Hello,
Since a few weeks a colleague mentions me I'm calling him a lot during the weekend. I thought it came by the flipcover and not closing the dialer app properly. He's on the favorite screen, so maybe by closing the flip cover the cover touched the image and the phone started dialing.
But....this morning my mother in law called me at 6.30am why I called her? I was a sleep so didn't call her, I checked the call log and indeed, a call went out to her a few minutes before. As the phone is next to me, I'm sure nobody touched the phone.
Anyone had this experience or knows what I can check?
Regards,
Michel
That's pretty weird. You're using a flip cover right? Do you usually keep your phone app open when you turn your screen off?

I'm calling a lot, I try to pay attention the phone app is closed.
This morning I'm sure the Moto g started dialing out of itself because everyone was still a sleep and it was just beside me on the nighttable.
Pretty anoying when he's calling people at night
Same thing happens to me when I keep my phone in my pocket and I forget to lock it. It randomly starts calling my friends, and when I check the recent apps, it shows that my phone opened a large number of apps..... So I guess it's because when the phone isn't locked and something touches the screen, it triggers strange behaviour. That could be the case with your flip cover.

I gotta say that this sounds very creepy.
Anyway, it happens to me very rarely because the dialer is sort of stupidly made, wherever you press in the recent calls it dials directly (besides the contact picture).Same goes to the 3 favorites in the gray squares.
Im having the same issue.

Now my phone won't power on. It is stuck on the HTC screen when booting up.
Get it exchanged.

I returned for the same issue and the new one is fine.
Bad unit, exchange it for sure
Good news. I got it exchanged. But good thing a friend of mine works at AT&T because I accidentally ripped the volume button off when I was opening the battery door. Make sure you don't try to open it without looking.

This seems like a problem that's happening to a whole lot of people. Its turning me away from this phone...

The card that the sim card is attached to out of the box can be used to open the battery door. It slides in at the volume rocker and can be flexed enough to pop the battery cover off very easily.

I think he is taking about the phone shutting down on its own or not powering on. Not the battery door.

But I haven't heard of others having problems like I did. I searched high and low to find out what was wrong with my phone but couldn't find anyone experiencing similar problems.

most likely because its not a common error. seems like you just gotten a bad one from the box.
glad its taken care of!
It's not a big deal but it really annoys me. I don't know if anyone has the same problem, but everytime I hang up the phone, my screen goes black, the LED lights are on, but I can't do anything, back, menu, home, search don't work, I have to push on power button to put the phone in stand by, then power again, slide the unlock screen to be able to go back to home. It gets really annoying after a few short phone calls.
My phone is rooted with stock android, wifi calling and car app freezed, juice defender enable. Anyone has the same problem? I start to think it could be the proximity sensor that's too sensitive because that happens once in a while too when the conversation is still on...

Me three. About one in ten calls doesn't hang up right away. It just sits saying "hanging up".

Happened to me last nigh, after I got done with the call, phone wouldn't come back on, after I took out the Battery and reinstalled it, turned it on and then the LG logo came on while on the bottom it said "Searching System..." That took a few minutes then phone rebooted up,

I saw the same thing on Monday. It took about 5-10 seconds to finish the "hanging up" procedure. Not sure why that happens. I only rooted the phone and froze some safe app by TitaniumBackup.
+1 here

For the first week, I could do a fast swipe across my home screen to get it spinning. Worked 100% of the time. As of yesterday, it literally no longer recognizes these swipes. It won't move at all, or sometimes it will think I clicked on an app instead of swiping.
Same thing applies to the lock screen. I have to slowly bring up the ring to unlock. Extremely irritating.
What saddens me is this happened on my first phone as well after about a week (exchanged that phone because of dust). Looks like it wasn't just that phone.

Same thing happened to me. Seems like after a week things get funky. Probably just some crappy software coding because the Evo3d doesn't have that problem at all.

Hopefully that OTA coming out fixes the problem, or else I might return it for good and wait on another phone.
I had it for 9 days. No problems with touchscreen. And check the "touchscreen not responsive" thread for possible solution

Same thing happened to me last week. Thought it was because I had installed a bunch of apps, but it wasn't that. What I did was I cleaned the phone with a cloth (inside & out) and VIOLA, it started swiping fast again.

Seems like a grounding issue, but we don't exactly know what's causing the problem. It works sometimes, doesn't work others.
This really sucks. Just the other day I could get it to spin with one swipe. It's impossible to do with any amount of swipes now.
I have to double swipe to get it to work. I have to kill all the running processes in the quick settings first.
What's the point of the carousel super spin? Mine doesn't do it unless I hit it just right, but in my eyes its a total novelty.

Agree, not just useless but a waste of time if you trigger it accidentally. Sense REALLY needs a "performance" setting that disables all the animation crap, like Windows has. That sliding home screen after unlocking is also really silly. I want snap, not spins and gradual fades. If they want to make everyone happy they need to maximize customization.

I just use it as a way to make sure my screen is still responsive. I couldn't care less about anything else about it.

Yes we all agree that the effect itself is not important. But it shows the responsiveness of the touchscreen. If you cant get it to spin, your phone feels like ass when you swipe things.Well hell not just swiping, anything touch related. I removed my sim card, battery and SD card to take it back and exchange it and all of a sudden it started working great. Has been flawless for the past few days, real happy! until today.. I left it on the roof of my car and it hit the road at about 55 and got ran over multiple times. I couldn't find it when i went back to try and save my sim for the trusty N1 but my Bluetooth earpiece came on when in the vicinity and i actually got a phone call when i was waiting to cross the road to pick up the carcass. Had to use the BT though unlocking on the screen would slice your fingers open. So now i'm back to a non responsive touchscreen! DAMMIT! I finished it off prying it open to get the sim, battery and SD card out. Asurion replacement to be here Friday.
I had the same problem after three weeks of the touch screen working perfectly. I followed the instructions in the touch screen issues thread and it fixed it!. I didn't even wait an hour like it said. Turn off your phone, take the battery out, put the back cover back on, hold the pet button for like 15 seconds then Open it up and put the battery back in and turn it on. Worked for me!

That process didn't work at all for me. Left the battery out for just over an hour. All screen issues of being unresponsive are still there. No fast scrolling and lockscreen issue getting quite bad. Can't get carousel at all anymore. And it takes about 5 tries to unlock lockscreen.

Sometimes I've got a case when screen doesn't time out at all. Including on latest 4.5.608 update. Reboot fixes it for me. Have you tried rebooting (with taking battery out before powering it on again to make sure it is a true cold boot)?
No I haven't, my case, makes it hard to do a battery pull, guess im just lazy. Will let you know the results. Thanks for the quick response

It's likely a bug of some sort. Hardware and software are so complex, it is impossible to make it perfect. But problems like this one aren't "turning the cart over" especially if they occur rather seldom and there is (somewhat) acceptable "workaround".

Could be simpler?
My wife recently switched from Iphone 2G to a blazing droid 2 G, she was all happiness, but recently she started to complain the same thing your talking about (random screen timeout), so I tried his phone but the problem do not happened when I was using the phone, so after some intriguing days, I found something...
When she uses the phone, sometimes inadvertently she was blocking the sensors (in the upper right frame) that are triggered when you are in a call, causing immediately lock screen.
So, after being more cautious about not to block this part of the screen the problem didn't happen again.
I hope every one else suffers this simple problem instead of having a real hardware issue.
Saludos.
Just disable in-pocket detection.
Download Screebl from the Market. It can detect when your phone I actively being used and prevents screen timeouts until you put the phone down. Great app, I think you'll find it useful.
Gonna try the screebl app out, sounds pretty useful

Just activated my nexus 5 on sprint.
Just after I make or receive a call, my nexus becomes useless and I cannot do anything until I restart the phone. I have no data and cannot make or receive calls. When I try to make a call, it says I'm already in a call and asks me if I'd like to use touch tone keypad, return to call in progress or add call.
Anybody else have this weird issue? After I make or receive a phone call, my nexus is virtually useless till I restart the phone. No matter what I do after a call, if I hover anything over the front right sensor, the screen goes black. The phone must think I'm still "in a call".
If it goes limp, there's medication for that.
Lol really though. How many times has this happened?
