I'm able to install several 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 based ROMs, but I've tried 3 different 4.4 based ROMs and they all failed. Anything I should know about TWRP flashing 4.4 ROM to D2VZW SGS3? I used Casual to root and unlock. I've jumped around to different kernels but back at stock. I tried a few 4.4 and 4.3 kernels when trying to install kitkat roms but that didn't matter either, still got a FAIL in TWRP. I wiped dalvik, cache and data, and even system, abd a few times more than once. Any ideas?
You running the latest TWRP? Maybe try CWM. Why do you use TWRP?

That's not correct... The latest twrp works fine on 4.4 roms... the only one it doesn't work with is the new liquid and I've flashed every 4.4 rom out there...twrp 2.6.3.1 or cwm 6.0.4.3 are what you need

YevOmega I started with CWM back in the days, but switched to TWRP, something about touch screen menu and OTG that got me. I'm a sucker for technical evolution. I am glad to see CWM Touch is out finally and I'll give it a try if TWRP lets me down or doesn't keep providing updates.

CWM touch used to give issues. Idk if it still does. Stick to regular CWM. I understand that you want touch, as do I, but...

Glad I could help. I'm going to switch to 4.4 tomorrow. Any reason you chose CyanFox and over Gummy or HellFire? I'm not sure which to pick. They seem to have similar cherry picks.

Is there a thread or something that list the difference in recoveries we have available? I'm rooted and unlocked if that helps with anything.
Oh and I did do a search but it was on my phone and the results weren't what I needed.

Cwm 6.0.1.x works with everything.
I use CWM 5.x.x.x being that it is the stable release and you can install it with ez recovery. TWP I haven't messed with because it doesn't work with everything, As the post above mentioned CWM 6. Its a leaked version so it could have issues but from what I've heard works well.
How is cwm6 leaked when it can be built from source?

TWRP works fine too btw...

I still have CWM v6.0.1.0 and was wondering about the CWM v6.0.1.2, Should I go ahead and install the newer version?
(I'm a diehard Motorola user that reluctantly switched to the SCH-I535 and am very glad I did switch so this is my first non-Motorola)
Hey everyone, I've been having my second brick dilemma over the past 24 hours. It seems that the latest version available via ROM Manager hasn't been installing correctly for Optimus One users (I've seen multiple cases). I'm very weary in trying to install CWM through RM again, and I want to know what the latest stable version you guys have is. Either that, or a recovery similar to CWM and can install CM10 again for me.
CWM 5.0.2.0, I have been using it for ten months without a single issue.

Alright. Do you know where I can find the recovery image? I don't trust ROM Manager to install it, as that's the one that was being installed when my phone bricked.

There's a list of flashable recovery zips in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523050
To install, just flash them using your current recovery.

Seeing as how I have the Optimus T (Basically the One with the old BB, new one doesn't allow networking as far as I can tell), would Touch work with it? I updated via ROM this time and now have 5.0.2.0 installed. :highfive:
Stable recovery
TOUCH RECOVERY of CWM 5.0.2.7 by vivekalady is the most stable . you can get it in the forum.or u may try twrp recovery.

Thanks. As I'm using the Optimus T with an upgraded Base Band, I'll hold off on the Touch version for now, but I'll definitely keep it in mind and try it later. There's really no part of this forum dedicated to the T, because it has a weird resemblance to the One but isn't like it in all ways.
Hi
Im currently running CleanRom 3. I want to try out the new Cyanogenmod 4.2. In the description it says CWM, but i use TWRP [latest one i think]. Is it possible to install it without installing clockwork?
No U can't. Cyanogenmod after succesfull instlling, will modify CWM recovery. If you had TWRP, It would hard brick your Tablet. I'm not Quite Sure, but everyone installs CM on CWM. You'd better be carefull if you don't want to have very expensive desk.
Sorry, becouse my english isn't very well, I hope I helped you.
I use Twrp 2.2.2 all the time and. No issues with any of the 4.2 roms.
Yes you can use twrp. Just make sure you use the latest version add that is fixed for multi user support introduced with 4.2 jelly bean. Goto twrp website to make sure you have the latest. That guy in the first reply is wrong saying you have to use cwm.

Oy, I gotta be a newb....
I've been using CWM for a looong time, then I switched to TWRP. It seems to work slightly faster, but I was wondering...is TWRP better overall for our partitioning, or does CWM do a decent enough job? I like the feature in TWRP, but I hear theat CMW Touch can do everything the samw way...
Any thoughts?
Looks to me CM lacks features and is slower than twrp but twrp has many features and is faster.
Twrp also saves more recovery space and has the ability to name backups and restore specific functions.
Still, I stick with cwm as I am more likely to use.
Its a matter of opinion. Everyone has a different opinion. Like SomCom said. TWRP has more features than CWM. That features you see in CWM is in TWRP. You can also theme TWRP. Don't know if you can do that in CWM though.. in my opinion TWRP has a better UI. Looks more holo.

Ok, I'll stick with CMW for now, but will upgrade to TWRP for future experimentation...
BTW, did you say you have CARBON ROM on your Blaze? Link Me, link me! Does it work with Wi-Fi?

Its in the Dev section. There's two versions. One is SomComs which is built from source. Mine is a dirty port.. And no. WiFi is not working on either of them.

Interesting... I've wondered about the differences as well. Been happy with CWM (currently using the touch version) but I like the idea of being able to label my backups in TWRP. I might have to give it a go.
If love TWRP's interface so far but I've found one minor downfall... it doesn't add a reboot option on the power menu like CWM did. The "reboot into recovery" option. Everything else is great. The ability to customize the options, name your backups, scroll down the list of files, etc... very nice.
EDIT: I'm an idiot. I forgot the reboot options don't pop up until after you select Reboot from the power menu. Duh! :screwy:

Sorry man, but i am new to this stuff, bare with me. Recovery? Is that the program i use to flash ROMS and other things to my phone? I have the Team Win Recovery Project and i hate it. I read that i need to update this before i flash so i did and it still happened. I want to delete the Team Win Recovery Project and go back to Clockwork Mod (i think its called). Any idea how to do this?
Download flashify from play store and use it. It will let you download and flash either recovery. There's a variety of other apps and ways as well. In all honesty though, if you're using the latest version of twrp then you shouldn't have a problem flashing if you're trying the appropriate roms for your phone.
