Holder for motorbike handlebar? - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Accessories

I would like to use my note 8 on my motorbike and I'm searching for a
holder so I can mount it to the handlebar, but I can't find one on the usual sites. Any serious hints would be highly appreciated.

Normally I would say a Spiderpodium <http://www.breffo.com/> and maybe sugru that to the bike if you want it more permanate.

I used a Slip-Grip RAM mount on my SV650 for my iPhone 5--worked great (sold the bike). You have to pick if you want it for a specific case, or no case. IIRC, my buddy dropped the bike which broke off the tab that holds the phone in--but he did drop it on that side.
Since I'm too new to post links, just Google Slip Grip Car mounts. SLIP-GRIP-RAM-HOL-HOLDER for Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is the one I would probably get (unless you ride in inclement weather; then consider one that allows a water resistant case).
This one also needs the appropriate RAM mount for your bike--RAM makes a center mount and a handlebar mount (might even be others). The nice thing about buying this separate is that you can always keep the mount, but upgrade/change the phone holding component later.

The Best Car Dock Confirmed!

Ok, I've been a very proud owner of the Samsung Omnia i8910 for a few months now... Still considering which phone I'm going to keep now after getting the Nexus one.
But I just wanted to confirm that awhile back I bought a car dock/holder for the Omnia but to my suprise and delight it fits the Nexus absolutely perfect. IMO this is the best car holder on the market. Proclip USA makes excellent products and I can confirm this particular dock is not only excellent but fits the N1 perfect as well.
Defininetly more expensive than others especially those you can find on ebay from china... but for me well worth it. If anyone is considering this their website - proclipusa.com - you need to select your country and then they give you the option for make of car and make of phone. Obviously there is no selection for the Nexus one but I can guarantee the model of phone you need to select is the Samsung i8910 Omnia HD, the product number is - 511020 - put that in the search and you'll find it. This is for the Holder with tilt swivel which is perfect for maps & navigation as you can swivel it landscape for great looking directions... they even have a model with a built in charger but I just opted for the holder with tilt swivel.
I am not affiliated with this company whatsoever just a happy customer.
Again it is expensive but I love it and love the fact you can select the make of your car and it comes pre-configured to mount to it.
**Edit: Forgot to mention there is no drilling and messing up your dash... just simply applies with a sticky backing and can easily be uninstalled without any damage whatsoever.
I am not sure that what you are describing or the pictures attached are what is typically considered to be a dock.
A dock would include a charging station, that is the purpose of the contacts on the bottom of the Nexus one. Ideally, the docking station would allow you to use transmit the Nexus One media thru the auto sound system.
Thanks for the information but that is a phone holder not a dock. The dock will be capable of charging the phone through the contact points on the bottom of the N1. The dock may also interface with your car radio and possibly other functions yet to be determined.

link? can you provide a link from where you bought the dock from?
Yes I think I put the link in at the OP but its at proclipusa.com
Also stated I believe is that yes I just bout the holder and since there is an opening at the bottom charging is perfect as it hooks up right to the bottom but I didn't get the other version offered which included a coiled charging station.
I do like the look of that phoneclip, however my only concern that I can see is, how does the phone not vibrate out of it while its horizontal?
This fits the N1 so good that it almost takes two hands to pull it out... there's no way it can come out without pulling it out and certainly not due to vibration.
Would it being as tight as you say, cause it to wear out on the phones material on the sides?

Seconded, this would be good to know too. Although I've already ordered one, which hopefully should just connect to the existing brodit mount I had for my Touch Pro 2.
Wow, I checked into that website. I really like the interface of the website. How it shows pictures of your specific dash, and where and how the phone will sit. Very expensive. I mean 65 bucks, for the setup and that is only the mount and swivel. No way. When the real Nexus One docks come out. The Car Mount is going to be 50 and the desktop mount will be 40. Both the dock's will use the gold contacts on the bottom for charging. And the car dock should have options to work directly with car stereo (optional of course).
Wait guys it's coming about 10 day is my guess.
Well mine came in the post today. Screwed onto the existing mount I had for my Touch Pro 2 just fine. The N1 does indeed fit fine but is very tight. Didn't scratch the phone and no way is it falling out when horizontal.
I've been using my Iphone in car with this dock.
Just Mobile Xtand Go (google it)
I was really impressed to see that it EXACTLY fits my N1
IMHO, it's really the best dock around
now...i am just missing FM transmission.
Would you need pics...please request
I am using this car dock until the real Nexus One docks are ready. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DQQBVW...e=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B001DQQBVW
If you are looking for a good bluetooth stereo for your nexus that works really well. Try this one. http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_105KDA805/JVC-Arsenal-KD-A805.html?search=JVC+KDA805&ssi=0
Once you sync your stereo with your phone the first time. You can just leave your phone in your pocket if you want, you can answer phone calls from your stereo, or even make them from your stereo if you want, you can listen to music from your phone on the stereo by just using the stereo's remote. With you phone still in your pocket.
If a person doesnt want to replace their stereo and just want's to use a fm transmitter. Get the motorola t505 I used it for 3 months it does work. Hands free driving syncs with any stereo any car. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875982214&Tpk=motoraloa t505
The ProClip holders are quite nice, but I think the Omnia II might be a better fit:
Nexus One: 119 x 59.8 x 11.5
Omnia II: 118 x 59.6 x 12.3
Omnia i8910: 123 x 58 x 12.9
The OmniaII's width is just .2mm thinner than the Nexus and thickness is only .8 thicker.

BEST Phone holder.. BY FAR
bought this to use with my G1 back when the Sprint Hero Nav app was dumped.. used it many times and works excellent with the Nexus One as well ... it rotates landscape and it unclips to use in the dash vent .. i originally wanted it because it doesnt interfere with the touchscreen and its low profile wont let it vibrate too much..and it has a good grasp on the phone without damage (i run a track setup on my suspension with competition spring rates and coilovers.. along with solid engine mounts)

just got mine in today... it's legit badass. very sturdy and it's a suction cup that actually holds suction. the actually phone holder offers 360 degrees rotation and tilt. i give it two thumbs up!
I just got one from http://www.thecellguru.com/Products/26866 for a little under $33 delivered. I have used Cellularaccessory (the OP's source) in the past and found them very helpful as well.
The mount is "OK" in my book. While nicely made and holds the phone well, it isn't anywhere near as adjustable as I would like in terms of angles. There is only a small amount of adjustability in the ball joint that connects the cradle to the arm, perhaps +/- 20 degrees.
Another drawback is it launches the &*^%ing car-mode app/screen and ties it to the home button, which makes for a less-than-useful phone (until I can figure out how to customize that app away).
On the plus side, the lever for the suction cup is very easy to use (much better than, for example, the twist-to-lock used by TomTom).
I also like that there isn't stress on the phone's micro-USB connector. That connector has been a failure point on other phones.
It includes a standard Samsung CLA, which may or may not be able to provide the 1.1A that the T959V can take to charge. I use a USB cable and the Elago 1A (dual) CLA-to-USB which lets me charge the phone, as well as a headset/speakerphone from a single socket. Apparently Amazon has seen enough sales of the Elago line (love their Nano II microSDHC reader) that they have picked them up themselves. JoWow has been good in the past for many orders and Elago items (they were previously the only Amazon-related source).
I'll probably end up ditching the suction-cup arm and figuring out how to better mount the cradle. From what I have read, it isn't the industry-standard pattern, so it will have to be something custom.
I actually made my own mount using a cheap piece of crap mount off Amazon and my old Magellan GPS mount. I took the front part that actually holds the phone, and used a dremel tool to cut new holes in the back so that it would slide on to the arm assembly of the GPS mount. Fits perfect and looks awesome. Best of all, it doesn't fall off my windshield anymore!
Anyone have an issue using a bluetooth headset while docked? It seems to disable unless I undock, make call, and redock.

Car Charger and Dash Mount

Ever since I found out kids with better parents than mine could movies in their car I wanted to the same. Except I would be driving not riding.
Helpful tool: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004M8ST36/ref=oh_o02_s00_i00_details
It says windshield mount but I use it on my dash and it works perfectly fine. An important note (for all suction based cradles): heat your car up first as cold air and suction cups do not mix well for your device's longevity.
Charging while doing so: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MUBXO6/ref=oh_o01_s00_i00_details
A highly reviewed item but one which I think has damaged my battery as my battery life is now awful. I suggest searching for the official Samsung car charger instead.
I've always used the ProClip Move system (branded as Brodit outside of the US) so any of our devices can move between any of the mounts in our cars. Nice thing is it is secure from falling (i trust this more than suction cups which always seem to fail for me) and it's fast to just slide the device in and out. proclipusa.com
Does the proclip mount for the GT7 (1st Gen) Tab work for the GT7+?
Here's another option: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/ECS-K1E2BEGSTA

I've never used the ProClip device specific mounts. I usually either stick the Move system male onto the cardock of my devices or for the tablets, I stick it to the case I'm using. I like the thin quality of the Move system as I can stick them to the device's case and not add a lot of bulk.
I have vehicle specific Proclip mounts that then have the female Move adapter attached. This way no matter which of us drive either vehicle, my wife and i always have a way of mounting any of our devices to the dash.
edit: I must add that the Samsung official vehicle mount for this that theundeadelvis linked to is intriguing - just really expensive compared to the price of the actual unit. The other problem with that mount is that you probably wouldn't be able to use it with a case. The major advantage is the 30-pin connector looks like it would be a clean looking slide-in instead of mine where the power cable hangs loose when the tablet isn't in my mount.
bought mine yesterday....the dash mount...on RM 30 (or US$ 10)...

Do you have a link?
I just got this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/car-ab...-cup-for-samsung-galaxy-tab-p1000-black-54828
It works, though a bit tight. I heated up the 90 degree angle plastic part of the thinner "one arm" end of it and bent it out a little bit to make it easier to get the Tab in. That's all it needed, really, though it did work without modification too
Just be careful, as in many US states, having a screen visible to the driver displaying videos is illegal (not to mention, probably really dangerous). With a dashmount it'd also be extremely easy to see from another vehicle.
That's why you see the in-car video monitors almost always visible only from the rear seat. Otherwise if they're visible from the front they typically have a gear-lock so they won't display when the vehicle is in motion.
Just a heads up. Stay safe!

Indeed. It is foolishly dangerous to drive while watching South Park. I try to mitigate the danger by watching during deadlock traffic.
Another note to fellow drivers:
I believe simply having such a large object on the dash can count as obstructing your view so that is an additional risk.
first post
Honestly if you have the funds go and get a ram mount you will not be sorry. I've had it with cheap mounts that fall off the windshield, a PITA to adjust or keep needing adjustments and stuck with the 1 size works for everything designs.
Won't let me post links so search for "RAM X-Grip II Universal Spring Loaded Tablet Holder & Mounts"
The arms and ball are made from aluminum and powder coated, the ball is also rubber coated. It's a universal system so it be configured however you like. Add another arm, swap the short arm for a longer one, want 2-3 arms? windshield suction cup to a handle bar mount no problem. Have the suction cup but no where to put it on windshield? get a adhesive suction cup base (sticky backed disc mounts on rough surface --->dash so the suction cup will work) they even sell the bean bag mounts too (weighted and anti-slip)
I have 2 of these currently. the one on my quad is 5 years old handle bar mount with the standard arm holding a gps (garmin 78cxs water resistant up to 8 hours and floats) I rolled my quad, smacked tree branches and crashed my body into it when i drive into a mudholes. With the countless car washes to remove the dust, clay, mud etc this mount has never let me down, it stay on my quad all the time, zero corrosion, all the hardware is stainless steel. I even used this on the boat (salt water) borrowed the suction cup off the cell phone mount.
the windshield mount for my cell phone is rock solid and never moves or needs adjustment once set (universal cell phone holder). Very little flex (all from the bit of flex from the rubber suction cup). hardly any vibration at all. No problems reading incoming text while on the road. I save the replies for the lights.
---------- Post added at 09:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:35 PM ----------
Like to add I know it's like 50-60 bucks but it will be your last mount you will ever buy. If i ever replace my quading GPS it would only cost me 10-14 bucks for new holder i can reuse everything else.
I found these at my local GPS store.
Anyone know if the tab + would fit in the original tab car mount?
It will fit but not perfectly. The fit is very tight. It helps to sand down the original mount to make the 7+ fit a little better. Not an ideal solution but you can make do if is all you have. And the charging does work with the 7+.
The OEM mount from Samsung also puts the Tab+ into "car mode". This keeps the backlight on if using for GPS or to watch videos.
As far as I can tell, they either haven't started making the mount for the Tab+ or it is severly backordered. I have been waiting for an email from Samsung announcing it is available for order, for a couple months now.
Also, RAM has a Tab+ specific mount for around $20. You can then decide if you want to pay extra for a suction cup add-on or a permanent mount. These add-on mounts also will attach to the OEM mount, since it uses a standard slide lock found on most high end vehicle mounts/cradles.

I did a google search on possibly installing the tab in my car as a replacement for my head unit.I think I came across your install from your sig I saw on the tab?
Yeah that is my install. Let me know if you have any questions on how I did it or what its like to live with on a daily basis.

Cheaper solution to OEM phone mount that works!

If anyone is looking to buy a phone mount for his/her car but doesn't want to spend over $50 buying the OEM one for the Motorola Photon 4G LTE. Here is a solution.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MACALLY-mGR...941219?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43b3f44de3
It is the mGRIP 2 phone mount. I've been using it in my 2010 Toyota Prius and it works flawless..
Suction is great, rarely any vibrations. Can look at gps without having to focus on it due to road bumps.
Adjustments are great, arm, pivot and grip adjustments.
Allows use for all features EXCEPT microSD card slot when using.
I was looking for a phone mount for my Photon 4G LTE for awhile and if your still wondering what it is a good choice, this is one. It will not block charger port (important for gps, since it eats battery), or HDMI port. Nor the vol + and - buttons. Just put the charger in first then mount the phone so the grip come as close to the micro usb as possible, and thats your adjustment (for the grips atleast, you'll have to adjust the arm and pivot still lol). Been using it for a week and so far so good. Sturdy feel the adjustment arms are great for loading and unloading phone. Just a tip for those looking for those to buy a windshield mount other then the official moto one.. I couldn't decide between windshield or vent mount but couldn't be happier with this option. I bought this from the exact link above.
PS - If you buy, make sure you read the tiny instruction so you won't end up breaking your mount. I haven't broke it, I just feel I would have if I didn't read it lol. (The suction has a lever to it to lock on to windshield which works really well).
I used to use a setup like this on my old phone (XT603 Admiral). If you REALLY want to be trick with it, stick an NFC tag on the mount and setup task to put the phone into car mode automatically.
I personally got a Motorola car dock for $30 shipped on eBay, so just keep looking out on Amazon and eBay for these.
I'm a huge fan of the Exomount. It has the greatest suction cup that I've ever seen: http ://www .exogear.com/products-exomount2-car-mount-holder.html
You can get it for $25 off of Amazon.

MTB holder

Hi guys,
can anybody of you recommend a sturdy holder for our phone
suitable for mountain biking?
Thanks in advance!
In my experience its better to wear your phone. I've tried various phone holders cheap - midrange and ultimately I'd rather have no junk all over my handlebars so i can focus. Vibration means you cant see the bloody thing anyway. And the cheap ones always break.
However
If your looking to navigate on your bike I'd suggest a Garmin etrex 10 20 or 30 combined with a RAM mount.
http://www.rammount.com/NewProducts/garminetrexmounts/tabid/3927/
Superior shockproof waterproof and rugged gps nav off road with maps in a small size. I use for hiking and MTB
Garmin also have their own MTB handlebar mount.
Hope that helped

Hi ninjalandpirate,
I was asking for a reference for SGS3mini MTB holder and you're suggesting me to buy another device?
Btw Your comment on vibrations impact (cannot read display) is a typical underestimating of this scenario.
It's been many times reported that this kind of vibrations can lead to a loosing phone internal contacts and therefore
really serious problems with its functionality later.
OK, I see no other reply. Than I'm going to buy one bike holder and test it for MTB.
I'll pass my experience here later on.
