If you looked at the link above, you'll see where I messed up.
Deleted the stock MMS app as per instructions on his thread, any third party SMS app will force close whenever I open a conversation thread - but in the conversations window it'll work fine.
Need to get the stock green MMS flashed back on so that I can start texting again.

Hey all,
My boss has a problem on his Moto Droid. In the text messaging app when he goes to compose a new message, and then type the name of the person he wants to send to. After the 3rd letter, when it goes to search for all the users, it crashes. It only crashes on certain users that are typed in.
When I use Handcent SMS, it does not crash at all. He does not seem to like Handcent SMS and still wants to use the stock messaging app.
This phone has not been modded or rooted or anything like that. I have tried rebooting the phone and doing a battery pull. A wipe would be the worst case scenario.
Any other suggestions would be great.
Ok, here is the deal bitaches =):
We seen Darky (ROM maker) implement GOSMS in his ROM. It's really good application. You can quick reply and all of other sorts of stuff that stupid stock SMS can't do.
Problem that I examined A LOT is the followoing:
Firstly, you shut down all kinds of notifications of stock SMS app. That goes well. So you don't get two SMS alerts.
But one thing stays and it's ANNYOING. Herei is screenshot: http://img249.imageshack.us/img249/3637/screenshotjm.png
Even if you read SMS with GO SMS this icon is still on main menu and it shows up SMS number that DOESEN'T EVEN EXIST. I mean, if you even delete SMS from GOSMS it's still there... it's ridicilous.
I tried to delete stock SMS app but then GO SMS lags (and every other SMS app that I tried, like 4 of them) and sometimes notification doesen't even pop up.
If I freeze stock SMS app that's like I deleted it so same ignorant stuff is happening. It's like magic circle you can't solve.
Anyone got solution how to have stock SMS app installed (so everything works properly) but in a way it doesen't pop up stupi number of SMS beside stock SMS icon?
Thanks.
It seems that it's TWLauncher problem. Installing something like GO Launcher fixes it.
Thanks, you can close thread.
Anyone know how to fix Quickpic - when I tap the icon on the home screen it opens up messaging instead of the picture gallery. I tried deleting the icon and replacing it and it does the same thing. I downloaded the latest update from the market and that corrected it for a minute. I closed it and reopened it and it goes back to messaging again.
Are you running a custom rom? try reflashing it if so
Yes I am. Ill reflash and see what I get. Thanks
I'm on a stock Thunderbolt (no root/no flash) using the stock messaging app. When I reboot my phone, any texts that failed to be delivered automatically send. I want to stop this from happening. I looked through the messaging settings and didn't see anything, any ideas?
I am running 2.3.4
I don't believe there is a setting for that. It would only make sense that if it failed to send, you probably want it to try again after a reboot, but one way of stopping it would be to delete the message right after rebooting or before rebooting. I just dont think it is a setting. Sorry.
Has anyone had this happen? I have a stock HTC One X that I have rooted. Everything was fine, but now, starting today, when I create a text message, I click send, and it reloads the thread, but my text does not show up - it's just the same last text showing from before the problem started. When people send me texts, I do not see them, but I do get the notification. I rebooted the phone, and cleared the app cache to no avail.
I tried Handcent, and it works just fine. However, handcent has that funky menu bar at the bottom that I hate, and I get a notification from both Handcent and from the stock messaging app, which is annoying.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much appreciated.
Once I hit about 6000 messages I wasn't able to even load threads. I'm just using GO SMS Pro until there's a stable CM10 release for this phone.
Try going into setting and clearing the apps cache then reboot.
Thank you for the replies - I already cleared the cache. I ended up "fixing it", or rather, the problem went away, when I deleted the threads from my best friend and wife. The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is a thread cap, and I message them a lot? Iunno, but it's working now.
