I've been using a stock P900 for 2 months now. Starting yesterday my system email app is crashing to desktop without the option to send a crash report. I've wiped the cache, wiped all data, and deleted the account, then reinstalled it all and the problem persists.
The IMAP account can be accessed without any trouble via K-9 Mail.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Are you rooted? Did you remove/freeze any app?
No, I'm running wholly stock Korean firmware.

So there are multiple threads on this but I don't see one specific to the Verizon S3.
I recently tried to make the move to a new rom. I have tried both synergy and beans14. On both of them I run into this error and my contacts will not sync with google. I have tried to clear data in contacts and contacts storage with no success. I even tried do a factory reset back to a new rooted stock image using the guide found in section 6 of this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709
From there i did another factory reset, complete cache wipes. I think flashed a recovery and tried installing the Beans14 rom again, and the issue is STILL THERE. I tried Beans because there was some talk that backup assistant could be the root of the issue and i beans does not contain this app...
Any idea what the hell is going on? I
If i revert back to my backup before trying to flash these roms I do not have the issue.

If you go under accounts and sync settings are you sure that you have enabled your google account to automatically sync with your phone?

Yes the phone itself, try going into settings->application manager->running application->contacts then select "clear cache option" if you see contacts storage under running application clear the cache for that as well. If that doesn't work backup your contacts first and then under the two applications I just mentioned select the "clear data" option. If that still doesn't fix your problems try running the fix permissions utility found in ROM manager. Let me know if you need more help

I have tried all this to no avail. I have also tried fixing permissions within recovery
This issue usually shows up when there is an issue with your contacts. Do you have any apps that can affect your contacts? Mr. Number is one that comes to mind that when it is restored to the phone, can cause the error to show.
You can try to back up your contacts to the sd card. Delete your contacts from the phone, and confirm delete from Google. Then after a wipe, if it tries, do not restore from Google, import from the sd card. Before restoring apps, make sure you don't see the error anymore when opening the contact list. Then restore apps. If it happens again, pay special attention to what apps were restored to find any potential trouble makers.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I tried to see if this would be an issue with CleanROM as well. Something went terribly wrong flashing that, and now i have a hard bricked phone. So it will be some days before I can even see if this works...
Hello all,
I'm trying to move all my apps and accounts to my new Samsung S3 from a Google Nexus.
Using Titanium Backup / Restore I've been unable to get a clean restore that actually restores the accounts (google, activesync linkedin etc.) or without causing some core system issues (due to incompatiable system files / apps), requiring a reflash.
The Nexus is running Cyanogen and the S3 is stock and both are rooted.
Due to ROM differences I believe that backing up (and restoring) system data is probably out of the question ?
Can somebody advise the best method for getting accounts from my Nexus to the S3 as I have around 16 (google, activesync etc.) and ideally need to automate this process.
Or is manual re-entry the only way to go ?
Many thanks,
Nic
System apps is definitely a no go. Most of your accts should be backed up by Google. I know there is a way to restore parts from a nandroid using twrp recovery but can't really advise as I've never done it. Good luck

I wished they were! Once I'd got the master / market account setup it only pulled down the apps, no accounts ?
Thanks for responding.
hey all,
having a strange problem for the past month or so (on both slimbean and beanstalk; several builds of both). my gmail client and contacts sync fine when the ROM is first installed. but after the first reboot gmail no longer syncs (i dont get notified of new emails etc.) i have tried resetting permissions in CWM, that does not help. if i go into the sync settings, under google it always says something like, "sync is not available at the moment". anyone else have this problem? i'm on Rogers fwiw
Same issue here running beanstalk. Open my mail and it says "waiting for sync". I have 2 gmails setup...so to workaround I switch to the other gmail acct then back and then it syncs.

here is what i might try:
1. in Settings. Apps. google frameworks: wipe cache, wipe data, force stop. gmail: same..wipe. calendar: wipe ...etc
or
2. in cwm: factory reset. wipe cache; adv: wipe dalvik. mount: wipe system, data, cache. reflash rom and gapps. do not restore after boot up. download new apps
I have tried these options and while they work, the fix is temporary and the problem returns. I am on the 4/17 build of slimbean now, with a full wipe and so far no problems. Will report back in a while.

ok, so the problem has returned and i think i have found what is causing it. after a clean ROM install, gmail syncs fine until i open up the stock browser for the first time (the one with the blue globe). after the browser signs into my google account, gmail no longer syncs or retrieves emails unless i press the refresh button in the program (this only makes gmail display new emails though, doesn't fully sync). at this point, if i go under google account settings, it says sync is off for my google account and there is an exclamation mark next to "Browser". If i try to sync the browser i get "Sync is currently experiencing problems. it will be back shortly".
Any ideas? thinking I will just erase google account data, re add my account then ditch this browser and use chrome (without opening stock browser) until i can figure this problem out.
I've seen this posted a few times. Tried the removing of fb, deleting data of contacts, contacts storage. Install my ROM clean.
For me it starts immediately after a restore from titanium. The restore is an app only restore, no data - and I don't restore fb or fb messenger. And I am not installing fb or fb messenger and the error keeps occurring. Also I am NOT restoring any system apps or data. Just user apps.
So my question is - is there ANY way to find out which of my restored user apps is causing the error message?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have more than 300 user apps and really don't want tontest 1 by 1.

I've tried that. Tried all the steps. EVERY time I end up having to reflash ROM, and it can be stable for 1-2 days - then itnreturns, and back at square one. And the clearing of cache just does not solve the problem. I am at a complete loss and getting extremely frustrated.
