Done, just two quick examples I have on my phone right now.

Posted 0.2 also added another screenshot to show the canvas layout ability.

Your dock is good

By fully editable, does this mean it will work on a Tab, 5x1 or 5x2? It looks really nice, and I am looking for something for weather on a Tab. Thanks for your work on this, even if it doesn't work on a Tab I will put this on my Fascinate or D1.

I played with it for almost 10 minutes and couldn't even figure out hoe to show a clock. All i see are color and alignment settings. Color and alignment of what i can't figure out.

Yes it supports those widget sizes. It is very easy to add additional sizes if one is desired.

After you add the first panel (canvas or stack) then you long press to add other elements. After talking with another user I see there is a need for a simple editor in addition to the advanced editor. I'm open to ideas on how that should work.

Such a good work!
Thanks, knoxcoder!
Got some FC's while making a template.
Going to restore my layout from mClock tomorrow.

Send me the logcat output when you get FCs so I can track them down.
As a side note, I have the weather ready. I don't have all the features that I want to support but at least the basics work. My next task is to make a create wizard that will walk you through the steps of making a simple layout. Once I get it ready I'll release the next version.

If you could add missed calls/sms/email in a simple minimalistic way like TxMissed Widget is supposed to do (it's really buggy, and dev has no time to mess with it) I would love you long time! And it's something I would definitely pay for.

That shouldn't be too difficult. I was also interested in what devmil did with Minimalistic Text and tasker. My plan was to replicate that as well.

Please do! And I'm sure I'm not the only one who would really want it, even if you put that feature in a pay version.. Otherwise you need to get your donate to me button added.

Integrating tasker variables is a great idea. Maybe even as attributes e.g. text(%TXTCOLOR;%TXTSIZE;%TXTFONT).

How about calling it Midget?
.hehe

The way I handle properties should allow tasker variables easily. In fact you should be able to set everything through them if you wanted.
Google is getting ready to allow in app purchases so I think I will just have a free version that you can donate from the app.
Midget doesn't quite work. I'm looking for something that describes it. Like make your own clock or minimalistic text.

TASKER/LOCALE PLUG-IN
In case you use Tasker/Locale application, I have included plug-in which displays "dynamic" text on your homescreen.
USAGE:
1. in the TEXT WIDGET set up unique name in advance settings (name, which will be used for communication between widget and Tasker/Locale application)
2. in the Tasker/Locale application create task and include this plugin. To set up the plugin, set the same name as used in widget and add any content to be displayed on the Android homescreen.
Tasker application allows variable replacement, so that it becomes very powerful tool for you if you are familiar with this application.

I'm looking for something like this, but that allows for multiple quotes and then randomly selects one. It can either be a background update or to change on click.

Yes, I know about it.
I believe this could be one of the next functionality addon.
@tampiss , first thing i tried is to add multiple widgets each with different text, but it's not possible like klaberr said... each widget should have it's own text .
and would you consider adding more font size if u plan another release ? maybe to 40 or 50

can you upload the apk here please.
Nice app. Love it.
Could you possibly include an option to put a shadow/outline for the font? So that the words will stand out against colourful background.
Thanks!
Love it, really good work and a perfect idea
Please add different widget sizes.
very nice! highly customisable compared to Simple Text. looking forward to the next update. thanks for sharing!
great idea, I really like it. can you please add cyan as a color option? #00ffff thanks
This is very cool and very smooth I love it! Maybe on future releases you can add font packs? Or maybe like an addon like with handcent so it doesn't make the app too big
Like this!
apk file please
Please add apk here.... Much easier than having to move from laptop to phone to download.

Bugs and Suggestions (complaints?)
Well, if you like it, hate it, have suggestions, or find bugs then post here. I may not be able to respond to every post, but I will read everyone of them. I promise. (full-time job, 2 kids, 1 cat, RC Helicopters, and oh yeah, dev?)
To do:
- ?ability to override/disable color chooser (tiny bit easier on battery)?
- ? remove App Tray Icon in pro version?

- Released Pro version to Market and removed the beta tag from Free version
- Set widget to check and restart service if missing ever 30 minutes
- Fixed size of user chosen custom background.
- Adjusted glass and background to same radius.
V0.6

v0.1
- Market launch

- 4x3 widget
Do you want to have your clock included?
If you are a better graphic artist than me and you would like your clock parts included in this application then get in contact! Make sure these graphics are yours and that you are okay with them being used royalty free.
Guidelines:
- The PNG is 294x294 with transparencies.
- Clock face, background and uh... other stuff should fit inside 280x280 (or inside a circle that is 280 across).
- Hands should be in separate graphics (minute, hour) and the pin/center needs to be centered on 147x147.
- I can send some layered guides in layered Gimp (.xcf) or separated into separate PNG format if needed.
To Do/Future/Maybe/Like-to-haves:
DONE - 8 bit graphics, currently using 4bit (ARGB4444) graphics to avoid crashing.
- Option - Choose to launch Android Alarm Clock on next click (Pro?)
- Ability to load local custom images (Pro?)
- Create pop-up notification that asks the user if they want to customize the clock when it is clicked. Dialog would time out after about 2 seconds (configurable?). Would save from accidentally opening clock configuration when using touch screen.
SOME - Clean up graphics and add improved graphics.
- Pro Version? - Possible Pro-options: extended graphics, loading custom images, Date, etc.
DONE - Glass as a separate selection from face and shadow (current problem is that it would require displaying another bitmap. It currently displays one bitmap {built from canvas} under the arms of the clock.)
- Remember user selection after leaving and returning to configuration activity(s)
- Add the current date and/or day of the week and/or month in a few locations on the clock display.
- Add the option of displaying a digital clock (also skin-able?) in a few places on the clock
- Possibility of future clock Packs. These could be themed and also the clock package could be open sourced so that artists do not have to release their clock packs through me, but can publish them directly to the market. Imagine a Minimalist pack, a Deviant Art pack, a Girly pack (you know, hearts, rainbows…)
- Add Easter eggs

At this point the 2x2 clock fits a clear QVGA screen, and the chooser seems to work, even though it is a bit squished. I think my official line is that it 'works' for QVGA, but is not currently supported.
The clocks them selves should work on any resolution screen (though they should not be stretched past a 4x4 icon space). But the chooser is not optimised for very high or very low resolution, but should work just fine.
I have released 0.3 of the clock and will update the first post today. Version .04 should be coming out before new year and will contain clearer clock edges and higher color graphics to support better gradients.

barcode is not working, rapidshare has reached limit???
Would love to download but like previous post RapidShare has reached limits and QR code not working.
This looks great, I was able to make one look exactly as I wanted. Only thing holding me back from using it is no access to alarms when tapping it like the stock clock widget. If you could add in this functionality it would probably immediately be the best clock widget on the market and worth paying a couple bucks for.
I can't find it in the market and i can't download it. Could've you upload it to xda?

I'll second this comment -- the typical use case for a clock widget is to fiddle around with it for a while until you get one you like, after which you probably won't change it for a while. Once it is set up, it's much more convenient to be able to access the alarm when you tap on the clock.
If the widget provided easy access to the alarm, I would definitely use it since the clocks themselves look great!

Sorry guys. it should be available from the market. Just search for Custom Clock. Should be right at the top. I will have to check the links and either fix (or remove) the Rapid Share link. I will also try to upload the newest version.
Love the 'thanks' messages and the screenshots! i would love to see more screenshots! Maybe I will upload my current. Home.
I am hoping to release a newer version soon, and hopefully it it might be ready for 1.0 releasise. When that happens I may keep the AD supported option with fewer options and graphics. Then release an AD free version with full options for $2, $1 or maybe $.50. LOL
Working on some new graphics and adding a Glass option for the next release. v1.0 I hope to have completely costomizable colors, and maybe the options to load a user chosen graphic for the Face.

Wonderful. I look forward to seeing this evolve. 1x1 would be a great option for those sensitive to screen flora
Btw. Search market for "custom clock widget" and it will rise above the pay for dross that it renders obsolete.

Ha!. Thank you.
I will consider a 1x1 widget if I get enough requests. I did not want to clutter it up too much. (BTW it resizes well from 4x4 to 1x1 if you are using a custom launcher like ADW or Launcher pro.)

Looks nice. Tap to open app is cool. I will be honest. Right now it's just like every other digital clock out there. Some things I can see that may set you apart.
1. A different name. everything is named "X clock" name it something like "Tom's Super Sexy Timepiece of the Future"
2. Add a feature to adjust scale. I have a big open space on my home screen for a nice free digital clock.
3. Integrate a multi-alarm system and/or datebook depending upon your level of ambition
4. Animations? Have a little man in a funny suit blow a horn on the screen when the alarm goes off and you have to punch the little [email protected]#tard to shut off your alarm
5. Multi-language? I dont speak any others but I have heard some people do
6. Borders around the clock
7. ability to control font and scale of date separately
who the hell am I? Lol. Looks nice, will continue using it. Does it auto-update?

Thank you for your feedback.
It uses the 24 hour setting from the system settings: settings / Date & Time / Use 24-hour format.
But I had some inconsistencies with this, so it might be wrong by default. When this setting has never been changed I cannot read a true/false status, but read a "null" value. When this happens I default to the am/pm format. A quick way around this is to go into the settings and tick the 24-hour tickbox and then untick it again.
The inconsistency is that on some phones the "null" defaults to am/pm format and on others to 24-hour format.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Ok, workaround worked for now
Hope you can make the widget "bigger"

That's great.
In order to investigate this inconsistency, could you provide me with some info?
What phone do you have and what Android version (and rom if any) do you have. Could you also tell me if the 24-hour tickbox was enabled by default or not?
Much appreciated.
In order to make it bigger, the animation will get bigger exponentially. This will eat away more memory so I am not 100% sure I can achieve this. I will have a look how far I can stretch it, but with the current size I felt comfortable it will run on most phones.
I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play (R800i), with Android 2.3.3, no root and no custom rom, locked bootloader.
Because i am from Germany, and we always use "Military-Time", my 24-hour tickbox was enabled by default.

Thank you very much. I will compile a list of occurrences and see if I can find a pattern.
This widget looks very cool together with a WidgetLocker-Lockscreen
Great work...works well on my wildfire. It would be great if you make it like htc sense clock.
Awesome !!!
Fantastic job. Works like a dream. Have never seen such smooth transition...
A few suggestions if you can incorporate...
1. Would like the widget to open up alarm application when i click on the widget in home screen. This helps me to set alarm directly instead of opening the clock from apps.
2. Try to make a calendar with day month & year so that even the day, & date can be added as another widget below the time....
Once again, great app

Thanks for your feedback.
I have planned to add some customization in the near future, one of which is the ability to configure an application to launch when you tap on the clock.
The Calendar is a great idea. Though I think it would be better to place it either on the left or right (configurable) of the time in order to keep it a 4x1 widget. Any strong views on this?
I have mocked up a little graphic on how I think it could look:

Dude, the image is nice. However, I would suggest you to make it of the same size like the clock so that it can be added below the clock or maybe give us a choice of selection of size.
This way, if both clock & calendar are different, we can choose two different applications when we tap on these widgets.
Thanks again for your quick response.

I will take this into account. I think I will implement both, but as a different size widget. The idea I have is to have a 4x1 and a 4x2 widget, both where the date is optional. On the 4x1 it will sit on the side and on the 4x2 it will sit beneath.

[WIDGET][2.1+][v.3.9.1] My Widget! Widgets in your way!

I have made a widget in which you can choose to display time, date, system information or your own quote in an easy way.
The best thing about this widget is that you can choose between over 60 fonts, and more are coming.
The layout of the widget is made so that it should be as easy as possible to make a great looking widget.
You can customize 2 texts in the same widget.
You can set the XY position of the text, its size, color, shadow, shadow size and position, background options and much more.
I would love to get some feedback on bugs, settings, preferred fonts and more.

I like how you can preview what it will look like in all the different fonts instead of just the one you select at a time. I haven't downloaded it, but I was wondering if it allows you to pull fonts from your SD card? As I have a folder with all of my custom fonts.
Looks cool...how do I add more than 1 element to a widget.
e.g. Time + Date on one widget? Am I being dumb?

Right now you can't do that, but I will try to add that function in future updates.
If you want you can email me that folder, and I will add some of the fonts you have there to the widget

Right now you can't, so you are not dumb. I am working on how to add that function, without making the app UI to complex. If you have any idéas please share them with me

Yes, I agree - it would likely require quite a UI change... your UI is good by the way.
You could keep a similar UI I suppose... have an 'Add new object' (eg) to the 'Text' tab (Time/System/Quote) and then the 'Font' and 'Shadow' tabs could be context-sensitive to whatever item was selected on the 'Text' tab. You would need to indicate what object was highlighted on all tabs.
Then, 'Text' could become 'Preview' and the 'Background' tab could actually be merged with the 'Preview' tab.
Only an idea... happy to discuss...

I like the idéas. I have begun to implement a similar idéa. I will have 4 tabs, Text1, text2, text3, and background. Each text tab control one text object on the widget, and can fully customize it. Text options and shadow options have been integrated to one, in each text tab. And to make sure that the preeview image is visible at all times it has been fixed at the top, and only the settings are scrollable. The font tab will be remowed and replaced by a button which launches a pop-up with all selectable fonts. The background-tab will handle background and general setting that are the same for all the text objects.
I think this would be the easiest approach, concerning user friendliness.
What do you think?

The next update will be out soon, but I am bashing my head in the wall unable to solve a wierd bug:
On some phones the phone needs to be rebooted after the widget have been installed in order to make the widget update itself. You can add it once, but if you configure it and make changes, it wont take effect until you reboot the phone, and after that you can make as many changes as you like...
Any idéas?

Hi,
Any chance you can put a feature where the widget will display the contents of a specified file (eg: /sdcard/something.txt) with a customisable number of minues where the file will be re-read?
Thanks.
Hi, first of all...thanks for a great app. I've had several people ask me about it.
Secondly, is there a chance you could either make version 3.2 available or add the fonts that were removed from that version? I'm specifically looking for the font in the third screenshot in the first post.
Thanks.
