When I would plug my old phone into my computer I could get my phone to appear as a removable drive. With the MAXX I plug it in and I get the install wizard and easy tether works.
No removable drive for file transfer.
What gives?

The CDROM thing auto launches, but the phone storage loads too in My Computer for me. Being on Windows 8, I get a prompt on how I want both to launch.
I may need a new OS! My personal computer is still on XP!

Do you have Motorola Device Manager installed currently? If so, do you have the most recent version (2.4.3)? That is probably what is needing to be installed
I thought I had the latest drivers. I will start with that.

I get an error when loading the software. That is why it hasn't worked like normal.
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Did you edit out the getvar line?
Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk 2
Did you uninstall the old version before upgrading to the new version?
I did uninstall old drivers.
Getvar... Have to admit, I am clueless there.
This is required on a stock never rooted phone?
Sent from my XT1080 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
What error do you get when loading the software?
I will have to run it again. It is something the the effect of the software encountered an error during install and will not work.

That sounds Windows related to me. Win XP, Vista, 7 or 8?
There is a line in the download that has "getvar" in it that has to be deleted.

I have a xp netbook and desktop, and a Windows 7 laptop. Didn't have any issues or have to delete this getvar thing you speak of. I also didn't have to uninstall any previous versions of motorola device manager. When I installed the full app , it came up as an update.
I did notice once I had to switch the settings on my phone. Something about the media transfer protocol set as a camera.

Made this today while being sick in bed.... Use root explorer and rename SamsungIME.apk to SamsungIME.apk.bak, and copy new one and fix permissions to rw-r-r

I would love to use this but I am having an issue somewhere. I've tried downloading on my Mac, Safari, Chrome and on device. Renamed it exactly to SamsungIME.apk placed in system/app and set permissions rw/r/r and on reboot the Samsung keyboard is just gone completely. Any advice? Something simple I'm missing I'm sure.

Great! Thinking 7 zip messed up?? Changed OP to reflect the new one.
Started having an issue with dirty unicorns so I went to wipe in recovery and I tried installing a new rom and it failed. Next time I tried wipe it says unable to mount /system. Tried mounting sdcard0 and same issue, unable to mount /sdcard0. Haven't hooked up to PC yet at work all day. Any ideas? Will upload logs after work. Any help would be great using backup phone that's half busted. Thanks!!!

You might have to Odin flash the stock firmware. Sdcard0 is the internal sdcard. It might be hardware failure. I'd flash the stock firmware and see if you still have the problem

I have a 32 GB version Nexus 5, but now I see this in the memory section of the settings:
I run Slimkat+ Code Blue kernel... what is happened?

Covered million times. Even in some of the sticky threads. Please use search
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
You mean the fact that 32 GB isn't really 32 GB but something like 29 GB?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
No. I mean a 32 GB version showing as a 16 GB version
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I find it... so I have to do a factory reset to solve this?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If I full wipe the smartphone and then I restore the nandroid backup of the Slimkat (a nandroid of how I am at the moment) it will work?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Possibly.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ok, let's try.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
It doesn't work..
How can I do?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok, I'm going to use the second method. (Second post of the thread "how to flash the factory image"in the sticky roll-up)
Just a question: flashing the factory image will delete my nandroid backup, right?
If yes, I can save a copy of the backup in my pc and paste it in the device after flashing the factory image and restore it?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
The factory reset would also have deleted your nandroid if you'd done it from stock recovery like the thread says.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
In fact I see this after the factory reset with TWRP, anyway I can do what I said in the last post?
To flash the recovery stock I simply use the command fastboot flash like I was flashing the factory images or I have to do anything else?

Flashing the factory image will wipe your device if you use the flash-all bat. Copy your nandroid to your pc. You can copy it back after you re-flash install your recovery

Assuming the reprovision didn't work and you can confirm its not the SIM card damaged.. You could always flash a different radio in recovery or return to stock 4.4.4 via factory image to verify its not the software it'll also flash the latest stock radio.
Unfortunately my pc doesn't work, so I can't do nothing for now, there are other things that I can try?

Flash the factory image in fastboot and see if that solves the problem. If it doesn't it could be a hardware issue.

Install Philz Touch. Wipe all partitions and flash vomer's stock 4.4.4 rom via recovery. This should be enough in most cases to rule out a software issue. But I agree, fastboot cleaning has solved my problems which recovery wipes couldn't!
