So that's what that bright light was last night that woke me up. My gear1 never did that lol.

i haven't noticed mine doing that. i put it to charge at night, the display turns on, then off and in the morning the display is still off....

It only comes on for a few seconds when it hits 100% charge and then turns off again.

oh, ok... so the screen turns on for a couple seconds then turns off....
whats the problem then?
maybe just put your watch face down on a little towel

What's the deal with my battery?

So often, before I go to bed, I would charge up the phone completely and turn it off. 8 hours later, I turn it on, and the battery is at 70~80 ish.
Yesterday however, I just put the phone on airplane mode without turning it off, thinking it might make a difference. I woke up and the battery was 99%.
WTF?

Because when you turn on airplane mode, you turn off radio, wifi, etc about signal and data. It is about 50-70% power consumption. Consequently, when data is cut off, apps that needs to update via data, either wifi or mobile, won't update. That is another less stress on the battery. So on and so forth.

Well that's weird cause I put my phone on sleep last night without airplane mode and with 3g on, and it went from 90% to 87% by 7am. Maybe it has to do with low signal? I know when I have low signal my battery drops SUPER fast.

yes it is a factor. Same issue i have, low signal at home.

You totally failed to understand my problem. I'm saying airplane mode with phone ON consumes LESS battery than turning the phone completely OFF

I completely misunderstood your problem. Hmmm, in THAT case only thing I can think of is the phone not being shutdown properly. Aka the phone got stuck in a low level state with the screen off/unresponsive but maybe the phone was still processing network information. Then when you turned it on, you shut it off and turned it back on without really noticing.
That, or the FBI has been tracking you in the night.
We still didn't answer his question! Its weird that the battery is getting drained with the phone completely off.

How about telling us also what rom/kernel you are using?
Sent from my Calculator with Android.
I had an issue with my phone charging, it would take about 18 hours to charge the battery completely. Turned out the cord had gotten screwed up somehow. Also if you're using a USB extention cable, if you use more than one it will do something similar.
Charge your phone, turn it off, remove the battery and check if it still looses power.. so we will know if it s a battery problem or phone drainage problem
1. rom/kernel: cm 7.1.0.1, default cm7 kernel
2. update: second night with this Rom, and when i turned it off and on again 8 hrs later, it was 91%. Not bad.
3. I have charged full> powered down> removed battery> 8hrs later> insert battery & power ON, battery is full.
4. Computer USB charging takes probably over twice as long compared to using the outlet adapter.
I understand that phone goes into a low power state when it is turned "OFF", but really, what gives?

I have a feeling that the phone is not shutting off all the way. How about trying to shut down your phone, pull the battery, reinsert it, but DON'T turn your phone on and don't touch the power button at all, just reinsert it. Wait 8 hours, check it then.

Good battery performance in standby, not connected mode.

Just a short report on battery life. Had to leave my SW2 at home for a week. It was powered up but not connected to the phone and just laying around.
After a week it still has 50% battery left. Pretty good I think.

I noticed that when connected but left lying around the watch enters a sort of sleep mode where the watch face on the screen is turned off. Usually when not wearing I turn my SW2 off but I wonder how much effect this sleep mode has on the battery & if the watch still continues to receive notifications?

Yes it receive notification unless you close your BT connection in watch to reduce power. In this state (BT off) I used 2% in 8 hours last night.

How long does your battery last in a day?

My watch is fully charged at the beginning of the day, 5:00 am, and 12 hours later it is down to 39%. I checked my notifications and did use the internal music player when working out for 30 minutes today. So was just wondering what everyone is experiencing with battery life.
Think I can get 24 hours with the screen always on and wake up gesture set on. 2 days with wake up gesture on and always on screen set off.
70%@24 hours with wake-up gesture, moderate heart rate monitoring, NFC and Wifi turned off, and lots of notifications.
Wonder why my battery is draining so fast...
I'm at 70% after an 8 hour work day. Wake up gesture on, wifi, bluetooth on.
After a day I get home with 33%. By bed time I am closer to 28-29%. No way could I get 2 days. This is with brightness low, although ambient still working. Gesture on, wifi & bluetooth on. This is the biggest disappointment about the phone.
Can I get through a day? yes. Can I get the claimed battery life? no. I do not get many notifications (maybe 15 emails and 10 texts a day on it).
Currently at 65%. Last plugged in was yesterday morning at 6am. WiFi off since its always near my phone. Wake up gesture on. Brightness at 6. I get a good amount of notifications too. This can easily last me 2 work days.

Mine was at 62% last night so two days won't be a problem. Since it's new I'm still playing around with it and using more battery than is necessary. Put my wife's photo on the watch face just to see if I could. I did shut off WiFi since my phone is always nearby and NFC since that doesn't really work yet and I'm not sure I would use it anyway. I also turned off the turn on with notifications. Accidentally put it in a waterfall pond this morning doing some maintenance and am glad I don't have to worry about that aspect of it.

With brightness at 7, all connections on (WiFi, BT, NFC), screen always on, and receiving notifications, I finished yesterday with about 20%. The watch was taken off the charger at 6:45am and put down around midnight.
Today, I made one change and turned off WiFi. Watch off from the cradle at 6:45am and right now at 10:36pm, I have 31% left.
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
Last night I was at 33% again (10:00 pm). I turned off the functions wifi/bluetooth/nfc and this morning I was at 20%. I am running it down today to see if that will help condition the battery (100-0 then full charge) and if it adjusts how the percent remaining is displayed.
I seem to remember that batteries should be usually kept between 20% and 80% with an occasional full cycle to help keep them conditioned. I'm no expert though so this may or may not be true.
29 hrs and it shut down. Light use of the device.
-30 email/text notifications.
-15 hrm tests.
-screen brightness of 5.
-22hrs with wifi/bluetooth/nfc on,
-8hrs with it off (during sleep).
61% left last night. 60% left seems to be my average. NFC off, WiFi off, watch on with notifications off, heart rate frequent. Basic watch-face with white background and date. Notifications from ESPN and texts.
Ending 18 hour days with about 35% in the six days I've had it. Brightness @3. BT and wifi on. Nfc off. Always on screen on. Tilt to wake, and heart rate off.
Decided to try the always on feature today and ended the day at 31% instead of my usual 60% so this feature uses a lot of battery. Going back to not always on.
With the s2 classic, im at 38% with light usage, a few notifications, wifi off, nfc off, wake up gesture on and 50hrs and 22 mins off the charger.
Edit: brightness on 7.

Varies a bit from what I can see. I took it off charging dock at 6:30am. At 3:10pm, I have 82% left. Always On screen disabled, brightness at 6, WiFi, BT, NFC on. First day, it was worse.
That is extremely weird. Just bought mine. Charged it fully through night.
- Picked it up at 06:15 @ 100%
- Wifi on, NFC, on, HRM Frequent.
- Brightness 7
- Screen always on
- Wake up on notification
- Wake up gesture on
Battery at 14:00 = 5%....
is this normal ??

How bad does Always On affect battery life?

I am used to a notification light, this is legit my only issue with the phone as of now so I need to use Always on to at least see the notification visual...How bad of a hit is this generally on battery life?
~1% drain every hour it's on.

Without controlled tests can't say for sure, but I've had my 3 since last week. Today for the first time I had AOD on all day, and I've got more battery left now at 7pm (74%) than I did yesterday at this time without AOD. Usage varies some day to day so that's not conclusive, but my observation so far is it's not a battery hog. Its easy enough to try and compare for yourself. I also have adaptive battery turned on which can take a while to optimize, so that could have influenced my results. For now I'm leaving AOD on.

That's about right. If I charge my phone to 100% before bedtime it's at about 91% in the morning. If I turn off AOD, it's about 98% in the morning which is about the same as other phones I have. I wish you could program it to turn off from say 10pm to 6am like my LG V30.

Hmm I am not a pro at Tasker but I wonder whether this can be achieved using that without root?

AOD turns off when the proximity sensor is covered. Its off in the pockets. Its off when you put it in a sleeve or just turn it over screen down.
If you feel comfortable with keeping the phone screen down on your night stand, AOD will turn off automatically.
You can certainly do it with Tasker (I do). Should work without root as it's just a secure setting (Tasker supports changing secure settings now, or you can use the auto tools plugin)
