Cant replace apps - MTCD Android Head Units Q&A

Hi, I'm running a stock ROM rooted and everyhings works like a charm but I've a problem.....I can't change default apps, ie, if I try to replace the stock radio for another one (modded) :
1 I backup the original file (system/app/MTCRadio4/MTCRadio4.apk
2 I copy the modded one to the folder (system/app/MTCRadio4/)
3 Change permissions to rw-r-r (644)
But...when I reboot the unit I can't see the app...I've tried to replace the Radio, the MTCTravel4.apk.....
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.

Solved !!1 I forgot to delete the original one.........

Is this a flashable zip?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda premium
no they are not flashable zip.they can be extracted and then can be installed as normal wallpapers or normal apks.only the camera/gallery is a flashable zip
Camera/Gallery -> after flashing, nothing happen on CM10a3. still 4.1 U/I.
i dont know may be it does not work on cm10.if anybody else can confirm that it works or not on any other rom then i will search for another file or remove that file.

Added apks to be replaced. Should work.
here is mine i would like to share if you want, the framework and the system ui is from stock rom, so meaning when you flash this you will lose status bar transparency(back to stock, i happened to like it better as i noticed its faster when dropping down) and some icons reverted to stock also like the ringtone slider when you adjust volume through volume keys/button(no big deal though because again i like the stock icons giving you feel of its originality) before flashing it is recommended to do a backup so just in case you want to revert back just reboot to recovery select backup and restore and select advanced restore, then just select restore system, no need to restore the whole rom :good: enjoy :highfive:

[MOD] [.108] Headset icon when plugged in (Z1C)

Being inspired by this thread on xda : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/themes-apps/mod-headset-icon-plugged-z1-z1s-t2846858
by TheHunk_2 I followed the instructions and replaced my original UnsupportedHeadsetNotifier.apk with the one supplied in the thread but still the icon when plugged in was to big for my liking. I tried to replace the icons inside the actual apk, but the icon was not getting smaller. So I replaced the icons inside the framework.res and I finally got it smaller and in dimensions that fit the other icons in the status bar. I end up with two different versions / sizes of the icons , 36 x 36 and 31 x 29. I personally like the 31 x 29 better.
I attach a zip folder containing :
1) the modded UnsupportedHeadsetNotifier.apk from TheHunk_2's post
2) my modded framework.res with 36 x 36 icon
3) my modded framework.res with 31 x 29 icon
Prerequisites :
Root
Firmware 4.4.4 (.108)
Instructions :
1) Push the modded UnsopportedHeadsetNotifier.apk to system/app with the correct permissions
2) Push the framework.res of your choice to system/framework with the correct permissions
3) Reboot

Strange! 157 views and no comment ? Does it work for anyone ?
Yes, it works for me my friend in root stock ROM 14.4.A.0.108 Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. Also appreciate your help about my mistake not given correct permissions to framework-res.apk and forced phone reloop always.
Just push? No flash?
Last time I push systemui.apk then I got fc.

Push instructions : copy the framework.res from your sd storage or whatever you use to the root/system directory at first. There change the permissions. Then move the file to root/system/framework, and ask yes to overwrite the file, then reboot. The same applies for the unsupportedheadsetnotifier.apk except you move it to root/system/apps.
It has always worked for me like this
Thanks
I got it!!
I was wrong before. I replaced the apk then changed permissions.
That's a big mistake?
It doesn't work in 14.4.Á.0.157 stock ROM. Although I fixed permissions before overwriting the 2 files, Z1c always reloop.

That's because .157 uses most probably a different framework.res. In the first post i state that it works for .108. Very soon I will update to 157 so I will post the new files here
Works flawlessly with .108
Used the 31x29 framework.
Thanks for the sharing the better style of copying files into system.

I am using dr.ketan's L15 rom which is based on leaked lollipop rom for n900
Steps i do is:
1- flash your zip in TWRP then i got bootloop
2-replaced samsungsans.apk with stock one in order to get back from bootloop (permission changed accordingly) again bootloop
3- replaced samsungsans.apk with yours and changed permissions and the same result again...
Oooooooooo i think i found the problem just now, i found out that the rom is odexed so in system/app/sasmungsans folder there is another folder called arm in which there is samsungsans.odex.xz, so in this case i have to remove whole samsungsans folder in system/app cooy paste your apk and aet correct permissions... i will give it a try and will report.

[Guide] Change LG emojis with stock android | ROOT needed

Is there any way to change emojis with stock android emojis? Yes, there is!
Download file to SD.
Using file manager on your phone with root (i.e. ES file explorer) go to system/fonts in root folder.
Locate default NotoColorEmoji.ttf and do a back up (you can skip it).
Replace NotoColorEmoji.ttf in system/fonts with the file you have downloaded.
Set permissions to rw-r-r.
Reboot.
Default android emojis: http://d-h.st/uXQL
Default LG emojis: http://d-h.st/O9aw
Tested & works with LG, Xperia keyboard.
Have you tried this on play? Needs root
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.stevenschoen.emojiswitcher
Im more of a "push-it-to-/root/system-kinda" guy, these kind of apps seems a little fishy to me.
Looks like it's a ttf file, perhaps you could try swapping it for another, I'm guessing you'll have to rename it to match the one in your font folder.

Did you renamed the original one? I kept the original one but I added suffix .ttf.original
Also I am using Xperia keyboard as my default but with stock LG keyboard emojis are working.
Incase you need it, here's my original (note that this one is over 11MB whereas stock android was just over 2 MB) http://d-h.st/O9aw
Dont forget to fix the suffix and permissions. I hope this one helps.

Im glad you have fixed it.
I'll click thanks seeing as nobody else has ? we need to encourage as many people to stay with this wonderful device and to develop for it. I'm glad I'm not the only one still posting on here, I'm getting fed up seeing my name on everything ?
You might want to explain how to push it into System/fonts, as some users might not know about adb or did you use a root explorer?
Yup, re-edited OP, now it should be quite clear.
