Streaming 1080 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so i have had a tf101 for a while now and i have finally got around to rooting and installing a custom as i do with all my devices and it's going great.
however i have always had a problem playing 1080 videos this has always been an issue but it's become more so after i recently got a NAS this i am storing all my movies on.
when playing 1080 videos local or remote the video is fine but the sound cuts in and out, is the same across all video apps on the market.
i thought it might have been the CPU speed but i have overclocked and it is still the same.
any ideas how to fix this?
currently running katkiss.

Umm... this device can only barely play those resolutions smoothly. They sound may suffer, and it might be the filetype/container you're playing as well. It may depend on the video app you're using. MXplayer is generally assumed to be the best and it has some decoder preferences you can tinker with (software/hardware, etc)

Video playback

is absolutely horrible. Compared to my old Galaxy S which could play ANYTHING with the stock video player (even 720p and .mkv files), with no stuttering or lag.
The stock video player can't even play regular .avi's and I've tryed many different formats. Is there any way to fix this and/or improve this?
Thank you.
i just wanna be able to watch some 720p mkv`s on the go..
somebody any ideas?
Yeah, I had the same problems.... I got an alpha of VLC Player, and works fine now. Try a couple players in the market and see what works.

Use another media player then.
Isn't that... obvious?

Dice Player. Yes, you have to pay for it, BUT the picture/playback and sound sync actually make the phone work properly (for me at least). I went through 10 players over 3 months to find it.
Mobo player. Probably one of the best out there since it sets up according to ur phone's specs.

Yes, it is obvious. I'm just extremely disappointed that the stock video player is so bad, it can't even play some of the files that HTC states it should. I also don't feel the need to pay for an app in order to play video files, that's just ridiculous on a high-end phone like this. And let's be honest here, the video players on the market are rubbish.

Atrix 2 and HDMI Mirroring

I purchased the Atrix 2, and tested out playing tv shows using various video players through HDMI mirroring and each video file on every video player resulted in jerky video playback. Plays fine on phone, even plays fine on original atrix using hdmi and video playback mode.
Anyone else who has an atrix 2 have this problem?

Guess the Atrix 2 just isnt as good as the first one. Unless your tv just cant handle that substantial upgrade you made, and now you are forced to upgrade your TV.
On a serious note now, try restarting your phone.. Install take killer and see how much ram you have to play with. Or you just might have to wait for a update from Moto. Could be some codec hardware/software issues. Good luck!

Task killer is nothing but a battery drainer, dont install it please!
I demuxed the video files and the video plays 100% smooth with NO audio. I am converting the audio to mp3 to see if the video will play fine with that codec.
File with mp3 audio didnt even play but I converted the aac audio from 48hz to 44hz and that made a difference. File with 48hz noticeably had alot of frame jumps while file with 44hz still had frame jumps but it didnt have that many. Both files look fine on phone. Problem is while mirroring.

Don't install a Task Killer just use the one the phone comes with that is built in.
Ok so I just tried HDMI Mirroring and it works flawlessly granted you really need to reformat the videos to an acceptable format considering I tried to watch a non formated .mkv video and because of the compression of that video type it did stutter a bit. .avi has a slight issue with Not actually playing at least the one I attempted anyway. .mp4 played perfectly with no issues at all. Will let you know if I figure out any tricks for optimizing videos.
Edit: Yea ok so after playing with Multiple Videos it seems that it depends on the compression of the video as far as I can tell, considering I just got a bunch of Other .avi's to function with no issues at all. So yea seems video related.

All the files I tested were video files I already converted to work with my Atrix, which works on my atrix perfectly fine using the Entertainment Center feature of the original Atrix. The files also work perfectly fine on the SGS 2 mirroring. The files play perfectly fine on the Atrix 2 with the exception of mirroring, the frames jerk randomly. I removed the audio from the video file and it worked perfectly. I tried playing a low res divx and it still did the frame jumps.

I had already tried rock player and just tried dice player and the frames still jump. The files play perfectly fine on the phone itself with stock player and any other player. The problem is when you try playing it while in HDMI mirror mode.
how does the games look with HDMI mirror? ie: angy birds, need for speed? any frame drops?

I just tried mirroring FPSE and it lagged real bad. I mirror it just fine on SGS2 and original atrix using photon rom.
Wack.
Also here is a video showing the Samsung Galaxy s2 mirroring FPSE just fine, however Atrix 2 cant seem to handle it.
FPSE runs smoother in Atrix Webtop mode then it does in Atrix 2 mirror mode
I cant install NFS Shift, when trying to download it just says NaN 0mb
Good news is I posted this over at motorola forums and Mark, the forum moderator said that motorola will look into this problem.
Hopefully they do some sort of fix.

My experience is that Mark will pass the issue on. He has no control over what happens after that, but he will bring it to the attention of someone higher up.

Hey Shanghei,
How does the atrix 2's screen look? Is it nicer than the Atrix 1? Is it Pentile technology?

[Q] 1080p mkv file

How can i watch mkv file in 1080p?
***The last time they asked was in may sooo....***
1. play the file on a recent computer.
2. buy the transformer prime when it comes out
tf101 can't handle 1080p as far as i understand.
Or convert the video to a 1080p lower profile - then it can handle it.

The display is 1280*800 so 1080p is pointless, however ... give BSPlayer a try as it handles 720p fine for me.

How come I did not find this player earlier? I tried several other media players that claimed to use hardware acceleration, but neither of them played even 480p mkvs smoothly. Thanks a lot, now I can finally watch my favorite anime shows without the need to reencode them.

It just means that the display hasnt got the 1080pixels the video is offering, if its playing a 1080p movie it downscales it to 720 then pumps out an upscale to 1080 ... kinda pointless

Why cant i play 720P MKV?

For christ sake
in asus site its says it can play 1080P
but i cant play 720P Fluent in mkv format?
i have the Alcatraz episode on 720P couldnt see it yestarday and i cant play it proper to see it
i used dice player and MX video player
nothing played it fluent
any thoughts?
i know it seems like more work but for MX video. there is also an "add on" that is listed for our processors. After that, make sure hardware decoding is on(settings).

Welcome to a Tegra-zone full of disappointment.
I too thought this was something tegra2 should handle without even breaking a sweat, after all that BS-advertisment.
And then this... Yeah well. What can you do?
If you just bought it, I'd return it and get a prime. With twice the amount of cores, it should at least be able to do basic tasks such as playing videos which my 5 year old laptop could handle.
non of them
Using Android Revolution HD and MX Video Player 720p mkv plays smooth even over CIFS.All mkvs I use are P2P encodes.
Dice Player seems to handle MKV files the best for me. It is a paid app but you can download the trial for free I believe. Also, mkv files can actually be a lot of different things. The MKV file itself is just a container file, and can contain video encoded in a number of different ways. The Tegra 2 can only handle stuff that was encoded in H264/MP4 using the Basic profile I think it's called? Or baseline? Something like that.
Running prime rom
not going to change it for watching TV
ill guess il convert it to MP4
Dice Player plays my League mkv's perfectly fine. They look gorgeous.
Do a search man, this has been covered time and time again. But here is my input.
why not just convert them? I use dvd catalyst to convert all my videos to mp4. the end result is a file thats 80 percent smaller
and looks just as good as the mkv on a 10" screen. I carry 2 32 gigabyte sd cards and have close to 50 movies on them. They even look good over hdmi out on my lcd and led tvs at home.

Using dvd catalyst it takes about 15 minutes per mkv, I do large batches over night while I am sleeping, much quicker and less stressful. Plus you get a more efficient file... And you only need to do it once.
I struggled with this when I first got my tf, not all my mkvs would play, I think it had to do with the airstrip compression but I don't remember. Any way, once I figured out the converting method I use now, everything has been smooth sailing. Aside from the initial push, (converting my entire library) it odd really a hassle free option now.
Even if I could play mkvs perfectly I would still convert them, I would prefer a 1.2gb file over a 5-6gb file any day. What I carry on 2 sd cards would take 8 if they were 720p mkv files.
But to reach their own.

[GUIDE]Install Working Amazon Instant Video

Hello, I tried getting amazon instant video up and running a few different ways and found it to be unreliable at best. I found an easy method that seems to work flawlessly. I've only watched 1 show so far but it worked like a charm, here is how you do it:
1. Install Kodi (i think x86 is the correct one): http://kodi.tv/download/
2. Install this addon repository: https://code.google.com/p/addonscri...=repository.addonscriptorde-beta.zip&can=2&q=
for more info check this thread: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=215255
3. Install the Amazon Instant Video player from his repo
4. Login and watch video
pretty easy, especially since most people probably have kodi installed already, and if you dont, you should.
Are you using this inside the US? I had problems playing most of the videos when the plugin was released. Wondering if they figured it out yet...

not sure what is going on. it is working fine on my end. i've watched probably 6 or so episodes of the americans without issue. i read somewhere in that thread i posted above that you may need to adjust video stream resolution size if you have problems, you may want to check out that thread for support. i set mine to 1080p but it appears to be playing in 720p which is fine for me cause i mainly watch it in my bedroom which is not my main tv.
