Im experiencing a problem where I'm not being able to connect to 3g using my mobile service even though it's activated.
With the same sim card, I get fast 3G internet on my other Samsung Omnia W wp7.8 handset.
I'm trying to find a setting to toggle fastest internet mode to 3G from 2G on my Windows phone 8x but there doesn't seem to be any.

Any help is geatly appreciated.
P.s : I'm running Windows Phone 8.1 Previews for developers latest update.
Check your model info. I am guessing the 8X you have doesn't support the 3G bands you need for your country. On my T-Mobile US Branded device with 8.1 on it, the 1st screenshot you posted on my 8X has an option called "Highest Connection Speed" and on mine it is set to 4G.

Have 4 problems with my unlocked htc S710 phone:
1) Problem is I can not get the phone to work on one of my gsm providers - my home provider actually. They currently operate on the 1800/900 band. I will see the network (when set manually) get full signal and detect gprs but for some reason I can not make or receive any calls.
Has anyone had this problem ?? .... and what can I do to fix it??
2) Using the other gsm providers SIM the phone actually works (makes and receives call, surfs the net) - provider operates on the 1900/850 band. Problem is it shows a roaming symbol on the phone.
Why is that there? and how can I remove it?
3) When using WiFi i find i can not surf or retrieve mail as my office uses a proxy setting. I have attempted to setup for the proxy but still not working and the manual does not show you.

Problem with this update is I am in JAMAICA, i do not see my providers. We have (2) GSM providers Cable & Wireless Jamaica and Digicel Jamaica.
What you suggest ??
does your provider have to register IMEI's of phones?
it may restrict what phones you can use with them

Digicel not supporting WM6 devices
The problem is that currently Digicel is not supporting the radio firmware embedded in WM6. I found this out after upgrading my HTC P4350 to WM6 to find that I had no connectivity. I ended up being forced to downgrade to WM5. As the S710 is not available with WM5, your only option is to switch to C&W.

Thanks for the response. I was forced to switch to C&W cause the support people and Digicel had NO CLUE ... sad really ... i guess we now know who is the better network! But tell me something i noticed when using C&W the roaming symbol appears on the phone. This does not stop any features from working but i just wanted to know if you had that problem and if so how did you get rid of it.
same here. i too am facing same problem.. when i have vodafone sim i can make incoming n outgoing call but when i change to airtel i get the probs.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (16gb) in Singapore and was using it fine on Singtel's network (signed a contract with them). Now I have moved back to Canada and brought my phone with me assuming that all would be ok to use it with the network here. However I'm having big problems with this one network I just signed up with (Virgin Mobile).
85% of the time I cannot connect to it: voice calls and SMSing won't work nor will the data work on it, the only thing it says is "Emergency calls only". Then at other times everything will seem to connect and work fine - I can make calls and use data.
Virgin Mobile will not support me much because they're thinking it's the phone's problem, if I use the phone they gave me (a lower-end model) it works fine.

If I check out the status, it usually says this:
Network
Unknown (switches to VIRGIN when it does work)
Mobile network type

Out of service

Disconnected (switches to connected when working, and even when it's not working sometimes)
I have Network mode set to auto mode (GSM/WCDMA). I've tried to switch it to GSM only but that didn't seem to change anything.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of configuration settings I still need to do with the phone? I'm also wondering if it is the network I'm with right now? Virgin Mobile isn't one of the bigger telcom companies here and I'm thinking that if I switch to one of the bigger telcoms, will it work better?
Something else to add - before I signed up with Virgin I was using my phone with a pre-paid service (called Chatr) for voice only and it was working fine.
I'm sure this phone can support the GSM frequencies here.. can't it?
I also still have the Singtel customizations on the phone. Will it help if I remove it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i've bought an HTC 8X and aftewards i left the US and unlocked the phone to have it working on other operators, that's fine , it's working except for the internet sharing it gives me a message to call AT&T while im in another country and we even don't have AT&T here at all , i called them they told me we have no solution and we can't enable tethering check a solution with HTC , even HTC told me if it's not enabled throuhg AT&T then we have no solution , then what shall i do , IM EVEN NOT HAVE AT&T HERE , how can i enable internet sharing? ... thank for your help
Just for noticing , i unlocked it through AT&T Itself
Try running the "Connection Setup" utility to see if that helps. (From the home screen, scroll to the left, and then click on "Connection Setup"). I don't know if this will update the tethering settings or not.
If that doesn't work, ask your carrier to provision your account for Tethering. Once they send that to your phone, you should be able to tether.

I sucessfully enabled internet sharing in my Verizon 8X, and it might work with any 8X - internet sharing locked.
I have a problem that I need to know if anyone has an answer for.... I have a Verizon HTC Windows 8x that is unlocked and running on T mobile. I purchased this phone thinking it was fully functional on craigslist. I found out that once you unlock this verizon version phone, it removes the apn mms settings (Cannot send or receive picture messaging), your reception will on go to E or G and not 3G or $G, and you cannot access the internet share options.
I am looking for a way to access the back end and turn these features back on in this phone????

hello
there is no such thing as a backend on this mobile platform
most of this stuff is controlled by the registry
the only limitations known for this device are related to the evdo services on it, impact directly on internet sharing, sms sending
as far for 3G / H+ it should work but it will never activate LTE on standard UMTS Services
also please check for workaround regarding sms and the other "painpoints"

I have new Google Pixel 7 Pro, I'm living in Montenegro my Gsm Company is One Plus.
Here is my problem:
Mobile data not working correctly, I can't connect any website any service from my gsm internet network.
But If I open Hotspot for other devices, all devices can connect internet and working..
But phone can't connect to internet from sim card.
This is so bull****
What's the problem exactly?
I tried this solutions.
Rooted and I installed Network Signal Guru (I changed some band and other settings) but no luck
I installed VotLE patches
Tried factory reset
Tried wifi and network reset
Tried different sim cards
Also I have "exclamation mark" always on the GSM signal. It always there.

Update: I talked my GSM right now. I created new internet profile for connection on settings now working.. Omg it can't connect automatically.. You need set profile settings..

Submit a bug report to Google. It's an easy process. I had similar issue and have submitted bug reports. The more they get, the more likely it'll get fixed.
