Hi ! I want to buy this phone, where can I buy it the best price...
I live in France

root acces
Are there active users of the HTC One E8 (dual sim) on this forum?
I received mine today but it doesn't have root access so I can not use titanium backup. I already tried getting root access using WeakSauce but unfortunately that did't work.
Besides this little problem (that will be fixed) I'm very than happy with the phone!

Brazilian language
I'm thinking in buying a E8 but I got a question to who got one:
Does the E8 have under language settings the Portuguese Brazil (pt-br) option?
Thanks in advance!

My China version only Chinese and English

AFAIK, there is no root method for this, except for HTCDEV bootloader unlock.
I did that and then flashed SuperSu. I got root.
But i am still having other issues and still trying to sort out the kinks...
thanks

Hi All
My friend wants to buy the E8 white version. But in few reviews, it is said that white has silver finish on the front, which does not look so good.
He does not mind the glossiness. Can someone tell me if the white looks good? I havent had a chance to look at it personally.
Does white with silver look odd? Or it looks classy? Please comment

The silver part is just like 1/10 of the front part. To the eye, it even looks whitish unless u pay attention to it only

Ambiguity- HTC one E8 vs Moto X vs Nexus 5
Hey Guys,
I want to buy a phone and am confused between HTC E8 and Nexus 5 and Moto X. Price wise Moto X is similar to HTC E8, however nexus 5 i can get at around 5k lower price than the other two.
I am greatly fascinated by HTC one E8 features and want to buy the phone. Most of my friends who use this says that HTC doesn't upgrade the OS and the best you can have with E8 is Android L. However for google supported phones such issue will not arise. Can you guys help me with your experience with HTC phones and how important is the OS upgrade.

Wow, you're lucky! Moto X is not available where I live, and the Nexus 5 costs as much as the E8...
All of the devices you mention will run any apps just fine, so the difference lies in the UI. Do you prefer Android L to Sense? If you do, get the X or N5. I like Sense a lot and even think it looks better than L in some regards. My experience with this phone has been quite pleasant, apart from the sound...
I think E8 is similar enough to M8, so maybe it'll get the same treatment as M8 regarding OTA updates. That said, I've only received one OTA update, and haven't got the Eye Experience OTA yet. Someone from my country has ported some ROMs from the M8 to E8, but hasn't released them. I hope that we'll get ported ROMs soon. I won't use them anyway, but other users may benefit from them.

Jiayu G2 - Dual SIM, 1GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, 4.0-inch IPS screen, ICS

Hi! I just ordered the Chinese smartphone Jiayu G2 from an online store. It is dual SIM, 1 GHZ MT6575 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, 4.0 IPS screen, dual cameras with 8.0 megapixel rear camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Look at the full specs here: http://www.chinaphonereview.com/jiayu-g2
I bought the phone because it has good specs and the price is only $169.99. I'm still waiting for it to be shipped though. I would like to know your opinions about this phone and if there are people who have tried this phone already. It would be nice to have some type of support for the Jiayu G2 in this forum.
Chinese phone usually aren't supported in this forum just because of the fact that most people here by brand name products. It looks like a great device based on specs. Give us your thoughts when you get it.

who knows, maybe it will be a good phone to start the experience with android, but here in italy you can take with 199 euros the excellent somy xperia u, that's a dual core android phone, that it's supposed to be followed by community.
i think that your won't be supported here, but with android you can do thousands things.
i hope you will enjoy your phone.
Sounds like a killer phone to me.
I always get ripped buying anything shipped from china. If it seems to good to be true..... IT IS.
That said if the phone is any good please let us know

I received this phone from China last week, I am using it to run a business app, all is well, good screen and great to have more memory than on some other phones.
Testing Wifi printing, again no problems, only issue I have is with the Bluetooth and sending large data packets.
Another point I am not using this as a phone so can't comment on that.
But overall I am very impressed with the quality and service provided.

It's good to know that someone had a good experience with it. I was afraid it only looked good on paper. But now I feel confident that I made a right decision by buying it. I will definitely share my thoughts on this phone when I receive mine.
By the way, is your phone's firmware updated? There's an update for Jiayu G2's firmware at their official website www.ejiayu.com dated May 24, 2012. But you need to translate their website from Chinese to English with Google Translate.

Huawei is a more established Chinese brand, so it is much more expensive than the other Chinese phones. But I think Jiayu has a lot of potential reaching the international market because it has its own factory with a research and development department. It also has its own website with support for its products.
phone look nice, but better get a well established phone brand for better after sales service

Hello,
In the about phone tab I have this
Android Version is 4.0.3
Kernel Version : 3.0.13
I just checked the search for updates and it said there was one from 27th June.
When you say firmware is that the same as the kernal version ?

I'm not really sure. I think firmware and kernel are different things. Can someone help us here?
Did you update your phone already? Has your Kernel Version changed?
kernel and firmware are two different thing.
kernel is core component of the operating system (Android) that does the communication with the hardware.

I disagree. Jiayu G2 looks more like Galaxy SII. Meizu M9 costs around $260 from the link that you provided. It's $100 dollars more expensive than Jiayu G2. That's a big difference and Jiayu G2 has much better specs. So Jiayu G2 is clearly worth buying.
I just received my Jiayu G2 today. My initial impression of it is very good. The navigation is very smooth, no lags. The IPS screen is clear even when viewing at angles or at direct sunlight. Tried WiFi connection and it browses the internet fast. The camera is better than I expected it to be. Images captured were clear. The phone is certainly worth it. I'm loving my new phone already.

HTC One S Versions

Hi,
I recently bought (and returned to the store!) a brand new Black HTC One S, the phone was amazing but during a benchmark I noticed something disturbing, My 1S was the C2 version so it has the old S3 chipset with 220 GPU and 1.7GHZ CPU, I jet back to the store and ask them about it just to realize they have no idea that the 1S comes in 2 versions....BTW, I'm from Israel.
After talking to the tech guys at the store they told me they can't tell if the phone is the C2 version or not without installing a hardware info app.
Can anyone tell me please, is there a way to know what version the phone is just from looking at the box or from within the phone menu?
Is there a way to know that from the IMEI # ?
I got full refund and the option to upgrade to the 1X or S3 for that matter but I really can't decide. these phones are not cheap and I want to make the right decision.
One more thing, does anyone know what are the prices for the 1S and the 1X in Germany? I have a friend who's flying there tomorrow and can buy me one there...
Thanks a lot for your help and sorry for the looong post
Rotem.
model number of S4 version is z520e, the model number of S3 version (C2) is z560e.
This number is printed on the box.

Thanks a lot man, I will check it out tomorrow at the store I dealt with .
In case all 1S in Israel are S3 (or C2), Where can I get the S4 version online? Or should I just upgrade to the 1X for like $40 (though I don't really like it)...
Thanks!

As far as I can tell, all Germany (austria, swiss) One S are Z-520e (S4). Just be sure not to buy a branded device like T-Mob.DE, since it's ROM is full of bloatware in germ. language. The Z-560e (S3) version are common mostly in EE (east europe) countries. Just check the bottom of that white paper box for model 520e or 560e.

Let me get it straight, if I can get my hands on an S4 version of the One S I should get it instead of the One X ?
My dilemma is that I believe the One X will get all updates and will be more compatible with future apps and what not while the One S will not, plus I think in the near future all apps will take advantage of quad core cpu's so thats why I'm confused.
It may seem easy to chose but I really like the One S and don't really like the X (its not that bad it just doesn't look as good as the S)...
Anyway, Do you think I'd rather get the S4 instead the 1X ? (considering its $40 difference).
Thanks.

IMO the One S S4 has a better architecture, based on Krait. The process technology is also 28nm, compared to the Tegra 3's 40nm. But there won't be much of a difference during normal use, although S4 has 4G LTE.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Wouldn't trade my S4 ville for a one X or galaxy S3, only pros they have for me is a bit more development but the S4 ville already has some very good devs devving major ROMs like CM9, MIUI and AOKP and some nice Sense Roms like leedroid and trickdroid. Hopefully the C2 will catch up someday, root and custom recoveries as well as the first ROMs are just coming out in the last few weeks.
Germany has S3 as well
I have just bought an S3 by mistake in Switzerland. From what I read online, Germany and Switzerland also have mixed stocks of S3 and S4. I have read that Media Markt (http://www.mediamarkt.de/), a large retailer in Germany, has the S4. Their website mentions a 1.5 Ghz processor; if that's accurate, it's S4.
I'm pretty surprised to read that all of you rather have the S instead of the X...and then again it is the One S Forum so...
After visiting the store I first bought my 1S from It seems all they have is the S3 version and they are offering me (again) the 1X for an extra $40.
Does the 1X Tegra CPU is more powerful then the Krait CPU of the S4 ?
BTW, Is there a special reason you guys bought the One S and not X (beside it being more beautiful and smaller then the X) ? The reason I'm asking is because the X has better hardware (ie Quad Core, 4.7" HD Screen etc).
Thanks!
i am too from israel, and i am too bought 1 s which the store told me its S4 and its S3, so i try to return it and i hope they wont make any trouble.
i will be very sad to have an one S S3 for the same price i could get an S4 from a normal store.
OP: after how many days did you return it to the store and which store?
Bought mine in Mediamarkt Germany and got a S4! My dude bought one at Saturn store and he got a S3, but he don't cares because he doesn't need root and all this. Germany seems to be mixed up but HTC told me that in germany there are only s4(got a screenshot). I don't even get why HTC makes 2 kinds of the S...

I bought it from Eline in Haifa, I returned it after like 6 days maybe.
Look, just print the One S page on their website that state that the CPU is 1.5Ghz then go to the store and tell them this is not true and that you would like to cancel everything or upgrade to something else, the printout is for your backup in a case they will change the website.
Good Luck

I don't know what to do next, ether get full refund or go with the 1X...To be honest (with myself LOL) I don't really have a device that I want, I just want to upgrade my Desire.
I wonder if HTC has a new flagship up their sleeve (maybe one with removable battery and a SD Card slot)....
payed 2760, but now all the prices begins to drop.
i asked few other stores and they got the real S4 version. so you should just take refund and buy S4 from another store

Yeah, the price now is around 2450 but no one can tell me for sure if they have the S4 or not...I think I will wait a little longer and maybe get the One X instead. I saw the white version and it looks pretty good, not close to the One S but still ok.
The one X got the 4.0.4 update and it is working a lot better now so...

[Q] Buy Moto X in US from Europe

Hi everybody,
I'm waiting for the Moto X to be released, i really cannot wait these 2 more days ;D
So I am preparing myself to buy the Moto X in the US, with a Proxy and a myUS.com Adress to ship it to Switzerland.
I got a few questions, i hope specially the Europe citiziens may help me out.
It's clear that I need to get the "GSM"-Version, that supports UMTS/HSDPA/LTE.
It's clear that I need to get an unlocked device (of course)
I don't really care about the language, but is it possible to change it to a stock firmware that supports German (maybe in the future) ?
What else do I have to take care of if I buy a phone in the US I want to use in Europe?
Thanks for your answers
with cm roms u probably can. im waiting for moto x myself. finally gsm phone with amoled that isnt a europe excusive like moto razr with android.

HTC One Mini + Mini 2 petition

Hey there guys,
My name is DarkExistence as you can tell
I have made a petition to update the HTC One Mini and the One Mini 2 to Android Lollipop.
I did this because I felt it was unfair for us users to buy a phone and for support to be dropped for it when it has just been out for a year.
I also feel HTC are doing this because they want us to buy a different phone in an effort for them too make more money as their company profits are falling.
I have asked HTC multiple times on twitter and email about why they cant upgrade the HTC One Mini 2 and why can they not upgrade the HTC One Mini 2 if the Motorola Moto G 2014 and Moto E are getting the updates with the same and Lesser specs even. I get the same reply back saying 'It would not provide a optimal experience' and i get no reply when I mention Motorola phones getting updated.
I know that Motorola doesn't have much of a skin, but lets face it, HTC Sense 6 is a very light skin, and it is basically the same in Android 5.0 on the One M8 with the only things different being the Animations. Its not like we are asking for an update to Sense 7.
I hope ye sign this petition and hopefully we can get this updated together!
Thanks for reading! Link will be below!

Link: http://www.petitions24.com/update_htc_one_mini_2_to_android_lollipop
P.S. This forum was originally placed on the HTC One Mini 2 thread as that is the phone I have but I now feel it is unfair on the owners of the One Mini as well due to the original moto g and moto e getting the update now.

HTC Never again!
Samsung ? Plastic crap, no thanks.
Sony/Ericsson ? Hahaha, hell no!
LG ? Nope!
What the hell am I going to buy once my Mini dies ?
lg nexus 5 2015? if it'S without the sd 810. 5 inch seems to be the new "mini" anyway =/
edit: the days that samsung is plastic crap are over though! s6 active would be my favorite if it'd come to europe.
Another thing that boggles me with Samsung is their crappy programing, bloatware and flashing ROM protection that voids your warranty.

I will also sign it although I don't belive htc will give in.
Sadly HTC dosen't give a sh.... If you want lolipop OR marshmallow buy new model(even thou the new model has the +/- same specs) but NO! In HTC's mind mini's arn't compatible for lolipop yeah right..... Sadly but i will say goodbye to HTC because of this stunt, my next phone will be something other that keeps their promises not like HTC only promises 'gold mountains' for better ads!

[Q] M8 or...

Hey everybody i have a really tough decision here. I'm currently the owner of a verizon s5 (worst phone i have ever had). i still have the htc m7 unlocked and s-off. I love the phone but the screen is a tad to small for me now and the battery is horrible since it's pretty old. I'm in the market for a new phone and i don't want the m9 or the s6, My current choices that I'm thinking of is the Moto x (2014) or the m8 used. I like the thought that i can unlock the m8 and install custom rom but the moto x has near stock android. I can get the m8 in mint condition used for around the same price as the moto x brand new. Can anyone help me here? this is probably the hardest phone decision i have had to make.
I purchased an HTC M8 on swappa and I do love the phone. But, it had already been updated to lollipop so I very limited on rooting it as the sunshine app has not 'Yet' been updated to work with the Verizon M8 on lollipop so I have to wait for it to be updated. Or you can find someone with a java card so you don't have to wait for Sunshine to be updated to work on the Verizon M8.
I'm trying to wait for the sunshine app to be updated and until then, I am running the Nova launcher, Adblockplus which works on WiFi and the Adblockplus browser for when I'm not on WiFi, greenify has some limited functionality without root and there are a few other options to help for now.
The Moto X is a nice phone as well, but you would need to get a developer edition if you want to root it on Verizon.

I plan on doing the same thing you have done with the m8 (buy on swappa). but i have messaged a person about what android version is currently on it and he replied it has 4.4.4. so i can use the sunshine on that to unlock and s-off right?. as for the developer edition i don't think they have one for verizon. I am talking about the latest 2014 generation of the moto x.
Yeah the sunshine app should work on the Verizon M8 running 4.4.4, but double check the xda thread to be sure as it's been a while since I read through it.
On Verizon Moto devices sunshine only works through version 4.4.3 on most of them. On The Moto X, I know the 2013 first generation had a dev edition but they may have done away with it for the 2014 second generation.
The HTC One M8 I got in swappa was like new for less than most of the beat up ones so I couldn't pass it up even though it was running lollipop. The really good ones at great prices go fast, so if you find one don't wait too long.

Ok thank you for replying. So you think the m8 is a better choice? right know i'm leaning more towards the m8 there actually about the same price (moto x new and m8 used in mint condition). but the m8 will have custom rom capability so it will get android updates faster than the moto on a carrier network (i think). but on the build quality i think that m8 is superior on this one although not much different than the moto x. Are you liking your m8 so far even though you are dealing with htc sense, any regrets? Thanks!
I love Moto devices, most of my phones have been Moto, but with Verizon locking everything down I decided to move on to HTC, first the M7 which I really liked and now the M8. If I could afford a Nexus 6 or were on a different network I would probably try Moto again but for now since I am on Verizon I plan on sticking with the M8, it's a great device, the physical appearance and style, I love the build quality, the front facing speakers and the developer support.
I plan on trying the Google project ARA modular phone when it's finally released, but will be keeping my M8.
