So I'm planning on getting a Moto G, the 16GB version. The question is, which one?
I'm not from the US, so the XT1032(single sim) has to be bought by a friend/relative in the US then given to me. Now, there's an XT1033 which price has been recently lowered to $205.00 locally.
So the question is, which one should I get? I'm not entirely going to use the second sim slot so a Single sim would be perfect for me, although if I were to get the XT1033, what am I to lose, what's being compromised? The rom I intend to flash is CM11, which to my knowledge is already unified.
XT1032 = $199.00 c/o Amazon
XT1033 = $205.00(converted and rounded off) locally available
Any and all opinions will be greatly appreciated.
I guess you should go for the XT1032, since quite a few ROMs don't support the XT1033 if you change from CyanogenMod. Also, the second sim icons are pretty annoying if you're using only one sim. Plus, from what I see, you'll be saving 6 dollars!

Great. I guess I'll be going for the XT1032 instead, else if I couldn't get someone to purchase it for me then I'll be falling to the XT1033.
The case options would be limited too since I wouldn't know where to obtain a trident or otterbox case locally.
You can use the same case for both phones.

Well, that's the beauty of it.
Scratch the XT1032, I might get the Moto G 4G LTE instead. It's got LTE and expandable storage:silly: Now, if my carrier doesn't support any of the LTE bands, will the phone be still useful? Also, in your opinion, how long before CM becomes compatible with the device too? Considering that it's unified but only the dual-sim variant -- XT1033.
They'd probably have to build separately for 4G LTE because of some of the hardware differences, whereas for the XT1032 and XT1033 CM11 is virtually stable. At least for me.

My brother ordered a moto G as a "souvenir" from US but accidentally ordered an US locked version and only to realise that after we have returned to Vietnam. Now are there anyway to unlock the band frequencies ? Here in Vietnam we use different frequencies from US and currently the phone can get signal and 2G networks but doesn't seems to be able to get 3G network and that means trouble for us. Thanks in advance.

It is not a locked version, else you wouldn't even get a signal. It doesn't even have the hardware for the frequencies you need. Sorry, the global version was also on sale here and your brother should have gotten that.

Thanks for the quick reply. Here's a plot twist he actually realized that he had ordered the wrong version and canceled it, Amazon even sent a letter confirming the cancelation. He ordered the international afterward and now we stuck with 2 moto G(s) even though we have already cancelled it.

And you need to return the old one or amazon will charge you. An order on amazon is still shipped even though you cancel. The turnaround is too quick to stop shipment.

At least un USA and LatÃn American, The G os easily the bestia phone for its price... Even better than some costing 2 por even 3 times its price, all thanks to some amazing optimization and pretty much stock android
Get it ! Its well worth it, the best price/performance phone out there alongside the N5

I would not expect much from the camera since it's pretty average but at the price you would be amazed it has a camera at all. but nevertheless the phone is totally worth buying without a doubt.

The camera is pretty subpar. Other than that you will be satisfied, at least for the price point.
I ordered the 8gb one. my sister told she does not need 16gb.. it was up to her to decide.
Battery cannot be removed will that be an issue ?

Where is it? Can't find it. Does it exist? I'm interested in buying it but not sure yet. Another question, if I buy it locked from amazon can I use it without a plan aka phone service? I'm planning to use it strictly for wifi/gps. As a tablet. Anyone know?

from a quick search it looks like it does not have a forum on XDA, but androidforums has one. as for the 2nd question, you are able to use it without a phone service and still use the wifi/gps.
i would recomend getting a moto g instead if your not going to use it for service. its $100 less on amazon but the F7 beats its specs by a little. theres a bigger display on the F7, bigger battery, better CPU (Dual core 1.5ghz vs quad core 1.2ghz) better Camera and expandable storage (MicroSD) while the moto g punchs the F7 with a Higher ppi (pixels per inch) and a hugely better GPU and will be updated to higher versions of android and has a active community on XDA.

Thanks. But they cost the same (200 dollars) on Amazon. So being "locked" won't make it unusable? It HAS to have a external micro sd card slot. So the moto g is not a good choice to me. I love love everything about the moto g EXCEPT the fact that it doesn't have the external sd card. So it has to be between the optimus f7 or optimus g. Both 200 dollars on amazon. Here's the link

When it means "locked" it means its locked to the carrier, but since its boost mobile you can most likely use it on sprint. As for the price, the moto g is $99 on Verizon (amazon) and $129 on boost mobile (amazon)

But the thing is that I don't plan on connecting it. I plan to use it strictly as a wifi only device. So being unlocked or locked doesn't matter if I don't plan on connecting it with a phone plan? Sorry for asking. For example would it matter if I got the cheaper prepaid moto g or the more expensive unlocked version?

I totally know what you mean mate, you are able to use any android device just for WiFi without a data plan,( it might prompt you to activate it but you can just ignore it) if you bought one of them you will be able to use it just like your using your galaxy player 4.2. I was only telling you the carrier info just in case you want to use it in the future

Hi All
I used to have a Motorola RAZR i
I had to give it way and now I bought a Moto G 16gb
Just got it today. And I am liking it so far.
However I noticed that the Power Button and the Volume Rocket Buttons are loose and noisy when the shake the phone.
Is this just my device or is this normal on a Moto G?
If it just mine, do you think I should return it to Amazon, its not the biggest issue but when I buy something new it just feels like it show be perfect.
Thanks
X

So this is not normal for a moto g?
Duplicated thread/topic. It has already been widely discussed here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2547293
Even though is quite surprising and actually seems like an issue it's more of a manufacture standards thing not an excuse/reason to return the device once you'll probably receive another one with the same "issue"
Ok, So I did some searching around after posting
XDA Noob move :/
It seems this is normal for the Moto G, there are reviews and my people posting on numerous forums that this is just the way the build quality is.
Thanks Doublepranks
200 dollar phone. Gonna see some signs of the price in the build. Still amazing for the price.

Does the ROM made for single SIM variant works on the dual SIM model, I mean does the 1SIM work perfectly...atleast 1SIM should work properly!
For sure an upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy SII, Epic 4g Touch. Mostly the battery and the screen. The camera is honestly slightly worse, but I don't instagram my food so it's not a huge deal to me.

Yes, perfectly normal - as long as you're using it on the first sim slot. Doing it myself on mine.
Go for it dude. I got the XT1032 (single-SIM) for 16.5K a few weeks ago, because I was concerned a lot about dev. support. But, seems like you can go with the XT1033 as well as it seems to support most ROMs.
buy it, you wont be disapointed. just remember if you let it discharge completely and it wont turn on or recharge - keep the power button pressed until it turns on
Fantastic phone for the money. Feels like a Nexus, looks like one, performs like one. Great phone, **** 2G battery drain though lol.

Been loving this phone myself. The battery life is amazing on it, and it is pretty tough to kill it. Wish it was 32 instead of 16 gigs but no biggie.

I have moto g and I got the optimus g pro(New at atf is 333 bucks) while the g is a great phone the pro has been in my hands and I haven't even thought bout my g.
It depends on budget and what you need in a phone. I really enjoying have lte again and the pro has more bang for buck for another 100+ but if you need a unlocked phone then the g is your best bet.
