Hello guys, how are you all?
After a long time using CM, I finally needed to use the video recording feature. But I got surprised when I recorded a video. The quality looks pretty bad with 720p, but looks good with 480p. I recorded two test videos, on 720p and 480p.
Here's a video on 720p:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvS2xPl2MHU
And here's another, on 480p:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSY4jNG6xkk
I recorded them at the same time, no changes in the background. I don't have any test video from the old Sammy ROM, maybe that's CM-only problem?

I will be checking Google Camera later. I wanted to try Focal, but my device isn't compatible and I don't have the .apk file to install.
To be honest, I will be trying other ROMs later, too (CM 10.2/Sungsonic V-7).

trying other roms is really better for now because for tab 2 maybe there are many builds of cm 11 but even now it is in initial stage of its development

So, I tried recording using Sungsonic, CM 10.1 and even stock 4.2.2. All of them give me the very same results. I guess the video recording only works good outside... or when you got a good illumination.

I have a copy of the Evo camera files. Does anyone know how I'd go about porting it to the Desire like the N1 folks did with the Desire camera? Is it just a case of changing drivers?

I'm pretty certain Evo has a different Camera. 8MP if I remember correctly, pretty certain you won't be able to port it across.

First of all for this to work you have to assume the camera in the desire supports 720p recording. Then, if the cameras are anything alike, you could probably port the kernel bits, then the interface bits, then the camera itself. Looking at the apk alone isn't enough.
Had a go at this my self last night, the apk alone isnt enough and there is no kernal source yet for the Evo.
HTC have confirmed that the desire supports 720p capture, this was expected to be pushed in an update from HTC a few weeks after launch but same old same old.
would be a fantasic achievement, once the Evo kernal is up and all files available I will begin to research and attempt to port if possible.

Eh, no they didn't. They said DivX alright but the 720P thing was just very lightly hinted at. In any case we're recording at 480 now and we get 15FPS, if we up that to 720P you should expect nothing more than a 5FPS slideshow

I defninatly get more than 15fps on 480p, over 20. But i did read that 720p was supported by the Snapdragon and also by the Desire's camera sensor
eh hem....
This was confirmed and laid out on the "pre launch" spec sheet I recieved at work.
720p capture is 100% possible and will come in a future update along with Divx playback.
the drivers/software were not finalised in time for launch.

And doesn't this more or less mean that unless we are content with waiting until 2074 for an official update, we have to get things done by ourselves?

My thoughts exactly.... In the words of LoxDev... HTC Sense only makes sense if you like waiting for updates.
The hardware support is there, we just need to get our heads down and try and port the correct drivers etc.

It really doesn't matter if it was on an official statement from HTC because the Desire and N1 have the same CCD sensor, N1 now has 720p recording capabilities thanks to FroYo.
does someone can find camera drivers in kernel source code?
Flash Player just updated.
Another step closer to Froyo.
And the build unit for this player "happens to be"...
10.1.72.7
I'm willing to speculate that 72.7 is a reference build towards FRF72-77.
=)

No idea for you. But I just updated mine to 72.7 a little while ago.
Any noticeable changes?
UPDATE: Just got the update too. Trying it out now.
Yup, I'm downloading it now too.
Okay, the first thing I did was to check if the new flash can play some flash games (restaurant city) and it can!!!
The controls are not that good since the n1 has its issues with multitouch. i wonder if it will work with hulu...let me check...
Confirmed that hulu is still not working.

Just went on kongregate. Seems to be much smoother than the initial release for sure. And also faster, might be placebo though on the faster. But definitely smoother.
Anyone tried hulu?
PS EDIT: Oops. Guess hulu still not working. Bet they don't like us. Lol.
I didn't like the jerky scrolling and pinch to zoom i got from the previous releases. This one is making these things a lot better. Definitely getting closer to a final release. The video playback is better but i sill can't hit the buttons for full screen and volume, even when i'm zoomed in a lot.
A step in the right direction, but these steps seem to be too small. We still don't know if the new beta uses hardware acceleration or not.
UPDATE: I also noticed that the flash element only loads when you are watching that part of the website which is a good thing because it helps the general navigation. Maybe this is why i feel like i can scroll better.
UPDATE 2: Switching from portrait to landscape while watching a flash video is seamless now. This is what i'm talking about! +1 for Adobe!
anyone got a direct link for us droid 2.2 users?

As of now, I don't think it's possible, though the Devs are trying to fix 1080p recording as well as HDMI.
I've realized that with CM rom, my phone doesn't have the ability to autofocus or even touch to focus while recording video. So is this a bug of CM or my phone had failed?

I went ahead and did some investigating.(; Have you had this feature before? From what I can tell this has never been a feature.. I know SOME certain camera's supported this. Not sure CM's team ever did with the included camera. I just tried it on to different CM.11 based ROMS for our device and it did not have that feature. So either they will port it in or just leave it out! Hope I helped a little.

Hi All,
This is my first post but i think some one will find it useful. Ukrainian developer going by the username B-S-G has modded the google pixel hdr camera app to work on snapdragon x820-x835 processors.
i have tested this on the leeco tv max x820 and it works perfect.#
but first i had to remove the stock camera via root uninstall system apps (see playstore).
i have attached a link to the camera app below.
