Do you have unlocked bootloader?
then issue is known,
read instruction on sony's bootloader unlock website:
"For customers that have unlocked the boot loader, please do not accept any over the air upgrades."

Best way is to flash latest version's ftf.

No i dont have a unlocked bootloader !!

i have Xt1033 with 4.4.4 stock rom bootloader unlocked + rooted.....
i want to update to lollipop...!!
so what if i unroot and lock the bootloader??? will i receive the update?????
if yes please guide me to lock bootloader and also unroot...!

I think that the best solution is to flash stock images, see Development forum to keep the istructions
does that mean it will lock the bootloader and also let me do the official lollipop update????
if yes then please give the links....
You don't need to lock the bootloader, just flash the stock image and you will get the OTA (when it is available).
can you please please please send me the links to flash stock images..
if i just unroot the device using the unroot option in super su...........................will i receive the lollipop update OTA.(keeping the bootloader unlocked)
no matter ur bootloader is locked or unlocked YOU WILL receive OTAs from motorola do not worry about that
since you have an indian xt1033 ( same as mine ) and if you are curious to get OFFICIAL LOLLIPOP update
you can try the following guide all you need is a UNLOCKED bootloader to do this

PS: I am currently running on this OTA there is NO bugs , lags or any sort of probs ( both sims are working fine )

use this guide to flash the stock firmware and lock the bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700502 and u will definitely get ota update from motorola hit thanks if i helped

i have flashed previous ftf unlocked bootloader.... didn't wanna do that but had to ...thanks to weird developers of sony , now next thing im gonna do is to flash a recovery, im rooted now...and install an aosp rom.....

What do you mean by an unlocked bootloader ftf... There is no such thing. And flashing a ftf had no effect on the bootloader at all

Just download the respective firmware and flash it via Flashtool.
You won't lose the drm keys.

No you can't root 5.0.2 with that method.
If you want to retain root, the only way is to flash pre-rooted zip via NUT's dual recovery.

Yes, this is true, after unlocking bootloader Sony Update Center complains about "modified software". You need the ftf (search on xda for xperia l ftf 15.3.a.1.17)

No You don't.
Just download the ftf and then flash using flashtool.
