[SOLVED] No Wifi after root SCH-I535 4.3 NC1 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I inherited a SCH-I535 that had already taken the NC1 ota. I finally found a safe way to root, although an unlocked bootloader would be ideal, beggers cant be choosers. Any way all went well, I flashed ML1 with odin then safe root and flash NC1 again. Root access!! For some reason I decided to use EZ-Unlock, big mistake instant hard brick! I successfully revived with the debrick.bin SD Card boot. I am back but no wifi, I am not sure if the root access or debrick disabled my wifi. I have had no success finding info on any other thread specific to this situation. Forgive me I missed a thread stating a fix.

Just thought I would update. I flashed the complete stock ML1 rom via Odin then re-rooted again with safe root. Everything is working great I have wifi again and full root access.

Rooting is explained in Post #2
Flashing ROMS is explained in Post #3
ive been trying to root my recently updated 2.3.6 skyrocket and just cant seem to get it.
i was on 2.3.5 and rooted lat week, performed the OTA 2.3.6 update and lost root (didnt install rootkeeper)
ive tried all the methods and none of them work. ive tried
S2root
SuperOneClick2.3.3
V4Zergrush
and none of them work.
ive tried searching the entire forum for Root 2.3.6 on the latest OTA and cant find anything.
i can only find root options for the OLD 2.3.6 that was released months ago and retracted by AT&T.
is the latest 2.3.6 not possible to root yet?

Use Odin (link posted above). Follow the instructions VERY CAREFULLY. Do not check re-partition or you will brick.
Good luck!
i dont want CWM though.
my last root process i was able to root and retain stock recovery image so that i would have no issues with future OTA updates.
is rooting no longer possible with out having to flash CWM now?

I didn't get the OTA but have been running Silver's LA3 rom, so I haven't tried to root from stock LA3.
But I guess I'm puzzled as to why you wouldn't want cwm...
At any rate, if you really want stock recovery you can flash it back in Odin by downloading the stock 3e recovery from seanzscreams thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446566&highlight=fix+fc+s (you wouldn't need to follow all the instruction there for your purposes, but you can get the 3e recovery to flash back). Just download and unzip the file there. Stock recovery is in the zip.

[Q] Update to 4.1.2 unrooted me - Easyest Method to root unlock? Odin or Bootchain

Hello like many i had an update come through taking my root away.
I have been lazy and havent much messed with it untill now. I am wanting to root+unlock bootloader then install synergy on
my phone.
I was going to use a BootChain guide I read here in the forums but it seems some people have been getting bricks using this method.
I have a root66 4.1.1 rom that has already been rooted.. Would it be safer to Odin back to 4.1.1 install Ez-Unlock>unlock bootloader
then install synergy?
this is my only phone so I want to take the method with the least amount of risk..
thank you all.
Right now you are not making any sense because you are mentioning two methods both uses Odin. One changes the boot chain and one that doesn't.
sorry.. I am asking what method would be easiest with the smallest chance of a brick.
Should I Either use the Bootchain method or Should I Odin back to root66 4.1.1
A: Bootchain for root and unlock
or
B: Odin back to Root55 4.1.1 >then use ez unlock
What is the best method?

I've rooted many times using the bootchain method and it works just fine. If you follow the directions correctly, you shouldn't have any issues.

[Q] Trying to install 4.3 OTA

My phone is rooted, and has TWRP custom recovery installed.
The phone automatically downloaded the OTA, and tried to install it. With TWRP, the update failed and my phone is working fine now.
I don't need the rooting anymore (was for teetering, but with new data plan it's now included). So I'm okay with losing the root and all.
Using SuperSU I deselected the rooting, and after reboot RootCheck tells me my phone is not rooted. I still have TWRP installed.
Now, I'm stock MF1/ 4.1.2. How do I install the 4.3 update and remove the TWRP recovery? I found in another thread the 4.3 Tar file. Do I simply use Odin on my PC and flash it on my phone? What about TWRP?

Are you sure you want the 4.3, this latest rom will lock your bootloader permanently, meaning you will NOT able to install CWM,TWRP, custom rom/kernel or downgrade the OS to the early version. The only thing you can do once updated is root. If you still decided to upgrade, just Odin the full rom MF1 here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 then after bootup your OS should auto update to the latest (OTA).

I had the same question myself, and have been proverbially "running around in circles" today (instead of working). Anybody have success flashing said Odin file and then upgrading via the OTA?
Ha! I came from a mytouch3g years ago, flashing incessantly. I got this phone so i could stop. Then rooted to take the ads away, and got a bit more than I bargained for... now I just want back on OTA stock.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Cheers

if you download this full firmware http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 unzip the file then use Odin to flash, this will bring you back to pure stock rom with stock recovery (no more twrp/cwm). After this you will be prompt for OTA and just take the upgrade. Once done you should be on the latest factory 4.3 with locked bootloader.
I ended up downloading the 4.3 files from another post here, and flashing it with Odin. Worked fine.
Of course, without a root, can't recover my apps from Titanium but oh well.

Why don't you just root with saferoot found here?http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758
I wish I would have found this thread before starting my own... woops. Anyway I would like to install 4.3 and I too rooted with twrp. I don't care anymore if I am rooted or not. I stopped flashing roms and such a while back and will be upgrading this next year to the s5 most likely.
Is there a way to install 4.3 w/out removing root? If not, since I never used odin, and used twrp what steps do/should I take to get back to where I can install 4.3?
Thank you.

Since your life is too busy and you don't want to mess with your phone anymore, your best bet is go back to stock 4.3 which is very good by the way, very stable, smooth and bug free. After so many complaints from my wife I rolled it back to stock 4.3 and she's so happy now.
1. Flash stock MF1 here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23134718111254196 , just unzip the flash with Odin
2. Your phone should take the 4.3 OTA update and you're home free.

[Q] Unlocked XT926, can't flash custom recovery

Help! I cannot flash a custom recovery onto my phone (Verizon/RAZR Maxx HD). I used to have SafeStrap installed and it worked fine. One day I took a OTA update and lost root. So I used RSD Lite to re-flash my stock partition so I could take advantage of Towelroot and Motopocolypse while they still worked and was successful in doing both. So my phone was unlocked and rooted again and I was so happy I just used it as is for a few months. Later on, on decided it was time to try a new ROM, at which point I attempted to flash CWM recovery and it failed. So then I tried flashing SafeStrap again, and now that also failed. Then, in the process of troubleshooting failure to flash a custom recovery I managed to unroot myself (thanks to someone's bad advice). ... And of course this happened after I already took the OTA update that patched the towelroot exploit. So now my phone is Unlocked but not rooted anymore. I still cannot flash CWM (which is what I'd like to do) and use a custom ROM. Any helpful advice or constructive feedback would be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
Currently on Android 4.4.2, System Version 183.46.15.xt926.Verizon.en.US
Are you sure you are unlocked? Boot into your fastboot screen and tell us what it says. If you are unlocked, it's easy to regain root. Flash a recovery (try TWRP since CWM seems to not work) and flash a SU zip.

Same Issue
Apparently they slipped in a fix for towelroot because I losr root. Still have an unlocked bootloader thanks to motopokalyse. I actually jacked my stock recovery and am working on fixing now. I'll let you know if I get it fixed and can flash a recovery.

Used S5 rooted KK

Just picked up a used S5 that was already rooted running KK, not sure of the root method used. Looking to upgrade to Lollipop but obviously can't take the OTA, used unroot in SU and the OTA says it's been modified and won't take it. How do I update it to lollipop and still keep my data?

You unrooted but you may still have a custom recovery. That will prevent the OTA update. Without more info it is hard to tell you the right way to go. I would backup what you have first. Do a nandroid. I would backup apps and data with Titanium Backup (but you can't since you already unrooted).
I had a Note3 that was rooted, slightly modified and then unrooted. I was able to get it back to stock and updated using Kies. Not sure if that will work for you in this case.

You could try Triangle Away but I'm not sure that would work. The best way would be to put the phone into download mode, and then use Odin to go to the stock OA6 Lollipop build, but this would cause you to lose all your data. You could also re-root, titanium backup / sms backup and restore, then once you Odin to Lollipop you can restore all your old apps and data as well as text messages.
So I can jump right to the stock OA6 lollipop odin with no issues? At this point I have all my stuff backed up and don't care about what's left on the phone, wipe it clean and start fresh is what I'm thinking. My plain is to odin the stock OA6 build, root using chainfire and hotspot mod.
Go for it. That should work. Use Odin to load the full tar of oa6 and then root it.
