Is there any xposed module to enable charging led? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I didn't find any post about this so lets go...
I'm used to se a red charging led while the phone is charging <90% and green led when >90%, I know lightflow does this but i want to know if any xposed module can do this.
Thank you in advance mates.

Light flow is a great app....why not just use it? I've never had an issue with it personally, or any undo battery drain.
Anyway....all you have to do is look through the modules available in xposed installer app and see if there's one.

Ok.Thanks for the reply.
But I read here ,
Advantages over other apps that don't use Xposed:
Lower memory usage, no services running in background.
Almost no battery life used, since it doesn't use a Service, the module only turns on the LED and Android handles the rest.

The tradeoff seems to be that Xposed integrates it as "part of the ROM" in a way, which is why it has the lower memory usage and doesn't use a service, whereas an App provides more customization i.e. LED flash on/off durations, show alternating colours for multiple notifications, but it uses a minor wakelock to start it and to end it (wakes the device for a small amount of time ONLY when it changes colours in alternation or starts/stops the LED, does not wake the device in the duration of the LED) rather than letting Android deal with it. In the end it's up to you.
The difference is almost nothing, 1-5% of your entire battery at most unless you leave an LED alternating on the entire night off the charger.

Lightflow makes the charging battery led fluctuating or pulsating, there's no "always on" option, thats why I don't use it. Thank for your answers mates!

another way to save battery..and your eyes too

i downloaded this apps name
screen filter
it will reduce the brightness of your screen that is far more better than the android brightness..just dont set the brightness to 0 because it will turn your brightness off
thanks
will try it
works especially well with the "darkness" script at night, as mentioned in This Thread Thanks to Adolf1994 my LED will not blind me at night any more! (script only for rooted 2.1 and above)
how does the app work? and how much battery can it save, for example, a day?
Just what I wanted for day-to-day use.
I prefer renderFX's "night mode" for eye-saving, but this is good for battery-saving. My display is set at 0% and still is the most battery-hungry thing on my phone...
thanks
you reminded me that there's such a app
very useful

WORD OF CAUTION!!!!!
DO NOT LEAVE THIS APP ON WHILE YOUR PHONE SLEEPS!!!
I haven't determined that this is the culprit, but last night I went from ~80% to ~25%, all the while having WI-FI off (I have 3G off always anyway), closed most programs, and had a screen filter on 30%.
I think the filter prevented the phone from fully sleeping or something....
Just some caution, please try it and report back.
I haven't experienced that and I've been using it for 5days..anyway in order to track the culprit, install an APk named process watch dog.

Actually, it will not save battery, if not drain it faster.
Here's why:
What this app is doing is applying a transparent dark filter over the screen,
so that you can look at it in a dark enviroment and not hurt your eyes from the brightness.
BUT the screen itself uses exactly the same power to light, but you don't see it, because the filter is there.
For example: if you set your brightness to FULL and then apply the filter and make it really dark, the battery drain will be the same as if you didn't apply the filter.
That's the way TFT screens work.
Now, this filter is running constantly, so it's a CPU stresser, thus battery drainer.
That being said, I love the app and I always have it on while I'm in the movies,
but I don't recommend it for daily use 24/7.
Thanks in the darkness it's just the best app

I use it every night and I don't think it drains battery noticeably. 1% per hour maybe?

Depending in your personal phone usage, it might not be a battery drainer, but, as I explained above, it's not a saver either.

app suggestion .. using back and menu buttons as noticication LED

coming from htc legend and xperia mini, the led notification lights was an important feature, now i really miss it in the note, and using noled app is not the same as having actual led lights.
so i was thinking if there is a possibility to use the menu and back buttons lights as notification light ? i found that they are separate from the screen light .. so can this be done by an app or a custom rom or it can't be done ?
This idea has already been implemented for many Samsung devices. Just find a custom kernel with "BLN" Support (BackLightNotification) and then download the app (info HERE) and away you go.
Hope that helps mate

check bLED
after i posted this i found out about bLED and bln kernel (i didn't know what bln means) thanks for your help
There is also noLED. Not one i use but you might aswell know all the options
I've read that they all hurt battery life
i tried noLED but i didn't like it
i know that bln might drain the battery faster but it's important for me, and maybe with further development some of the current problems might be fixed
NoLed is good, doesn't require root and only uses about 3% battery when enabled (and nothing if you switch it off). You can also customize the settings for additional power saving and I managed to get it down to 1% by setting the notification to flash on and off.
My only issue with NoLed is that from time to time it gives me the sleep of death. Disable it And my issues go away - haven't had time to test whether or not SoD is down to the power saving settings.

Change LED notification color?

I know its possible with apps but was wondering if its possible with the stock software?? If not, what ap are you guys using for this function? TIA
I use Lightflow.
I use lightFlow as well and its not possible in the stock software AFAIK.

The LED in the phone supports RGB so you should be able to get a moderately wide color spread. Each different notification in my phone has a different color and blink rate specified by lightflow so I cant really go into detail there. The only thing I have yet to figure out with it is how to dim the LED as its really bright, and while I want a charging indicator, at night its hard to sleep with the bright orange on my phone.

Now it seems my notification LED is going off for no reason; there are no notifications currently showing besides juice defender and smart actions neither of which have an LED function tied to them; does this ever happen to you guys?

Ya, I've had phantom notification issues before. Before I got the settings right for my 3rd party SMS app (Handcent) I had a few issues where the notifications weren't clearing. The other thing you might check is that gmail will try and notify even if your using something else to mark the message as read, (ie: using gmail on a different computer and reading the message will make it disappear from the status bar on your phone cause to the mailing client the message has been read, but the lightflow notification requires you to open the app that's triggering the notification to clear the lightflow notification.) Other than that I'd try changing the color of different apps and seeing if the LED changes with it and try to pin down the app that is causing the random light.
Let me know if that helps,
CMNDR
Hi:
The best feature of lightflow is the ability to turn all the notification lights off at night, from any hour yo choose to any hour in the morning.
Tom
Those of you using light flow, what settings are you using? And are you rooted? What build are you on. I had never even noticed the pho had a notification light until I had had it for a while and I saw the low battery light one day, until then I had never noticed it lit.. I'm currently rooted only, have not unlocked the boot loader. On build 125-asa-10.
I first thought light flow was not working but have come to notice it is, its just extremely dim to the point you almost can't see it even in a dark room. Anyone else have this issue or know what I'm doing wrong?

I never noticed it being excessively dim per se, but when I first installed the ap at the office under flourescent lighting the lights seemed weak and not to match the colors I had selected. Once I decided to choose only a few notifications and with stick main standard colors (red, yellow, green, blue, orange, cyan) I noticed it was doing a good job of notifying me and the colors were unique and visible in all light conditions. For emails I have a long delay, for texts I have a medium delay, for missed calls I have a short delay, for missed calls messages or mms or voicemail from wife I have an extra short delay.
The only gripe I would say I have with lightflow is that it seems to stop notifying if not used for a while. Sort of like it's being dumped out of memory and needs to be restarted.

I'm trying to figure out if I have a hardware issue but im starting to doubt that too. I really don't want to do a factory reset but it may come to that. when the battery is low ~5% the led will blink bright red when unplugging, and bright blue when plugging in so it seems like its capable of going bright. driving me nuts that its not bright enough to see during normal operation.

[Q] LED Doesn't blink when it should

Normally (and on my Galaxy Nexus), I would receive something that would blink the LED, lets say a text.
I would get the LED light blinking (phone's screen is off the whole time) and it would continue to blink until I interacted with the app in some way.
Now on the Nexus 5, I rarely get the LED light blinking at all, even if the screen has never been turned on since what generates the notification.
Does anyone have any clue what might be causing this or if it's just a trait on 4.4 or the Nexus 5 specifically?
The stock LED notification isn't that great. Download an SMS app like Handscent that has a bunch of options for LED notifications.

if you don't like it download lightflow or something similar. Hangouts is not my personal favorite but I use textra for text and it pulses every time i received a message.
I wouldn't say it's not all that great but I did see an improvement with the LED after flashing a custom ROM. In a way I'm happy it's not as intrusive as it could be. Things like lightflow help for customizing other apps to work with your LED but this a huge battery drain. Mines work for texts and other things I need so I'm good without lightflow. Of course this is my user experience which may not be suitable for the next guy.

I have the same issue with (AOKP) and without a custom rom.
Lightflow isn't really an option.
Right now (as I type this), I just got the buzz that I have recieved a text message. I have no light blinking at all.
I was annoyed with this as well and the apps available for LED control were a battery drain as mentioned. I just clashed CM11 on my device and the built-in LED control options are exactly what I wanted. You can change nearly every app's LED color, pulse speed - everything. Custom Color value's - the best way to go!

I don't understand. how is this rubbish? Anything that runs in the background that's NOT apart of the system is a battery drain, especially if it needs to stay awake to work. Which all apps do (stay awake to receive synced messages). Regardless if you notice battery drain or not.

Usually flashing custom ROMs can somehow fix certain bugs. Which is what I subliminally stated in my first post.

Right, and I was just agreeing. Some people don't understand subliminal messages. Using 3rd party apps for something like LED control isn't preferred for me. Native customization is always top of the list.
Lightflow isn't an option for me period. I have apps like K9 mail where each account has a different color.
I need to figure out why the LED isn't working normally.
After seeing it work correctly on my custom setup, more than likely its a minor bug in the stock ROM. Same thing happened to me awhile back on the Evo. Had a little issue, installed a new ROM, problem solved.

The fact LF doesn't even show in my battery stats show how much of a non-issue it is. OK, some might have issues but from my (extensive) experience it's never proven an issue. Each to their own, and yes I agree Google should implement some sort of OEM solution

With all do respect I don't want to turn this into a cat fight but if your knowledge was extensive as you say, which I don't doubt you have any, you would know even if you use a widget from the Play Store and use it on your home screen it will not show in battery stats as "X" Widget. It will show as Display or "Screen On Time". So don't think your screen on time only means the physical time you have your screen on while using your phone. It can be any background app that doesn't sleep. Light Flow which is not a system app has to stay awake in order to do is job. So instead of looking for apps to pop up in battery stats to conclude if app in question is draining battery or not, maybe you should pay more attention to your SOT or Deep Sleep Time.

I have been. My SOT is usually over 4 hours, give or take 10 minutes, and deep sleep is pretty much the same going on the last time I used BBS (which isn't often as I don't have battery issues). This is with the app running the same amount of time as the phone uptime (at this moment, about 40 hours). All this is on a 100% stock Nexus 5, not even rooted.
I agree this isn't meant to be a cat fight, all I'm saying is that LF is NOT a drain on battery if used correctly. Unless I have a magic phone that isn't affected to the same level as everyone else
You'll also see that I do think Google should implement some sort of LED control as part of Android but, as they don't, LF is a perfect app to do the job instead. This is my opinion and I'm entitled to it but you cannot say an app is a "huge battery drain" as a sweeping statement purely based on your own experience. You should know battery life is subjective and will be different for each user. In my case, LF has no noticeable affect on battery life so I would 100% recommend it to anyone wanting to use it (not the OP in this case )
Hopefully we can agree to disagree in this instance and move forward

??? MOD: Disable red "Battery LOW" LED ???

Hello,
I am frustrated to have no more control over this option. Perhaps I am awaiting too much, but a simple switch to control the Battery Low led -> is that too much for Samsung? I can see the percentage in AOD, so I must not have the LED blink when battery is low.
Did anyone find out how to disable only that message? Truely I can disable all messages (set the complete LED to off) but this I don't want.
Thanks @ all

I would also like to be able to disable this and the charging status led setting. It was available on previous Samsung phones before the s6 series but for some reason they removed the option under led setting and changed the option to either have the led on or off.

Hello,
explecitely this are the things which are not working for me. I wanted to set long press on homebutton, but this does not work. Btw, surely I can confirm that the Battery Low LED is now disabled, but the green "Battery fully charged" LED seems also to be disabled, but for me this is no problem. Perhaps some interferences with my echoe rom V12?
Thanks
