ExtSD card (writing)Fix - Kitkat
It's known that new kitkat base have permission issue using Ext SD card writing. Though most of custom ROM may have already fixed in ROM but here posting so stock ROM user can use it without using CWM.
- Needs Rooted device
In which condition it is helpful?
-When you are not able to write on ExtSD card
-Fail to copy to ExtSD
-If you keeping backup on titanium and you getting message 'no enough space' while making backup with titanium
or any msg suggestive of fail in writing on ExtSD
PS : If you are not able to read ExtSD card contents, that's different issue and can't solve by this. Search Dr.Ketan Utility for that
How to Use
- Download and Install ExtSD Fix
-Click app icon from app drawer
-Grant SuperSu permission
-When you get msg 'ExtSD fixed applied' reboot device
-Done. You can uninstall app now.
You are the man.
Great work

RAW sd card
Helllo guys.I am facing an issue regarding my sd card which it might be irrelevant with this thread but i need help:crying:
My sd suddenly appears to be useless! While it was working flawlessly suddenly a message appeared saying:"blank card or non recognisable".
I have searched and tried all the solutions suggested in various sites but not luck at all!My pc recognises it as :RAW card".
Any help?I have so many photos stored in this card:crying:
You are lucky at least its ext sd otherwise its difficult to get list files from int sd.
Still chances are there you may get image back though card cant revive. Try some good sw for image recovery i had same and retrive all images but couldnt get card working.

Unfortunately not working.
Rooted z1 c, 4.4.2:
SU granted, ran fix, got confirmation, restarted, no success. Tried twice. Sad.
Wonder why my phone is so stubborn? I do need the SD.

Under settings> applications do you have unknown sources checked? If not, that is most likely your problem.
Yeah have unknown sources checked, but just will hardly ever install anything. Dont get it
Took me about 50 tries to install angry birds ffs!
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
Some apps need to be installed via Root Explorer by placing it to some folder.
So why after so many attempts did it work? ??
Also why do some apps insist on only working from the phone memory and not external sd card, is my 64gb card going to be useless?

Dunno, its weird.

Hmmmm, that´s strange...perhaps the update may fix it.
Update?
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
You should root it, flash a custom rom, remove the unused applications, this will make it a much faster.I'd recommend you flash the Gadgetcheck's RevoHD for Note, its perfect.
Now, when you try to install an application from any other place but market, its normal to not be able to. If you are not rooted you shouldnt be able to as well.
When I try to install an application that I have downloaded from somewhere else I think it requires superuser permissions and I have to go to Settings/Applications/Unknown sources and check it.Doing this might solve your problems.
But cant tell for sure, I'm an owner of S II not note.
Good luck.
I cant root it though
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
check the Unknown source first
Already done.

install a custom rom simples also why do you have to install that way there is a thing called the market i have a seeking suspicion that the apps you want to install a pirated we all do it
Hi there... just some ideas and few questions
First off all... is that a new samsung from a store or you bought it from someone else ?
What to try:
- Shutdown the phone
- remove the SD card
- after that boot normaly into the OS
- then go to settings - applications and find the market / play store app
- Click on it, FORCE CLOSE if you can and clear the CACHE
- After that try to install any app.
Tell me whats happening after that all.
gl
Airplayit isnt on the store.
Ive tried all of that, just wont install.
Its a brand new phone and i cant install a cystom rom, it wont root ive tried.
Using XDA Premium (GT-N7000)
To manually install an app, you'll need root access. Try asking in the q&a forum for your specific device for help with that.
After you've gotten root access (however you do it), copy the .apk to /system/app (you can use a adb, a terminal emulator, or a third party file manager to do this)
Then, change the permissions on the file to so that owner, group, and users all have read and write (but not execute) permissions (that's 644 if you're using chmod)
Here's a link that explains how to manually install an app contained in taskmanager.apk
http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com/2012/03/task-manager-for-cm-rom-on-gt-s5570.html
If you read the explanations (after the he steps you through the process) it's easy to apply this same process to any other .apk no matter where it's stored.
Simmo's SC-02C Any Rom Patcher
with special thanks to wjchen0 for the ntt gps kernel module
Tested and working with ICS and JB 4.1.x
JB 4.2 works, but requires a Siyah based kernel or a kernel designed specificially for the SC-02C, such as KBC.
Please press the Thanks button if it works for you.
Code:
Modem: SC02C-OMLPL
Apps: ClockworkMod SuperUser
Busybox
Tweaks: Set NTP server (jp.pool.ntp.org)
Free tethering (tether_dun_required=0)
NTT GPS & compass fix
Facebook ContactsProvider database patch (is_restricted=0)
Black camera viewfinder fix for the Docomo rom
CyanogenMod APN xml (with spmode)
Samsung JellyBean fonts (incl. Japanese)
SP-Mode Mail with Push & Docomo Account Authenticator
Docomo emoji library
How to get a working JellyBean rom.
Root your phone and install a custom kernel. Reboot into CWM.
Download a custom rom. I recommend WanamLite or NeatRom.
Download my tweaker.
Install the rom first, then my tweaker.
Reboot, then you're done.
Note : You must install the tweaker every time you do a full wipe.
If you are running Jelly Bean then you can install CommuniCase by Docomo, instead of using SP-Mode Mail.
Changes:
2013/06/16
Updated the DcomoAccountAuthenticator to work with Docomo CommuniCase.
Added support for Docomo emojis in keyboard that use it.
Reverted to the OMLPL modem, as I found it works better.
2013/02/04
Updated the system modules and modem from the latest OMMP4 rom.
2013/01/28
The gps module has a bug that cuases the system to hang at the docomo logo.
You must install this new update to stop it happening.
If you already have the "stuck at docomo logo" problem, download the new tweaker and install on top. It deletes the corrupted file.

Works great
Great tweak. Working for me so far and I had a few issues myself. I will say that in order to get the ROM (I'm using Wanamlite 14.0 and the 23 Toggles) and the tweaker working properly I did have to do a full wipe.
I will just recommend that anyone who wants this to work BACKUP - BACKUP - BACKUP.
I also used Titanium Backup (correctly - Thanks Simmo :silly: ) to backup all user apps. Don't worry about the system apps - the ROM takes care of them.
My order of installation -
1 - BACKUP your current ROM - again - BACKUP your current ROM
2 - Use Titanium Backup (use this guide) to back up your user apps so you can get them back afterwards. When using Titanium Backup for the first time on a new ROM, you may get the message about using the phone's original ID, ignore it, let it use the new one.
3 - Follow SimmoF's instructions in the first post
4 - Reboot and enjoy.
Thanks again to SimmoF - buy him a beer.

Then it obviously appears that it is not the ROM or the tweaker causing the problem. Please be sure that you have the right Tweaker B version and boot into recovery and run it through again.
If not, I would say try again but after the ROM installs let it reboot before installing everything else. Run through the google setup stuff, don't do the samsung stuff, skip it.
Then go in and only restore user apps. I always thought I knew Titanium Backup well, but, as Simmo pointed out to me, I was wrong. Go ahead and JUST RESTORE YOUR USER APPS - NO SYSTEM APPS OR DATA. You may also have to go in and set your apn to the spmode.ne.jp .
This is what worked for me. After you have done that and just the ROM and your restoration works, test with a few reboots. Then go and get the tweaker file again. Just to be safe.
I know that, myself, if I let everything settle and check for running operation, then install the 23 toggles, tweaks and sp push files, it works.
If you get stuck at the boot logo AND you have downloaded the Tweaker B version of the file before wiping again - try to boot into recovery and just run the tweaker file as suggested.
DON'T GIVE UP!!!
It's a very smooth ROM. So far...

Run a disk checker.
If on windows. Mount as USB device.
Open a command window on the PX.
Run the command "chkdsk driveletter: /f"
That should fix it. If it says partition type is RAW, then something strange happened and it needs to be formatted.
If your internal /data partition is damaged, you need to do something different. Tell me a If that fixes your problem.

how is your battery consumption\ for wanamlite?
I know this rom is great but the battery really decrease too fast. Even I close the mobile data and wifi. It drops around 5% per hr. compared to cm9, it is far too high
XXLS8 has issues. the XXLSJ leak is much better actually.
I recommend going back to the leak or going to cm10.1
I am playing around with cm10.1 at the moment.
XXLS8 sucks.

I had the same problem. It's not the zip file that is a problem - it's google drive
First, I am assuming that you are doing this from the phone itself.
I used Firefox and this is what you need to do -
1-Click the link to download the file and once you are in the directory where you see the zip click on it.
2-It will open and show you the contents of the zip - don't worry
3-Click the menu key on your phone and one of the choices listed will be show as desktop or something like that - click it
4-Let page reload
5-Now at the top of where the zip file is shown, you will see some menu choices - File Edit, etc.......
6-Click File and I think the bottom choice is download. Click that and it should download the zip file.
It will give it a random name but you should be able to get things figured out from here.
Please thank me below and make sure you get simon (or Me - haha) a beer.
I just installed the newest version of TWRP and seem to be having some issues with creating backups. My last backup was on the internal memory so I wanted to put something on my SD Card before I tried flashing a new ROM. The first thing that I tried was to just copy it over to the SD Card but it says that I can't copy it. So then I tried to just do another backup in TWRP and have it save right to the SD Card. It completes successfully, but it saves it as some weird folder name (it adds cm_d2vzw-userdebug 4.2.2 and some other stuff to the end of the folder name). I can only see it in ES Explorer on my phone for some reason, if I hook it up to the computer it won't even show the TWRP folder that gets created.
What is wrong? Is it an issue with the latest TWRP?
EDIT: I just tried backing up to internal storage too and it is still doing that funny thing with the folder name. I am thinking it is a recovery issue. Does anyone have the latest version working right?
Im on the latest version 2.6.0.31 some weird number like that. U might have a bad install of twrp try reinstalling it. Why wouldn't root still be working? Doesn't goomanager have to check root first before installing a recovery? Plus, ES Explorer still had root access and titanium backup still works.

I tried flashing the .img file and tried the zip and I am still having the same issue. Is it possible permissions got screwed up somewhere? I just installed the 2.6.3.0 (instead of the 2.6.3.1) and am trying a backup to see if that works.
I might just go back to by backup from a day or two ago when everything was working before I tried going to the latest version of TWRP.
EDIT: Well 2.6.3.0 didn't work either. It is weird that I can't see the folder that it creates on my laptop. I can only see it on my phone with ES Explorer and it is still naming the folder really weird things.
EDIT2: I reinstalled 2.6.0.1 and now it names the folder right (just using the date/time), but I still can't see it when I plug in to my computer. I am afraid to try and restore to it to see if it works. I don't understand why I can't see it when I plug in to my laptop.

I haven't really followed this thread's progression so forgive me, but you can just tap the bar where it reads "Backup Name: (Auto Generate)" to manually change your TWRP backup names. It's not immediately obvious but its there.

Yea, I understand that, but I don't understand why it is adding stuff like userdebug and a bunch of other stuff automatically when the older version didn't. Then on top of that, while it appears like it worked and I could see the files using ES Explorer, when I hooked it up to my laptop, it wasn't even seeing the TWRP top level folder on the SD Card.

I guess this is a difference of opinion then cuz I don't see it as an issue.
Then on top of that, while it appears like it worked and I could see the files using ES Explorer, when I hooked it up to my laptop, it wasn't even seeing the TWRP top level folder on the SD Card.

Can you view the rest of your internal storage on your laptop? I mean the exact same directory as to where your TWRP storage is located? You are running a KitKat rom which changes the internal storage directories from /sdcard to /0/sdcard (JB 4.3 does as well) so I'd guess that might have something to do with it. I always use Airdroid to transfer files to/from my laptop and I see my newly constructed internal storage fine. I have a MBP so I don't really have a native way to connect my S3 to my laptop to test it out which is why I use AirDroid.
Titanium Backup: "Batch backup interrupted: insufficient free storage space"
I was using TB without issues until SuperSu (Pro) updated to version 2.00. Now TB gives me constantly the "insufficient free storage" error. I have disabled Dropbox (and other) online backup, I have uninstalled/installed the app several times (including the Pro license).
My ROM is SlimRom 4.4.3 v5.9 (latest weekly). Other root apps are working ok. I want to save to external sdcard: /extSdCard/TitaniumBackup
SuperSu (Pro) latest version 2.00.
Of course I have free space (more than 2Gb).
Seems a 4.4.3 flood of issues is coming...
I've tested several symlinks to use sdcard, no one is working:
/storage/sdcard1/TitaniumBackup
/mnt/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup
/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup
/external_sd/TitaniumBackup
If anyone has an idea how to use TB with 4.4.3 and external sdcard I would thank so much if he/she posts how could solve the issue.
I also have the same problem using Android 4.4.2. All the proposed fixes (platform.xml edit; change directory to emulated/legacy; SDFix app; etc.) DO NOT WORK.
Please help us!
Into Titanium advanced settings, configure it to use your ROM's Busybox and not the one shipped with Titanium.
Restart the app and check if it helps.
Do you have an ext4. on your sdcard?

It went away the same way it comes. Right now, I think the change of the Busybox to system (and not to the TB Busybox) did the job.
What do you think it solved your problem?

What solved mine was after updating to 4.4.2 (I have a Note II), it changed the way external was written to. I noticed the tibu folder was not writable and I wasn't even allowed to change permissions via root explorer. After some digging, I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44370296 which explains to modify platform.xml.
After editing the file and rebooting, no more issues with "insufficient free storage space".

Thanks, but that was my ROM default platform.xml file, so it's not the same. My problem could be somewhere else as the .xml file was always in the correct form on how is suggested in that thread. Thanks anyway.
I currently have the same issue, which just happened recently, with v 4.4.2 on my TMO Galaxy S5. Currently Stock rooted with Philz Recovery.
Did you solve your issue?
Did you try the flashing of SuperSU and Superuser?
It could be androids new security feature that doesn't allow apps to write to SD cards. One of the main reason google removed the code for SD card support from stock android.
Soved the problem by installing Alliance ROM because it has the following feature: • Enabled External Sd-Card Read/Write Functionality
I started getting this message about a month ago after using TiBu for years. I use SlimRom on a Note 2. It does work to backup and restore to the internal card.
I don't have a problem accessing the external sdcard (sdcard1) from any other app. Rom Toolbox Pro and Helium do not have a problem creating or restoring backups to it. Titanium Backup will usually backup a few apps, as many as 5 or more to as little as none, before it bombs out and displays the insufficient storage message. It is not a problem with storage since I have over 20gb free. My permissions.xml file already has the sdcard permissions set correctly. I have tried updating superuser and forcing system busybox to no avail.
Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Works for my Xiaomi Redmi Note. Thanks so much.
Got the solution
I did everything but the solution was provided by TB itself when it gave an error message at startup. Just uncheck the mount namespace separation option in supersu. Done.

I tried this one htere, with the namespace separation, no dice, should I start editing XML files?
Frustrating.

Hello any help getting me closer to someplace I can find help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a used GS3 on Boost Mobile. the phone is running stock rom, in recovery mode it says it is
KOT49H.L710VPUDND8
Model SPH-L710
Baseband-L710VPUCNJ3
Build-KOT49H.L710VPUCNJ3
Android-4.4.2
No custom recovery installed!
No attempt at flashing any roms yet!
just rooted to do housecleaning .
I rooted using Chainfires CF-auto-root method, everything went correctly. I then updated Supersu to the latest Pro version. I did not uninstall any apps yet but did install a bunch. I installed Titanium Backup pro and did manage to backup everything before this issue started.
I noticed I had an issue with the extSdCard not being able to be used by TB and looked for a solution. I did add a line to /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml but it did not work so I returned it to normal. I then noticed I could no longer make backups TB was giving "insufficient storage" and failed. if i tried to change the backup location in TB I noticed the default now had a red folder with " cannot write to this location"
I know I may have changed something in the platform.xml by mistake or at least that should be the first place to look but I swear I made no mistakes while editing the file.
I have tried to create and delete folder and files on my internal sdcard using root enabled Es File Explorer but it fails everytime. on a side not I can create and delete from the extSdCard.
I feel this will only get worse if not fixed please point me to the correct place for help! Thanks
Oh and I did post this question in the Sprint/gs3/q&a help forum.
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The Sprint Q&Q forum is the proper place to post this as you've already done. So I'm going to close this thread.
