Thank you for the rom, will try this one. Is the latest Version of TWRP really necessary or is the most common version 2.633 good for installation?

No, it's stock rom without any modifications. You can root it yourself if need.

To better understand. I have an s-on m7. If I extract the boot.img from the zip and flash it via fastboot and then flash the rom via twrp, will I be able to install this rom and not end up in a bootloop?

I did as you advise and it worked. I'm now having a great GPE based Rom on my S-on device. Everything is smooth and works as it should. A very big and appreciative thanks. Great work and kudos!

4.4.4 ready OP

Has anyone tried installing this over ARHD 6.1 (GE 4.4.3)? I am guessing it should work without wiping if I erase dalvik/cache after flashing.
Edit: Tried it myself. Works just fine. Happily using 4.4.4.

Is this build any different from the Skydragon build of @HolyAngel ? I'm using that with the ElementalX 15.1 GPE kernel.

To be honest, many people have reported problems with TWRP 2.5.0.0. I too have reverted to 2.3.3.0 to avoid possible problems. Maybe you can give it a try.

you need a newer/updated SU installer. 4.3 has some new security features so an old SU wont work.

Thank you so much! So from what I understand, this is 4.3 and all it requires is flashing it through a custom recovery and then installing the SuperSU you linked to above and everything will work fine? I was wondering if custom kernels that are designed to work with Sense-based as well as GPE-based ROMs would actually work with that one? They work on GPE 4.2 just fine, like Bulletproof and ElementalX.
Thanks for the update!!! I just flash this in TWR, but it failed to flash...any help???

I could never get this image to install when I've tried it -- I suspect it requires a 4.2.X or earlier recovery to flash. (This image is quite old) My 4.3.1 recovery throws errors with this one.

Help flashing 4.4

I'm able to install several 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 based ROMs, but I've tried 3 different 4.4 based ROMs and they all failed. Anything I should know about TWRP flashing 4.4 ROM to D2VZW SGS3? I used Casual to root and unlock. I've jumped around to different kernels but back at stock. I tried a few 4.4 and 4.3 kernels when trying to install kitkat roms but that didn't matter either, still got a FAIL in TWRP. I wiped dalvik, cache and data, and even system, abd a few times more than once. Any ideas?
You running the latest TWRP? Maybe try CWM. Why do you use TWRP?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
you MUST use the latest CWM 6.0.4.3 in order to flash 4.4. team wins will not work. i recommend the touch CWM it is pretty sweet.

That's not correct... The latest twrp works fine on 4.4 roms... the only one it doesn't work with is the new liquid and I've flashed every 4.4 rom out there...twrp 2.6.3.1 or cwm 6.0.4.3 are what you need

YevOmega I started with CWM back in the days, but switched to TWRP, something about touch screen menu and OTG that got me. I'm a sucker for technical evolution. I am glad to see CWM Touch is out finally and I'll give it a try if TWRP lets me down or doesn't keep providing updates.

5.1.1 to CM12.1 advice please

Hi
Stock 5.1.1 LMY48B
rooted with TWRP installed.
Can I flash to CM12.1 just by flashing the zip from TWRP ?
will I lose any data ? Do I need to worry about bootloader or radio versions ?
If I want to go back is it as simple as flashing my nandroid backup ?
Thanks

As I know going from rom to rom you need to make a factory reset.
That will remove all what is stored on /data
All apps, cache and dalvik cache.
All other data insidr /storage/sdcard will be on safe
As I know stock rom cannot be restored, but I just take this device before 1 day. I don't know for that, because on mine previous phone that was impossible

CM nightlies include a radio and bootloader so you don't have to worry about that.

Even if I never tried you should be able to restore a stock nandroid backup thru TWRP (you don't flash anything).
Thanks I'll try this at the weekend ?

No they don't.
But since he's upgraded to stock 5.1.x already, everything is up to date and there's nothing to worry about. Besides, Google's bootloaders usually have good forward- and backward-compatibility.

From Jira:
Me => CM (AOSP) is the only rom which has a bootloader and a radio into its zip. Why? Could you remove them?
I was on the newest bootloader HHz12f and a radio from KRT16M. Every time I flash CM nightlies I have to update my bootloader and flash an older radio. Very annoying.
Thank you.
CM Team => Sorry, we will continue to ship both. It saves us more headaches in the long run. Thanks for your understanding.
It's as simple as that.

Custom ROMs have a check into their update-script for the bootloader version. If you don't have the good one then you can't flash it.
