Moto X GSM radio modem on Nexus 5?? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi to all
i have a NEXUS 5 and i wonder if someone flashed or tried to flash the modem radio GSM to Nexus 5.
thank u

Go ahead and brick your device. Don't ever flash a radio from one device to another. OK....

Let 'em find out the hard way

How people flash radios, firmwares, roms of 2 different phones and brick their device is beyond me. If I have a Nexus 5, why would I search for a rom on the HTC One X forum?
*Sigh*

flashed from Moto x to Droid maxx and viceversa and it works
ok,got it.
maybe i want too much
thanks for the response

Moto to moto and moto to LG. Two different companies. But if you want to try using that rationale go ahead.... ?

My friend....unless I'm mistaken, you bricked your moto? Apologies if I'm mistaken.
Please, don't do anything without thoroughly reading first, and fully understanding what you are about to do. And NEVER flash anything that isn't CLEARLY for the Nexus 5.
I would read through the stickies and study all the guides, before flashing anything at all.
Not picking on you....just trying to help you avoid a disaster. ?

I'm sure you've gotten eaten enough out here but the only modem I knew to be cross flashable was modified too. It was the Samsung Blaze modem. Otherwise, you should take an assumption it'll brick your phone.

New Nexus S person/user/thingamabob

Hey Nexus S forum,
I've got this nexus S from my friend. I've been a hero user, but I ended up buying it for like 50 bucks (steal right?). He decided he wanted a different phone, anyways nor the time or place.
With my HTC Hero (Sprint) I know if I want to wipe my phone of music/video/pictures I can just format my SD Card.
My question for you guys/gals is how would I go about doing that with the Nexus S. I know since it has built in Storage there really isn't a way i could "format" if I am correct. Will i have to essentially just select and delete all the folders?
If there is an easier way, like maybe should i go factory reset, or maybe some other route that'd be great.
Anyways just thought I'd come here before messing with it.
p.s.
Is flashing and everything going to be similar to how i would with the Hero, or is there anything maybe slightly different that I need to do?
Alright Thanks everyone for your input.
Delete the whole sdcard by either going to storage tab in settings menu or format sdcard via cwm recovery.
Thank You
Thank you much for the info. I'll try that tonight and install a ROM i've been wanting to try for awhile [MIUI]
Thanks again for the heads up!

Flashing roms and kernels are just like any other android phone with an unlocked bootloader. Enjoy! Just make sure the rom you download is compatible with your model. There are three major versions of the nexus s. The GT-i9020, GT-i9023, and SPH-D720. When flashing a stock rom it is important to get the rom for your exact model. Example GT-i9020a for AT&T's model, or GT-i9020t for T-Mobile etc.

good question - on one hand, I would think so, as the difference would be just in the SIM card. but on the other hand, there could some VZW info on the custom ROMs that may not jive with a non-VZW phone.
I'll defer to someone with more experience.
sorry I could not be of any help on this.
The US Cellular Galaxy S Aviator, despite being the same phone, was not compatible with the recovery from this phone, and without that, you're getting nowhere. Back when the Aviator came out, someone was able to get a copy of the stock Odin from the phone, and imnuts used that to build a CWM recovery for it so superuser could be flashed. Something similar could probably be done here, but I wouldn't know where to start.
Having the version from the software might be helpful. I know the Aviator versions are different than the Charge. If the Lightray is the same as either, there is a chance that the recovery is the same as the matching phone, but even that is no guarantee. If you can't get the stock Odin to recover from, you'll probably be risking a brick to find out.

Is the Galaxy S Lightray 4G Metropcs 'unrootable'?
HELP! Is Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G 'unrootable'??
I have tried three different techniques, to root the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G Metropcs, all to NO AVAIL!
My first feeble attempt was using SuperOneClick=softbrick ie, stuck on download screen,
Then I tried the basic Odin flash, with stock uckk4 ROM=Odin stuck in 'set up, battery died while waiting, as 'NOT to turn off Target'=softbrick,
and last but by no means least, the Droid Charge technique=hardbrick
HELP!!! I have scoured the net and can find NOTHING that has proven to be successful!
To make matters worse, it's not even my phone! I was trying to help my brother in law, since he and my sis are moving out of state, California, and are going to need to sign with different server once they've passed Texas, I believe, on their way to South Carolina.
Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G

You'll need a custom recovery, and as far as I know, there isn't one for the Lightray. I don't think any devs even have the phone, either. The only real chance is to get a stock Odin image and the source to someone who knows how to work with recoveries.
:/

There has been a lot of 'Dare ya..."s, but no one yet to put you back together once you fall and brick!
I just picked up one of these things and have it rooted but am not having any luck finding a rom for it... Has anyone gotten a lightray to take ICS?

I haven't found one who did, although, I thought maybe (I could be really wrong) that you could cross boot CM 10.1 of another device with similar specs. It could be an option
Anything going on with the Galaxy Lightray?
They just dropped the price to $99, going to get one for my wife since I broke her phone last night. I see a root for it, but no roms.
thanks.

Nope, tried that one before it bricked with ODIN....Trouble is, still no recovery ROM and it's nearing 2 since it's release. Here I STILL sit with a R940 with less then a couple months talk time on it! Phhhffffffffffffttttttttttttt

(Q) Bootlooping Motorola splash screen unknown android version

I'm looking to buy a Motorola atrix 2 really cheap. The only thing is the seller says its bootlooping and they don't know how to fix it and they said it happened after cyanogen was put on it. Considering they didn't seem to know what that even was I doubt they know whether its cm7,9, or 10.
That being said I've done some reading about soft bricks, boot loops, fxz, and whatnot on the atrix 2 but being as I've never messed with flashing one of these phones I have no idea if its something I can recover. Im not new to the flashing process but Motorola appears to be a much different animal compared to Samsung phones. Can anyone advise how to go about getting it up and running or whether its even possible in its current state with the limited info I have.

It should be fine to reflash FXZ, just bes sure what region you're AT&T, India or China (Retail). Retail fw can downgrade & change to any other non AT&T fw...

If you google lg G3 back to stock you'll see my back to stock guide. You'd just follow the tot method. I also think there's a back to stock guide as well in the general section.

Sorry don't really keep up with root at all as I usually just deal with stock lg stuff. I owned the G3 little after it came out. Owned it for 2 months and sold it. Had so many problems with it. I own a G2 for my 2nd line running cloudy and it's perfect. Don't really like putting a phone down but I had nothing but issues stock firmware on the D850 was the worst.

You saying that makes me feel like I downgrade. The Moro x is such a beast phone to me it was
I said root but meant to say how to install custom recovery and a Rom

Worth Rooting ???

I was sent the LG G5 from Assurant insurance after making a claim for my previous phone which was an HTC M10 and I really loved that phone and was really pissed at first but I really like this G5 now.
Development for the HTC 10 is pretty active and LOS Roms have very few bugs in them compared to the list I have seen for this phone. is it worth rooting this phone? If I root it would solely be to flash LOS based Roms are they stable enough to be daily drivers.
Also is there a way to go back to stock without detection of evening rooting the phone? Would I void out my phone if I wanted to jump to another one?

I've had the H830 for a long time and can't even imagine owning a phone that I couldn't root. Yes you can root it. I would. Just follow the directions that are in the threads on xda. You can relock the bootloader so you won't void the warranty and no one will know that you ever messed with it
If you need help rooting it, let me know. Good luck!
