[Q] need to change the wat to power phone off - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i am having an issue when my phone is in my pocket it turns itself off it only happens in pants pocket so i think it is just pushing the buttons randomly and turning off so i was wondering if there is a way to change the power off to be after the lockscreen sorry if this is a very noob question but when i searched i couldn't find anything about it
thanx in advance
rojell

Try a pin or patter lock. It should prevent your leg pressing the shut down option.

thanx for the reply
i do use a pattern on the lockscreen but i don't even need to unlock to power it off which i find kind of strange

Ah it's been a while since I used stock. I forgot the global power menu was still accessible.
Xposed modules such as gravity box can change the options in power menu. If you're rooted and not using ART, maybe that will help

ok thanx rootsu i am in the process of getting everything ready to root so ill just wait till i have that done
so will this not happen with most roms when rooted or is it just certain ones
thanx for the info

Can't answer for that.
I use gravity box with Xposed

ok cool thanx rootsu ill do a little more research on this
but ill keep gravity box and xposed in mind once rooted
again thanx for the info

The power options still work even if pattern or pin is enabled. I can power off the phone without unlocking it. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

Maybe a 3rd party lock screen can block it.

[SOLVED][HELP] Safe Mode! How to get out?!

I just re-flashed Cyanogenmod 7.2 and changed the stock font to Roboto using fontchanger app. I rebooted the phone and now I get a small "Safe Mode" thing written at the bottom left of the screen. It's even their on the lockscreen!
I rebooted many times + Wipe Cache + Data. Possibly everything but still not going. Should I reflash again?

That button is because of the theme, its just the lancherpro home icon thats normally on the app drawer, but in a different style.
@ak700 I didn't even know there is a safe mode ? Saw the safe mode before on the xperia x10 but never on our phone... On that phone you just had to push a button combo.
I know I was totally freaked out! Till now I thought that safe mode was only in Windows
ah ok thanks wiggierip for clearing that up, also, what the deuce is safe mode??

What the WHAT ? I don't really know what it should be... I read somewhere once that people used it to bypass the pattern unlock on some phone's Don't know if that worked out for them though
Try to do this

I can't remember how I got our of safe mode b4 while on cm7 on my g3, but I think I reflashed.
Cheers

Softkeys in landscape don't show up.

I enabled the on screen softkeys with the build prop tweak:
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
and they work fine in portrait mode, but in landscape they simply don't show up.

Any suggestions? I'm on SuperLiteROM (SafeStrap) but it was doing the same thing on stock 4.4.2 (NE1).
I ran the soft keys myself for a while and I'm almost sure landscape isn't available with that option. I'll edit my build prop and see if it works on my end
Edit: installed it and it looks fine in regular mode but this is all I get in landscape and I'm on an unlocked bootloader

You could try GMD auto hide soft keys app from app store. You should able to resize the height, hide or unhide with a tab or swipe and transparency. You just need root. Btw you also could use enable soft key app to turn on or off without the need of editing the build.props file, much easier, basically its doing the same.

To add to your comment, editing the build.prop file really isn't all that hard.

i want the stock without rooting my phone..
Without root I don't think it's possible but you can use apps like power toggles, or if you root you can do this using gravity box without needing any costume roms

theres no way to do it on stock without root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
This app requires root for functions like reboot and wireless adb but not for torch.

If you don't want root or custom ROM, just wait for Android L. Its integrated.

Did you change anything in the build prop? Like from user to debug? Or try And activate multi window?

I did change something in the build.prop. I'll change it back and see if that works. Thanks!
Edit: I swapped the original build.prop back and still no luck getting rid of the debug buttons

If it acts like multi window does after switching build prop back android retains the multi window functionality. I bet if ya dirty flash the rom again it may make it go away

Use titanium and remove camera app then reinstall from play store. Just a last ditch idea.

Thanks for the response. I thought that had worked but no luck. I guess I'll just have to deal with it...
Edit: I figured it out! I had Switch Access turned on in the Accessibility settings. Turning it off solved the problem. Thanks again for the responses!

Good Debloater and Volume Hack?

I just rooted my phone using the Freeza method (Thumbs up). The rom unfortunately comes with 2 gazillion apps on it.
Does anyone know a good mod or program or zip to get many of them off? It is a lot of clutter. Also, anyone know of any volume hack zips or mods or Wanam Kit for Marsmallow?

You know, when I googled those last 2 things; "music mods XDA" and "wanam Xposed XDA".. there was like a gazillion results (well actually 200k+ and 19k+ but there probably isn't actually a gazillion apps on the rooted firmware either lol)
