[REVIEW] [ROM] 4.2.1 stock rom version 2 smoothest rom ever - Micromax A110

Am stunned to see there's no feedbacks/reviews coming for this excellent rom
This is not exaggeration but seriously best 4.2 rom till date
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2717302
Pros
Awesome RAM management•• very very minimal/manageable lags and no hangs
Messenger whatsapp gmail email hangout running at background but still phone is very responsive
Cool transitions
Decent battery backup
Games like gtaSA FIFA14 are working fine
Gravity Box Working Like charm
Cons
Camera always take pics with size of 1mb or around
Too much of system apps which are not required
OTG not working
While speaking over phone call gets disconnected and goes to airplane mode almost everytime
PS: reviewing after 10 days of usage bcZ all 4.2roms works cool initially then they'll slow down but that's not happening with this rom
Take my word, a MUST TRY ROM and you won't regret later

[Q] Why update to GB?? when froyo was so stable?

6 months of using a rock solid stable rom xxkb3 (stock), I had only 1 issue that I needed Gb update that is few new apps only work on GB such as equalizer a great app for music but that too is buggy on GB, it produces tik tak tuk (static sound) on an ideal phone.
I finally updated to xxkpm based custom rom with all those fancy stuff now I observe that the phone is lagging in camera/ phonebook, messeging etc, battery backup is almost same as froyo many version of GB are having problem with following.
high battery drain
WIFI connection drops
In sleep mode, data connection stops working
push mail notification does not work
gtalk/skype video chat does not work
car bluetooth connection drop (phonebook download issue)
I wonder what was this whole GB noise all about, to me version number are just numbers & they don't necessarily mean better stable rom than Froyo.
So I am wondering whats the gain in updating to GB accept that you get a new FW which is still buggy in many areas.
Namaless specifically mentioned that GB is buggy & ditched the development on gb & based his custom rom on xxkb3.
Those who are with GB & prefer GB various version can you tell me what is better in GB that is making you use GB for your daily use? please list features which you think was not available in froyo on i9003
You can see the different here..
http://www.differencebetween.com/difference-between-android-2-2-froyo-and-android-2-3-gingerbread/
Ya...you are right. But it depends on ur preferanace. I dont need wifi, gmail sync (i do it manually), vdo chat. I just use themes, 2g net, lots of fun apps, latest mods like 10 lockscreens, 14 toggles, kernal related mods. This is our normal user view.
But if u ask any developer especially kernal developers then they will definitely 1st go for gb because source codes are more simpler & gives developer more modification in kernal & whole rom. The problems which u have mentione can be solved in cm7. Regarding vdo calling I have hopes from doomlord. He has kernal & device driver's knowledge.
1. I had problem with WiFi (not as others have), but it was solved with help of copying WiFi settings from Froyo. Now it works well for me
2. Battery drain is the same for me now (Before I was using OsmanFansRom v1.2.1, now CianogenMod7). Look at the image (I used it very small today). As you can see it uses battery with the same speed as on Froyo. Draining depends of usage). When I listen music all time through bluetooth it can work only 12 hours. but it's good for mp3 players, isn't it?
3. Never use this (I don't need email at my phone, I always near PCs), And never checked it
4. I use skype very seldom (and only for chatting). BTW in Froyo Video doesn't work too
5. I'm using stereo bleotooth all day long (listening music, speaking and so on). I never had problem with it. I don't know may be car's bluetooth is different, but I don't think so.
Pluses I received from CM7: It's very customizable, It's very easy to apply themes, it's very good looking for me, and I like to use it even now (when it's beta). I like effects OldTV, showing messages in the top bar, unlock effects, and so on.

My reason (apart from the stability), is videocalls. I needs videocalls every day, and this I can only get in Froyo. I only can do videocalls using Tango, and only in Froyo. The other aps (Fring, Oovoo and Skype) in Froyo, and all the apps (includind Tango) in ginger doesn't work. The issue is the same, flickering with the front camera, FC doesn't work well.
I would use ginger because it is more customizable and has things like CRT effect, but I need videocalls, and that only I can do it in froyo and with tango ....
froyo's ancient man!
would u buy a samsung galaxy s 3 years from now,or buy a much better phone for the same price even though u now gs1 is rock stable and solid?
I don't understand you, sorry for my english, but I bought this phone, and I want i9003 give me everything i9003 can do (including videocalls)
GB is better!!!!
Ya man u r right froyo was stable....gingerbread is also stable for normal use....
I felt the following changes-
Speed(u have to agree its fast and smooth)..
More customizable...new and better rom's from developers
Its neat...less lag...better quadrant....more games support..etc

Probably YES since phone to me is a tool to be used for my daily work, life, enjoyment, education etc, The last phone I used was 6 years old moto works like a charm even now, I am not those kinds who are after the latest & greatest & most fashionable phones no matter what the specs may be.
Prime importance for me is, can the phone make me more productive in day to day work/ life, if yes then I will go for it.

Yes due to many new mods its less laggy, but I experienced the same lag in one of the custom rom I tried, now I have changed to another one & will see if it really is a power horse or lags exactly the same way.
So you are saying, "many GB update released and they all crap". That's against the logic why we need updates? Why softwares need updates? Why updates are needed?
First of all stability isn't everthing for hardwares but for sure it's a very important thing. Updates can provide many abilities to hardwares which previous versions can't do. Updates are for to improve performance, efficiency, stability, ergonomics, friendliness. However this doesn't happen as expected and create new problems. And it continues to the time a better solution is arrived.
As for me. I'm using XXKPN.
I can't even use GPS in froyo - Works perfectly now.
I charged my phone everyday - Charging in 2-3 day period.
Lags, self reboots - No lag, no reboot.
Touch sensivity is not bad - After using KPN I say it's perfect.
It takes hours to load phonebook - Loads very very faster now.

No I don't mean that GB is crap, but its still far from being bug free for daily (heavy) usage of various features. Wifi connection dropping is the latest thing which is bugging users. I have faced a bluetooth bug with 2 custom roms they don't work well with car bluetooth & hang at phonebook download but never finishes it thus the music streaming interrupts after 15 sec.
Since I have only used xxkpm whereas xxkpn was released after that may be it sorts out many bugs which I am facing.
The biggest reason for my upgrade is HD playback. This single reason is enough for me.
I think overall Gb is good, I also never have WiFi problem.

Hd video shot with the camera always played smooth in froyo. Hd encoded with certain codec had problems for which I used mobo player.

I updated XXKPN from XXKPE. I heard that many user faced with wifi and 3g issues but I didn't. I don't really know why but small differences on variables can cause various effects on usage. Anyway, it's sensible to use latest software.

But it will not play smooth or through hardware decoding. Now I just download 720 movie and enjoy directly without thinking for converting.

Why did i update?
- Froyo crashes every 2-3 days for me. Gingerbread works perfectly.
- Better battery in Gingerbread
- Feels 'smoother' than Froyo
- .flv files actually play
i have the same problem with GB
can someone tell me how copying WiFi settings from the Froyo?

Hi.
Are you sure you have the same problem as I had? No one before had this problem on this forum.
in the attach my fix to copy settings files. You have to apply this file in the CWM (before applying be sure you have mounted /system partition).
Edit: here is description of my problem. BTW I don't have this problem with ICS ROMs (CM9 or MIUI4)

My Experience with CM10

My experience with CM10.0 on the Rogers HTC One X has not been very good! My first impression of the ROM was like WOW this is as buttery-smooth as advertised! I loved everything about it. But after 2 days of use I noticed the following:
1. My battery drains way faster than before
2. Google Navigation works for a minute than my 4G drops completely and naturally, navigation stops working as well.
3. My contact names stopped showing up on SMS. All my contacts were just represented by their phone numbers.
With all these horrible bugs, I had to go back to CleanROM. Which is really sad cuz I love Jellybean
What's your experience been like?

I have been using CM10 exclusively for about 3 months now so it's stable and has great battery life (easily 20 hours of normal usage for me). There are bugs but I have learned to either fix them on my own or live with them. It's way better than using Sense in my opinion. CM10.1 is my current ROM and I'm loving how responsive it is, so great things are coming!
Development for both CM10 and CM10.1 were halted basically all through December, and now that the devs are working with Android 4.2 I doubt there will be any groundbreaking improvements to CM10. h8rift is working hard on getting CM10.1 to a daily-driver state, though, so hopefully it won't be too long!

I think cm10 is good rom. You might need to switch off the gps and sync while not using it. Hope this help.
As long as I stick to wifi (or alternatively use 2g if I'm doing something low data rate like IM), cm10 works well for me.

Ive use the stock one with sense and it worked great, but since i like to mod my phone i installed CM10 and its working good to, not perfect but good, the phone its really great and im happy using stock or cm10, this is a great phone :highfive:
My experience with cm10 is not good. Battery drains to fast ...
I'm able to get about 12-14 hours on CM10 pretty easily. For the guys who have sucky battery life, here is something to try. Once you install everything and give the ROM a couple of hours to settle, go into recover and do a backup, then wipe everything and then do a restore from the backup you just made. It's pretty much the equivalent of defragging your computer hard drive.
Every few weeks when my phone gets laggy or I feel like battery is draining I do this, and it picks right back up. This was recommended by Turge (HTC ONE X Venom Developer) and it works really well for me.

You haven't used an AOSP ROM that uses the 4.2 camera have you? It's not quite as good as the Sense camera but it's dang close. You can flash the 4.2 camera on Cm10. The thread is in the themes and apps section.
I've never actually used CM10 bit I've used tons of AOSP ROMs that are pretty much all based on CM10 and have none of the issues from the OP. I get great battery life, my gps works perfectly, and all my contacts show up perfectly as well. Maybe give another ROM a try. I use JellyBam with Rohan's kernel and it's just about perfect.

I've found battery life to be reasonable, especially on wifi. Make sure to turn location settings such as background reporting off. These drain battery life tremendously. Also I have found the sense camera to be far better.
I have had similar problems:
- since the sept 13th nightly mms photo previews is broken.
- camera in panorama mode crashes the whole os sometimes
- battery life could be better
- I've noticed bugs when trying to search contacts in the phone app via dial pad (hanging until I restart the phone app )
That's all I can recall. Overall cm is very nice though and I love the speed and having google now. These are bugs I've noticed in the stable version.
Battery drain is awful on all non-Sense based ROMs. You need to disable almost every useful service on the phone to get a long full day out of it. THis is one of the reasons I went back to running Viper (de-Sensed) with Nova. Battery is MUCH better :good:
I have had most of the issue mentioned above as well as rebooting multiple times a day

I fully agree, it seems to me like Sense ROM's are the only way to go if battery life is a concern. After using the official CM10 rom and variants like JellyBam and comparing them to ViperXL, there's just no contest. Non-Sense roms just aren't optimized well. Things like wakelock issues really put a dent in expected battery life.
That said, the AOSP theme just looks better. I can't get over how ugly the pattern unlock is for sense compared to AOSP!
AOSP is just cleaner, more refined, and more current. I hope battery improvements can be made, but I really doubt it'll be anytime soon.
I have been using CM10 since November, and I never have any GPS problem. Battery isn't bad, as long as it lasts full day I am fine with it.

Just suggestions for MOHITASH (no offence)

Hi Mohitash,
First of all I thank you very much for developing PMP ROMS for samsung galaxy s duos. I almost used all of your ROMS. All the roms are very nice and made my phone (S Duos) an good and nice one. Thanks for that...
Now currently i'm using Your PMP ULTRA U-Ex ROM.... at first i had lot of problems in using this rom, it hanged a lot, but somehow i managed and made some slight changes in my own, now the rom is good and it's working pretty fast and smooth without any problems. Most importantly the battery performance is GREAT.. I had done the following things, i don't know whether it's good or not, but i request you to consider and if it's good means you can implement it in the upcoming updates....
Changes I had done:
1. After installing the ROM, i uninstalled the GO Launcher EX (as you said to use another Launcher)
2. I installed NOVA Launcher Prime (u suggested EZ Launcher) and made it as a system APP using Link2Sd.
3. Then i unistalled the GO Contacts and GO Phone applications.
4. I set the maximum and minimum frequency range using No-frills CPU control and greenified most of my applications.
Click to collapse
Now the rom is working very smooth and fast, and battery life stands for one and half days or sometimes two days. No hanging and screen goes dark problem during incoming calls.
You said in the next update of PMP U-EX changes will be made, new launcher will be provided. But i had seen the new update (PMP U-EX RC v1.5)... no changes were made, you only updated the applications. That's why i'm saying this suggestions.
I'm not a developer and a talented person like you.. I'm just posting my experience, if it's good means, you consider otherwise you just ignore this. No offence dude..
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK:good::good::good::good:, EAGERLY WAITING FOR MANY NEW THINGS
Why not post these in the ROM's thread mate? I don't think that dev will see this post here.
Ohhh....finally seen this today....as luckily i searched "dev mohitash" randomly... and found this link in them.....
Well PMP U-Ex ROM v2 already released 2-3 days back
And v1.5 RC was a try version (RC)

Is anyone else using this ROM?
i flashed this rom on my A6000 Plus and have been using it daily since a week now.
Its pretty stable, no FCs whatsoever, approx 800-900 MB RAM is free during regular use. Touch response and apps are running fast.
One thing is that my device is recognized as ANDROMAX G36C1H, which is a Smartfen series phone from Haier, instead of A6000.
Camera quality was OKish but i installed ported Stock Lenovo Camera App and quality is great now(panorama mode also working).
FM working fine, no issues with Headphones. There was an issue with USB connectivity with PC but the fix provided in the link takes care of that. Language support is limited to English and Indonesian (but ive not faced any issues with Fonts or languages)
Battery drain is normal and im getting good backup (comparable to stock)
All in all I have found this to be a stable ROM and fit for daily Use. I have not come across any major bugs so far.

What are the fastest and least memory-hogging custom roms?

I've spent a long time using various versions of Cyanogenmod, but I always end up going back to stock sony, because it's just so much faster.
On Cyanogen, I'd sometimes have to wait a good 10-20 second after my phone starts ringing before it starts responding enough for me to answer.
I love all the nice UI stuff that lolipop brings to the table, and being able to install newer apps that no longer support Jellybean is also great, but it seems like this old phone is just not strong enough for it. Anybody have any advice?
I too would like to know which is the fastest and litest mod out there?! I don't care if they have to get rid of some visuals and animations or some features to speed things up or to lighten things.
All I care about is that it should be fast, lite and battery friendly. If I want some more features or visuals, I would get it from play store!

I tried cm11 recently and it surprised me. Smooth( best experience I ever had) , nice UI, 1.42 gb of internel storage(cm12.1 has 1.2 gb). But it has an ANNOYING bug that made me say hello to cm12.1 : if you turn the screen off and turn it back on right after that, it takes like 10 seconds to turn on. I wish there was a kitkat aosp project for XL that is still being developed or had some stable builds. The latest build of cm11 on CM download page cannot detect sim card and has some wifi problems
Try it :

No problem . faster and smoothness. OTA updata. Battery pin.
