WARNING: Marvell PXA1088 powers Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 - Galaxy Tab 4 General

Based on @sw6lee 's build.prop information, Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 powered by Marvell PXA1088 SoC.
Code:
ro.product.model=SM-T230NU
ro.product.brand=samsung
ro.product.name=degaswifiue
ro.product.device=degaswifiue
ro.product.board=PXA1088

ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi

ro.product.locale.language=en

ro.board.platform=mrvl
Also confirmed by Vivante: http://vivantecorp.wordpress.com/2014/05/02/vivante-powers-samsung-galaxy-tab-4/ . Vivante is the GPU maker for PXA1088 SoC, GC1000.
More information about PXA1088: http://www.marvell.com/communication-processors/pxa1088/features.jsp
I experienced working for PXA988 device Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 in kernel level, though I don't own this device. Based on Marvell, PXA1088 platform compatible to PXA988, both powered by Vivante GC1000 GPU. Some information for you:
Tab 3 7.0 ramdisk size limited to 1MB from the bootloader, too small for custom recovery
No USB host support, hardware limitation
No AOSP reference out there, it's hard to build a custom ROM
I managed to fix ramdisk size limitation https://github.com/kumajaya/android...mmit/2f156084ddcdea962ce23d68ad6a7b191dbc0075 and immediately custom recovery available for Tab 3 7. With touchscreen fix https://github.com/kumajaya/android...mmit/caa7019bcca4ce714d3c1288ac5471334acb0d98, touch base recovery also available. It's hard for the other two problems and I have no access to Tab 3 7.0 device. Custom kernel also available for Tab 3 7.0, of course from me Somehow only xz compressed boot/recovery image manage to boot Tab 3 7.0 :laugh:
Tab 4 7 owner, it's a good idea to upload your device boot.img and recovery.img here. I'll investigate it for you :good: Give me your device "cat /proc/cmdline" output.

This would be a great start for our tabs

holy s**t... I saw on google it's powered by 1.2 quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 with gpu Adreno 305 :
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_4_7.0
how could be Samsung fooling us?

Wiki can be edited by anyone. Just run the cpuz app on the 7.0 and it will confirm marvell
Only the 8.0 & 10.1 have the Snapdragon.
Ketut, any chance we can recruit you to work on the 8 & 10.1?

For now I am only interested in the Tab 4 7.0 to open a possibility to bring back Tab 4 7.0 update to Tab 3 7.0 .

I used cpu-7 and my device says that its powered by arm cortex-a7 with a vivante gc1000 gpu. I have the 7inch sm-t230nu

Got it now !
It seems Tab 4 7.0 have a Marvell PXA1088 SoC
While Tab 4 8.0 could have a Qualcom Snapdragon MSM8226.
Still wondering WHY samsung always make Tab 8" better than 7" even 10.1" sometimes

Yep, vivante here.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with android devices as this is my first one....
But I want to help if I can, so let me know which files you need and where I can find them in the device and I'll upload them.

Is it worth it to take this back and get the 8 inch? Are the processors that much different in performance? I will be playing games on this not just watching streaming video and internet browsing.

I am NOT sure Tab 4 7.0 is for Gaming because Marvell PXA1088 and Vivante GC 1000 combination seems NOT to be okay.
However Tab 4 8.0 should handle all latest games with NO noticeable lag because of the Qualcom MSM8226 and Adreno 305 (with OpenGL 3.0 ). So I would suggest you to buy this if want a gaming Tab 4.
The same situation happened with Tab 3 series where Tab 3 8" was the gaming one because of its Exynos Dual 4212 CPU and the Quad Core Mali-400MP GPU. Even Tab 3 10.1 Gaming was a bit worst than Tab 3 8" (and I had the Tab 3 10.1 P5210)

Well I am taking it back and getting a pro 8.4, this is a pretty slow device all around, also the screen resolution stinks for reading. I like the new interface tho. Good luck with the porting!

Hello
It is not accurate that PXA1088 does not support usb host
i cannot post link here yet but if you go to marvell's site and find the pdf named : Marvell_PXA1088-02_product_brief.pdf you will notice it mentions usb host.

I saw that too. But I tested with apps and it seems it's a hardware limitation. But maybe like the GT3 it maybe fixed with a custom Kernel.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (10.1) - CyanogenMod x86

Guys, today ciwrl form CyanogenMod has posted an weekly update, where you can read:
Intel SDP
Intel’s representatives sat with us for a quick chat at DroidCon and graciously gave us one of their Software Development Platforms! The special Galaxy Tab 3.0 went home with Shane and he will (hopefully) use it as a head-start on adding x86 support into CM. Watch this space for more in the future.

This is news only for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 since only 10.1 version of GalaxyTab 3 is powered by Intel Atom chip (x86 architecture) (Tab 3 7.0 is Cortex A9 ARM, Tab 3 8.0 is Samsung Exynos 4 ARM).
Keep your fingers crossed!

I think we are out of luck. All focus will be on the new tab 4 series very soon. It's just a shame. Development hasn't went very well on this device because of the intel cpu, (I guess) I wish I had bought the tab 2 10.1.

Oh im sure the development community will be all over the tab 4 family. You can get jellybean on your home pc (dual boot with windows) but this device seems to be an orphan. At least samsung hasn't abandoned it yet. They say we will get kitkat.
Here is the link if you want jellybean on your pc. It really is pretty cool.

I just tried this. I installed android alongside windows fine but when I got to the android welcome screen it was super laggy and rebooted once. Any ideas? I have two AMD 77770's running maybe I should just run a single GPU and see if that works.

Hmmm I have a dell optiplex core 2 duo 3 ghz with stock intel graphics, and its usable. Some folks say they loaded it on their old pc's with 478 intel cpu's and say it made them faster than xp was. I have no proof of that, but that's what they said in some comments I found. It doesn't run that fast on my old pc. I wonder if there is anything in it that would help angel666 in the CM project.

Can you please give me a direct link to post about WiFi variant? I'm reading this thread since it opened and couldn't find any working builds for p5210. There's a P5210 boot.img and mine build.prop but after flashing it ends in Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 for me ...
If anyone could compile a build for P5210 it would be great.

Compare Core 2 Duos x Win Duos

Good afternoon
@manojkumar8552, @gody420, @mahir kukreja, @weritos,
Folks
I would like just a little times by u and look for this, I was analyzing and comparing the Core 2 Duos with our Win Duos. This link below is a homepage here from Brazil where we can compare devices and their similarities.
The core 2 like the old Core is very similar with win , its armv7 and Quadrcore processor. On lasted release by Samsung this device was update to 4..4..2 Kitkat version and i think so this build can be help us to fix RIL to CM11 project
What u think ? Would like ur opinion

Android Oreo(Go Edition) Request

Can anyone please, make a version of Android Oreo(Go Edition) to be compatible with phone??
That's unlikely to happen since we don't even have a Lollipop ROM for this device, and spec-wise, it's way too obsolete. RAM's not too bad (other than the fact that it is LPDDR1...), but then again, the crappy Cortex-A5 processor is probably gonna choke on Oreo. And it's worth nothing that nobody's working on this device anymore. I'd say buy a new device if you can.
Also, can any mods move this to the general section?
Ooooh!
We can build the oreo but it is a hard work.
You should buy a new phone. :crying: :highfive:
Lol...can oreo survive on single core A5 chip?
Impossible project.. even of its made, it would take forever to make it work fast and battery friendly.
Lol
Whoever made this thread, I want to tell him that
You'll need at least 2 cores to get to lollipop to work, so oreo would be 8 cores minimum
Friendly advice:good::fingers-crossed:

U cant just say core. Cores are of different capaciy. There are A5, A7 ,... ...A53, A57, A72, A73.
4 x A53 cores are enough. 8 cores are not needed. Deca cores are simply waste of battery.

How to change the processor architecture with supported processor

Hello
I own a samsung galaxy j4 (sm-j400m)a iam running this version of stock rom oreo 8.0.0 (https://www.stockrom.net/2019/04/sm-j400m-b3.html)
,rooted with magisk and bootloader unlocked,also running this custom kernel (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j4+/development/kernel-j4-t3873293). my question is how to change the processor architecture, because he has a exynos 7570 64bit as seen on the third page here(https://s3.ap-northeast-2.amazonaws...file/solution/MobileProcessor-7-Quad-7570.pdf) and he is running as a 32 bit processor. Im very noob at programming so i am asking for help.as a matter of fact i know he is running this 32 bit mode for better perfomance but i want to change somehow with custom rom, to make it a 64 bit processor. This is the only way i can play games like life is strange,fortnite,Ark survival evolved that requires this processor architecture.On cpu-z and antutu benchmark it shows this https://imgur.com/yJ90wde https://imgur.com/Px4iPXp
Is there any custom rom for this model running the 64 bit architecture?

Update Android on Elcano 2 (MT8389)

Hi everyone! This is my first post so..first of all I apologize for my grammar, I'm Spanish.
A few days ago I found at home a BQ phablet model Elcano 2 Quadcore. After charging and turning on the device I realized that it currently runs android 4.2.2. I managed to root my device so that I could update it to a more current version of android. The problem comes when I can't find any TWRP recovery or support on Lineage OS.
I have read that you can use the recovery of another device with the same specifications as mine but I have not found anything on the internet either.
Hope you can help me update my phablet. I don't need the latest version of android, by making my device useful I'm satisfied.
I downloaded the Aida64 application to know what processor I have:
MediaTek MT8389
4x ARM Cortex-A7 @ 1508MHz
1Gb Ram
32Gb ROM
7inch
Thanks dudes
