the blank icons with wallpapers to some extent already, just not all over. Just along the edge like this:
The full setup is attached in the Scrolling 2.0 Theme in my sig which also has links on how to set it up from the original author. I also created some wallpapers other than the honeycomb one. PM me if if you would like to check them out.
Its hard to locate wallpapers with the icons pictures built in as I'm not sure what to search for exactly or what the "official" name of this type of wallpaper/setup is.

I could be wrong about what he's using, but you can achieve the 4 day weather forecast like that with the Beautiful Widget's Beautiful Weather Widget. You just need to download that skin, and then disable todays current weather.
I achieved the same widget look using the Beautiful Weather Widget in the screenshot above. Just changing the skin (the skin you would be looking for to achieve that effect is called BrushedInk&Black), hiding the background, and hiding the current weather. Beautiful Widgets is a paid app, but its worth it for the couple bucks it costs, it looks great and is highly customizable.

Your dock is good
By fully editable, does this mean it will work on a Tab, 5x1 or 5x2? It looks really nice, and I am looking for something for weather on a Tab. Thanks for your work on this, even if it doesn't work on a Tab I will put this on my Fascinate or D1.
I played with it for almost 10 minutes and couldn't even figure out hoe to show a clock. All i see are color and alignment settings. Color and alignment of what i can't figure out.

After you add the first panel (canvas or stack) then you long press to add other elements. After talking with another user I see there is a need for a simple editor in addition to the advanced editor. I'm open to ideas on how that should work.

As a side note, I have the weather ready. I don't have all the features that I want to support but at least the basics work. My next task is to make a create wizard that will walk you through the steps of making a simple layout. Once I get it ready I'll release the next version.
If you could add missed calls/sms/email in a simple minimalistic way like TxMissed Widget is supposed to do (it's really buggy, and dev has no time to mess with it) I would love you long time! And it's something I would definitely pay for.

That shouldn't be too difficult. I was also interested in what devmil did with Minimalistic Text and tasker. My plan was to replicate that as well.
Please do! And I'm sure I'm not the only one who would really want it, even if you put that feature in a pay version.. Otherwise you need to get your donate to me button added.

Integrating tasker variables is a great idea. Maybe even as attributes e.g. text(%TXTCOLOR;%TXTSIZE;%TXTFONT).
How about calling it Midget?

The way I handle properties should allow tasker variables easily. In fact you should be able to set everything through them if you wanted.
Google is getting ready to allow in app purchases so I think I will just have a free version that you can donate from the app.
Midget doesn't quite work. I'm looking for something that describes it. Like make your own clock or minimalistic text.

Thank you for your feedback.
It uses the 24 hour setting from the system settings: settings / Date & Time / Use 24-hour format.
But I had some inconsistencies with this, so it might be wrong by default. When this setting has never been changed I cannot read a true/false status, but read a "null" value. When this happens I default to the am/pm format. A quick way around this is to go into the settings and tick the 24-hour tickbox and then untick it again.
The inconsistency is that on some phones the "null" defaults to am/pm format and on others to 24-hour format.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Ok, workaround worked for now

That's great.
In order to investigate this inconsistency, could you provide me with some info?
What phone do you have and what Android version (and rom if any) do you have. Could you also tell me if the 24-hour tickbox was enabled by default or not?
Much appreciated.
In order to make it bigger, the animation will get bigger exponentially. This will eat away more memory so I am not 100% sure I can achieve this. I will have a look how far I can stretch it, but with the current size I felt comfortable it will run on most phones.
I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (R800i), with Android 2.3.3, no root and no custom rom, locked bootloader.
Because i am from Germany, and we always use "Military-Time", my 24-hour tickbox was enabled by default.

Thank you very much. I will compile a list of occurrences and see if I can find a pattern.
This widget looks very cool together with a WidgetLocker-Lockscreen
Great work...works well on my wildfire. It would be great if you make it like htc sense clock.
Awesome !!!
Fantastic job. Works like a dream. Have never seen such smooth transition...
A few suggestions if you can incorporate...
1. Would like the widget to open up alarm application when i click on the widget in home screen. This helps me to set alarm directly instead of opening the clock from apps.
2. Try to make a calendar with day month & year so that even the day, & date can be added as another widget below the time....
Once again, great app

1. Would like the widget to open up alarm application when i click on the widget in home screen. This helps me to set alarm directly instead of opening the clock from apps.
2. Try to make a calendar with day month & year so that even the day, & date can be added as another widget below the time....
Once again, great app

Thanks for your feedback.
I have planned to add some customization in the near future, one of which is the ability to configure an application to launch when you tap on the clock.
The Calendar is a great idea. Though I think it would be better to place it either on the left or right (configurable) of the time in order to keep it a 4x1 widget. Any strong views on this?
I have mocked up a little graphic on how I think it could look:

Dude, the image is nice. However, I would suggest you to make it of the same size like the clock so that it can be added below the clock or maybe give us a choice of selection of size.
This way, if both clock & calendar are different, we can choose two different applications when we tap on these widgets.
Thanks again for your quick response.

I will take this into account. I think I will implement both, but as a different size widget. The idea I have is to have a 4x1 and a 4x2 widget, both where the date is optional. On the 4x1 it will sit on the side and on the 4x2 it will sit beneath.

+1 for this idea. I am working on my HTC sense theme, and this would be amazing to incorporate.

[WIDGET][2.1+][v.3.9.1] My Widget! Widgets in your way!

I have made a widget in which you can choose to display time, date, system information or your own quote in an easy way.
The best thing about this widget is that you can choose between over 60 fonts, and more are coming.
The layout of the widget is made so that it should be as easy as possible to make a great looking widget.
You can customize 2 texts in the same widget.
You can set the XY position of the text, its size, color, shadow, shadow size and position, background options and much more.
I would love to get some feedback on bugs, settings, preferred fonts and more.

I like how you can preview what it will look like in all the different fonts instead of just the one you select at a time. I haven't downloaded it, but I was wondering if it allows you to pull fonts from your SD card? As I have a folder with all of my custom fonts.
Looks cool...how do I add more than 1 element to a widget.
e.g. Time + Date on one widget? Am I being dumb?

Right now you can't do that, but I will try to add that function in future updates.
If you want you can email me that folder, and I will add some of the fonts you have there to the widget

Right now you can't, so you are not dumb. I am working on how to add that function, without making the app UI to complex. If you have any idéas please share them with me

Yes, I agree - it would likely require quite a UI change... your UI is good by the way.
You could keep a similar UI I suppose... have an 'Add new object' (eg) to the 'Text' tab (Time/System/Quote) and then the 'Font' and 'Shadow' tabs could be context-sensitive to whatever item was selected on the 'Text' tab. You would need to indicate what object was highlighted on all tabs.
Then, 'Text' could become 'Preview' and the 'Background' tab could actually be merged with the 'Preview' tab.
Only an idea... happy to discuss...

I like the idéas. I have begun to implement a similar idéa. I will have 4 tabs, Text1, text2, text3, and background. Each text tab control one text object on the widget, and can fully customize it. Text options and shadow options have been integrated to one, in each text tab. And to make sure that the preeview image is visible at all times it has been fixed at the top, and only the settings are scrollable. The font tab will be remowed and replaced by a button which launches a pop-up with all selectable fonts. The background-tab will handle background and general setting that are the same for all the text objects.
I think this would be the easiest approach, concerning user friendliness.
What do you think?
This looks very impressive!

Thx man! And it will be even more interesting in the future!
The next update will be out soon, but I am bashing my head in the wall unable to solve a wierd bug:
On some phones the phone needs to be rebooted after the widget have been installed in order to make the widget update itself. You can add it once, but if you configure it and make changes, it wont take effect until you reboot the phone, and after that you can make as many changes as you like...
Any idéas?

Hi,
Any chance you can put a feature where the widget will display the contents of a specified file (eg: /sdcard/something.txt) with a customisable number of minues where the file will be re-read?
Thanks.
Hi, first of all...thanks for a great app. I've had several people ask me about it.
Secondly, is there a chance you could either make version 3.2 available or add the fonts that were removed from that version? I'm specifically looking for the font in the third screenshot in the first post.
Thanks.
