[Q] worth it? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey people,
I got a HTC one x+ here and I am tired of HTC support so I'm moving to another phone...
I would have bought galaxy s5 but Imo the phone looks bad and if I compare specs, oneplus one beats it like a boss...
So I want to buy a new phone somewhere in august, should I wait for a better phone or buy the 64GB OnePlus One?
Share me your experience with this phone please, thanks
-ozi

Seems that it is very quite here, look as though no one is interested in it.
I saw reviews saying that there is issue with the microphones when making calls, but no where else to get answer.

If you can get ahold of one, yeah, it'll be worth it. Hopefully by August they'll be readily available. Of course, by fall it might be "obsolete", surpassed by phones with Snapdragon 805s or 610s or whatever with QHD screens, but even then, at the price they're selling for, it's still an amazing deal.

The majority of the people reading these forums have never used a One so they can't really give you an honest opinion.

Just a few questions

I'm totally going to upgrade to a One phone. I'm on T-Mobile, and I'm kinda sad we won't get the MOA black version. But I'm curious, aside from its strength what other advantages will the MOA get compared to the Grey anodized version?
I'm case I decided to get the One X, will either of those versions get T-Mobile faster 4G?
And correct me if I'm wrong but.. The One X and One S here in the US is practically the same phone, the only difference being screen type and size (obviously resolution) and battery??
Also, I love the screen on my brothers Galaxy S 4G, is the One S similar, worse or better than that?
Does the T-Mobile version have dual microphone? One regular and one noise canceling?
Sorry, but no the One S and the One X aren't even close. The S uses an S4 chip, while the One X uses the Tegra3. Now if you meant the AT&T version (which is the One XL), then they are the same other than the screen type/size, battery, and I think the XL will still have 32GB memory unlike the 16GB on the S. Of course I'm half asleep making this post so please forgive me if I was/am wrong on any of that. As far as the mic goes I'm not sure.
On a side note I hate the fact T-Mobile isn't getting the MAO version.
I think the one xl, has a dual core processor, not sure of that, but I think i heard it somewhere. If that's true, i recommend de one s, as it's cheaper, and still an awesome phone.
Sent from a potato via tapatalk
Yeah I was referring to the One XL. I seriously hope the One S does have dual microphones. That would at least save it a bit from lack of MOA

I'm on Tmobile USA. The more I debate between the One S and the One XL. The more I lean towards the One XL which should work on Tmobile. One XL has an HD screen and a bigger screen over the One S. Plus the Front Facing camera is a tad better on the One XL.

I'm on T-Mobile too, and the only reason I'm considering getting the One S is due to price. I have an extra line on my account. My mom wants to put my dad in my account so that the whole family will be in my account. Obviously the phone would be way cheaper, especially if I go to Sams club or Costco.
If I get the One X I'm paying full retail, and there's no guarantee they'll sell it to me the week it is released cause they give preference to their customers or new customers.
Not to mention, don't know how long it'll take for them to get me an unlock code.

I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's using the same TI wifi chip as the Amaze. That really hindered dev. on that phone since HTC isn't releasing the source for that.
How do we know that we are not getting the black version?
Alright I work at T-Mobile and my boss has a friend in tmobile that actually had a meeting with a HTC guy and he even held the one s he told me wonders about it but he also told me that in 2-4 months from release the black one will actually come to tmobile and that it was already confirmed so Id rather wait for the black one
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using XDA
So you heard from a guy who met with a friend of a friend that it's confirmed?
folks that sounds crazy.. waitin for a device for about several months just for another color?! i can understand that this is important - i personally would never buy the silver one, luckily living in Germany where it's no prob to get the black one - but in this case: i would order it somewhere else or live with it

i probably would not wait 2-3 month for the black version over the grey one myself however i can understand if someone does! first of all it's not only the color (and the more beautiful look) but also the texture and improved durability. if someone wants to keep the phone for 2 years maybe waiting 2 more month and actually get what you want might not be so crazy ... aside from that i consider myself also lucky living in a country wher the black unlocked version is already available
I can completely understand that it's an issue. just as mentioned: i wouldn't buy the gradient metal version either. but since i'm quite impatient i would definitely try ANY workaround but ok, i'm quite lucky not having to deal with this.. hope for you guys over there, that t-mobile is a bit quicker
Just to b clear we are all preety much coworkers I was just emphazising on the fact that it is someone ranked up to be tmobile's manager of all the tmobile dealers in my area he's not just a tmo sales rep like me and I dont even like my boss that much anyways

[Q] One S Development

Hello guys, i'm in love with the One S, but i've been watching the forums lately, and the One S is receiving way less attention then the One X.
We have at least 3 big and great custom Roms for the One X, and i can't see any for the One S yet.
Do you guys think the One S android development is going to reach the One X sometime?
I want to know this, before i buy the phone, or else i'm getting a One X
One x doesn't have a bootable cyanogenmod..mainly sense roms. The desire HD took a while to kick in on dev side also..its preference
The only development missing is really cyanogenmod daily type and tool sets Modding battery etc.you won't be missing out on much.plus our battery's last longer and doesn't have the flex issue the first x stock has lol
It is slow bit but come onn...crap phones have active development...it will happen.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA Premium App
One X counts as "Flagship" so more ppl buying it - more development. But I think after first few 2-3 month ppl will understand that S is as good as X, also I guess it wont be problem to take same roms from X and make them avaible for S.
Definetly not something what should affect your decision about what phone to buy. Choose which u like more, the development of roms will be good for both.
Maybe One S will get more attention after it gets released on Tmobile.

Once again, thanks!

I'm so happy that I opted for the S instead of the X. In my (humble) opinion, most people have been drawn to the Quad core of the X - but it seems the S is just as, if not more, powerful!
I think as people realise that the S is up there in the power ratings then development will pick up. I hope so, I miss having my Insertcoin\ARHD etc ROMs to choose from =D

Its not the Quad-core that stands out on X, its the 720p IPS SLCD2 display. Its the best on the market today. I havent seen One S in person, but usually SAMOLED displays suck big time, perhaps HTC done some calibration on this one to make it better.
I love the Amoled screen, I thought it was ace on the SGS.... I think its even better on the One S....
if someone doesnt like it, They tend to slate it, and that puts other people off... instead of just sayin 'personally its not for me, i prefer the xxxxxx screen' they rant and rave 'oh its **** dont waste your money'
and it gives it a bad reputation

I won't buy a phone if I don't think there's going to be a good amount of development for it. That being said, I think the fact that its a global phone will help alot.
and its being announced by T-Mobile right now.

i also can't wait for s-off. the htc dev method isn't a choice for me.
I'm disappointed in the developers which decide blind for the one x. Sure it is the Flagship, but with years old manufacturing technique. nobody can say that a comparable 40nm manufactured cpu saves more energy that a 28nm manufactured one. faster sure, but a pockedheater^^
only one good dev for a rom and one for the kernel is enought for us. I love to flash costum roms, best two times a week^^ i miss it.

change from galaxy nexus to one s

hey guys
i have the opportunity to change my 2months old galaxy nexus against a brand new htc one s without paying something.
would you buy the one s over the galaxy nexus or are you happy with your one s
the galaxy nexus is a great phone. The one s is also a great phone..
if you can get the one s and it wont cost you a penny. do it
i got my one s for free too, Otherwise i probably would have stuck with my old phone (sensation)
but hey you got nothing to lose
I'm also in the same boat. If i still like the One S After checking it out a T-mobile store (im a bit worried about the screen). I am confident ill find someone willing to swap for a galaxy nexus
+1 for being in the same boat. The only thing holding me back is a few reviews I have read made mention of the sub-average reception on the HTC One S.
The reception issue was addressed by T-Mobile and a fix or correction to the software will be made to the handsets before the customers receive their phones. But I'm just recycling information. I take reviews with a grain of salt as far what people have to say about screen and such. Everyone has an opinion and compares said A to Said B. Check the phone out, if you like it get it. If not there are many other phones out there. Enjoy technology!
Cheers.

Anyone selling there phone to get SGSIII?

Just checking to see if anyone is selling there Sensation or any other phone to get the GSIII, or just might be buying one and keeping there old phone? I know I been thinking about getting one lately since mobile network is so slow and sometimes I have no signal either . Other than that, I love my Sensation just tired of the hassel with the signal sometimes. Don't know if Im selling my phone or not but I might get one from T-mobile on release date I guess (June 21,2012), haven't heard about the price yet only specs.
Nope i think my sensation will do until the end of my contract which is in february 2013 ... And then ill see the phones available at that time...

Anyways, I'm not selling my Sensation, I'll just do an upgrade on one of my lines.
Not buying til there's significant battery improvements
Not worth to change.

Keeping my Sensation... Not a big fan of Samsung!
Agree with some points - until there is not much improvement in battery life, I'll keep it.
Not just Yet
The Sammy is better phone than the Sensation, but it's not worth an upgrade, maybe if we got the quad core version. besides the HD screen, I'd be interested to see if anyone could name something the Sammy can do that the Sensation can't.

I love trying new phones an all, but will probably wait a little after release date. Wonder, will it be a major difference in performance compared to the dual version and the quad?
NOPE, keeping my sensation until it's paid off then seeing what Android is available at that time. I'm on payment plan so at least a year. Then I'll look into what's new at that time. I'm waiting on a Motorola nexus quad core. Til then will do!
Even though Google did buy Motorola I doubt that they will be making the hardware for it.
Google already said that they don't want to directly get into the hardware business.
Mainly they just wanted Motorola for their collection of patents.
Either way, (sadly phones are a expensive habbit for me lol), have a sensation, amaze, and one s. Due to the signal fluctuations and problems I have had with that phone I will be selling the one s and getting the GSIII. I will still probably keep the amaze and sensaiton. Mainly the sensation because I have alot of accessories and protection for it for when working on my cars and stuff which I haven't got for the Amaze which just has been a "good" not for work backup. Plus I flash the sensation too much to get rid of that phone.

They have a bunch of kick ass Verizon droid phones. It's only matter of time until they release a Motorola nexus, which at that point might be quad core. Companies tend to change their mind sooner or later! I had the amaze and in my opinion I enjoy the sensation more.

It's very possible, there are going to be 5 Nexus devices this year from different manufacturers
I would like to have a quad core handset. One X would have been my preferred choice (love sense) but I need a unit with a removable batt.
SGS3 is one option or maybe the new Huawei Ascend D Quad (http://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_ascend_d_quad-4568.php) which is due to surface next month.
I have a feeling Huawei will soon become a major player. They are already a giant company in networking etc.
Nah I'm not a fan of quadcores full stop. My contract expires may next year and so I'm going to compare the octacore beasts there are roaming the jungle at the time. Probably a HTC but we never know maybe a s4 ( I say extremely hopefully ).

Thinking of trading in my One S

Hi everyone I'm thinking of trading in my One S for a Galaxy S II due to more support from Samsung for updates etc and the fact it has sd card support any thoughts on this would be appreciated
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
I wouldn't trade it for a Galaxy SII. And don't be misled by the amount of updates, you're still stuck with a different layer on top of vanilla Android. And, personally, I'd rather be caught walking around with the HTC One S. Except for the loose SIM-cover, it's a very robust yet elegant device, whereas the GSII is still mostly iPhone-esque plastic. But that's just my taste. If you're willing to trade purely for support (and perhaps compatibility and other Android experience related things), I'd get the Galaxy Nexus. (Still Samsung and I still have my complaints about the hardware design, but it's not bad and software is definitely on the front. You'd get Jelly Bean very quick (roll-out started already) too, and that's by far the most stable and smoothest Android experience you're going to get this year, until the next Nexus comes out.

You dont need to wait for updates from HTC just use custom roms all the goodness of a stock rom with all the bloat taken out and much better battery life, Samsung are the worst for updates they never fix the major issues, im never buying a samsung product again, they are cheap and badly made
DONT DO IT !!!
Why trade it in for something older and of a lesser spec ?
If anything you should upgrade it, or trade for something of equivalent specs, Head over to the XDA market place, Im sure you could find some good deal there !
