I'm trying toh change the Tab 4 Launcher on the Gnabo V3 Rom to the Stock 4.4 launcher.
I extracted the Launcher (Seclauncher2.apk) from stock rom "N8000XXUDNE4_N8000OXADNE4_DBT" then copied it to the "priv-app" folder, set the permissions for rw-r--r-- and finaly deleted the Seclauncher3.apk.
But when I restarted the tablet, the system crash and restarted, staying in loop.
I tried many things to change that damn launcher, but without success :crying:
Someone can help me with this ?

Hi!
I want to mod my SystemUI.apk!! Other Bat-Icon, other Softkeys and so...
I can decombile .... then i can mod the SystemUI.apk and i combile without any Error Message in the APK Manager (5_0)
Then i pull the SystemUI to my tablet and give the right permission
xxx
xxo

Then i Reboot the device.... i see the changes (other bat-icons) but then the System stopps the UI and the Navibar is gone... then she comes again and the System stop it again
The ROM is odex .... is this the reason?
So far I have modified only deodexed ROMs... This is my first odexed ROM....

Bingo!
Roms need to be deodexed to theme them in that way.

Instead of using APK Manager, you can treat SystemUI.apk as a zip archive, extract it on your device, make your changes, re-zip it, change the zip extension to apk, replace your SystemUI.apk with the modded one, and reboot. Don't touch the SystemUI.odex file at all. Leave it. And if anything goes wrong, push your old SystemUI.apk back to the device. This method works (sometimes) on odexed ROMs. Because SystemUI.apk is a system app, it doesn't need to be re-signed or anything; just zipped.

Hey guys!!! The other day i was trying to install some system apps from JellyBread ROM to my stock XWKTI ROM .. Looks like direct installation is not quite the way How can i install such apps from Custom ROM's to my Stock ROM?? I am a noob and just want some selected apps to be installed on my deodexed Stock ROM.

special tnx for help Dr. ketan
Replacing systemui.apk will mess up your phone. You will be in bootloop. The reason is it will reboot automatically even before you set its permission. Since you won't be able to set its permission, you will be in bootloop.
So create a flashable zip instead of replacing apk.

or you copy the apk to system, set its permission and past it then in system/priv-app, or you can use Sysfile Copymaster . Just some more options...

Even it reboot before setting permission there shouldn't be issue. And in worst case there will be no status bar visible. But after reboot there will be no issue to set permission.

I´ve flashed the zip, but there are no new fonts installed. Using lolipop on N9005. (The zip flashed correctly). Your apk has 200kb and his has 16mb. You have made a mistake.

I am using dr.ketan's L15 rom which is based on leaked lollipop rom for n900
Steps i do is:
1- flash your zip in TWRP then i got bootloop
2-replaced samsungsans.apk with stock one in order to get back from bootloop (permission changed accordingly) again bootloop
3- replaced samsungsans.apk with yours and changed permissions and the same result again...
Oooooooooo i think i found the problem just now, i found out that the rom is odexed so in system/app/sasmungsans folder there is another folder called arm in which there is samsungsans.odex.xz, so in this case i have to remove whole samsungsans folder in system/app cooy paste your apk and aet correct permissions... i will give it a try and will report.

Hi, I'm running a stock ROM rooted and everyhings works like a charm but I've a problem.....I can't change default apps, ie, if I try to replace the stock radio for another one (modded) :
1 I backup the original file (system/app/MTCRadio4/MTCRadio4.apk
2 I copy the modded one to the folder (system/app/MTCRadio4/)
3 Change permissions to rw-r-r (644)
But...when I reboot the unit I can't see the app...I've tried to replace the Radio, the MTCTravel4.apk.....
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.
Solved !!1 I forgot to delete the original one.........
