Is there any way to disable the vibration the nexus 5 makes when you first plug it into a charger? My phone keeps vibrating when I plug it into my a/c adapter for my car because it keeps switching between charging on USB and AC and it's annoying. I've tried looking through all sound settings and googling and I can't find anything. I can't tell if I'm getting a notification or if my phone is wanting to charge. Thanks in advance!

I think that's a feature in your Rom.

Sounds like a custom ROM thing to be honest as the stock ROM doesn't do anything upon plugging a charger in unless you use an Xposed module.
Well shoot. I never thought about that. Its been a long time since I've been on stock so I couldn't remember. Im using mahdi-rom right now. I guess I'll head over to that thread and see if there's anything I can find. Thanks guys!

I've broken my micro usb connector twice. Never had this issue with another phone. Anyone else have this problem? I guess I'm going to have to limit the number of connections after getting my phone fixed this time. I wish I could get a more robust port. Shouldn't this be a standard part across phones since pretty much every phone has the same port? Or am I wrong? Just curious if a company makes a more robust port that can be retrofitted to this phone?
Thanks everyone...
Uh, I've never had a problem and I take my card out quite frequently. How are you removing your SD card?

I connect my ac adapter several times per day. At least once in the morning, twice in the car, and once at work. Connecting and disconnecting the micro-usb cable seems to somehow break the connection so that the port stops charging. It doesn't seem to be a case of the port being loosened. The connection is still tight and fits properly. It must be something inside the port that is breaking. Eventually I have to jiggle the cable to get it to connect properly. Then eventually the connection is broken and cannot connect to charge the phone. At first I thought it might be because I was using Belkin cables or connecting the phone to the Samsung desktop dock station. However after the port broke once, I then only used Verizon cables and stopped using the dock station. It broke again. I've seen others reporting the same issue. I don't know how widespread the problem is with the phone. It's frustrating because I would probably keep the phone past two years were it not for this problem.
Mines broken too as of recently too. It will charge off and on all the time. Sometimes I wake up charged, sometimes dead. Rofl

D'oh! I could've sworn this said SD card and not USB port. My bad.
I've never had a problem with my port and I charge every night. I actually keep switching out batteries so I really don't have to stay on a charger. Dunno what to tell ya. Maybe you're too manly and rough?

The connection in mine is pretty hit or miss. I have to clean pocket lint out of it once in a while. That helps for a while. But even with that it doesn't seem to click into place like it used to. I put mine in the car dock every time I go somewhere and I'm always plugging it in to charge since I use my battery up too fast.
I have yet to break the port on my device, but I gave gone through several third party chargers which all broke.

Charge Not Charging!!
Wow I had no intentions what-so-ever to post about this micro usb connector issue that I have also been having until I came across the thread title. I would have just kept thinking it was my own fault for man-handling it or something. I have gone through several micro usb charging adapters for my non-charging droid charge. What a giant annoyance. I find if you press the cord into the port to charge and hold it at the right angle...for several hours straight...it will maybe work. Sometimes. In all seriousness though I found that the extremely short samsung adapter cord that the phone came with does the best job. Tried cleaning out the inside of the port too with small toothpick and it didnt even seem to have any gunk build up in there. I brought it to Best Buy and they said if I wanted to try soldering the tiny connector inside the port more securely to the motherboard in the phone...it might help...
I would happily keep my droid charge for a while longer if I could resolve this issue...even though the thought of upgrading to the Note 2 is pretty enticing...but id rather hold off on dropping 3 bills at the moment.
Does anyone know if Samsung will do anything about this issue if I were to call in about it or send it in to be checked out? Verizon stores apparently dont do any physical repairs.
seems to be a big problem with this phone. my cousin had 2 go bad and i had one so far.
I also had one go bad actually
As long as I keep the pocket lint out of it it's not too bad. But even at that I have to be real careful when it's plugged into my computer. It's liable to lose the connection at the slightest wiggle.

I stay in hotels alot...so I go ask to dig thru their box of lost chargers behind the desk and find a micro USB charger and I use my factory one for Odin flashing...as for the port inside my phone I never had a problem...just the factory cord has gone out on my fascinate and this charge...needs a face down charge with the factory cord or it won't work...lol

Today, I hooked my new S4 into my car's audio for the first time. I noticed that if I have both the audio out and the USB charger plugged in at the same time, I get this buzz in my speakers while no sound is coming from the device.
Now, if the device is playing music or something, the buzz goes away. Pause or something, though, and the buzz comes back. If I unplug the charger, the buzz also goes away.
Anyone else experience this?
Anyone know how to fix it?
Sounds like a ground loop. There are thingies on Amazon you can buy that will reduce it.

i did notice the buzz when i had plugged in my aux cable and my charger. But i think i got rid of it once i tried to plug the aux cable in some more, i had a neo hybrid case on and the aux cable wasnt fitting well unless i pushed it in hard and once i did that i think i got rid of the buzz, havent really paid attention to it after that since the buzz doesnt really bother me cos i usually have music playing through my car speakers if my phone is connected.

Yes. Currently there is no fix that I'm aware of. And yes, it really does suck.
I got this yesterday, worked perfectly!

I have no case, currently, so I can't get the cable in any farther (further?) than it is.
Maybe this ground loop thingie is my answer.
I'm also considering bluetooth for my audio so that I don't even need to worry about a cable.

See my previous post. I just got this ground loop isolator for the exact same problem and it works perfectly.

Doh! Sorry, didn't even notice that those two posts were by the same person.
Would something like this do the trick, you think?

I bought that exact same ground isolator for my car. It reduces the buzz greatly (to acceptable levels) but is still there a little when the volume on the head unit is up pretty high and there is no audio coming from the phone. I never had this issue from my old nexus s. I was a little disapointed, but like I said this dongle makes it acceptable.
Ive scoured the internet trying to find a solution. My USB cord fits really snug in the port but wiggles side to side as if it were really loose. What can I do to fix this annoying wiggle.
Also the phone charges fine its just wiggly.

I believe that just might be the make of the Nexus 5, as my phone does the same thing.
Oh OK ..whew well that makes me feel much better...thought I had received a bad one. Thnx

I agree - the usb charging port is very wiggly! Try another cable.
I'm using the charging cable that came with the phone and there is lots of play in the connector - both vertical and horizontal. I will often have my phone plugged in while working with tasker and it seems the usb cable easily works itself loose as the phone is moved around.
It's rather disconcerting. I'm going to try another usb cable to see if it's any better to try to see if the problem is the port or the cable. What is it like on YOUR phone?
OK - I tried another cable and it is MUCH better! The usb cable that comes with the charger is a very loose fit. Try some other usb cables and report your findings. I'm using the one that came with my kindle and it's a much snugger fit.
Hi guys, finally received this beast of a phone after a few week's of waiting
Is anyone else having issues inserting the supplied charger into the nexus 5 port? Very afraid of charging this now since it's near impossible to get this in. Can anyone confirm if it's normal that the actual port is quite deep into the phone as is?
The thought of having pushed the port in deeper accidentally already would be a nightmare
Mine seems fine. A photo?

You are not alone, i'm here with you..
Ok now to the point, I have the same problem though its not a problem. What you need to do is carefully insert the cable while slightly pushing it upwards.. Its not misaligned or something.. It's very hard to get it in..

I find that if you angle the micro USB plug upward a bit, it seems to go in better.

Mine is definitely a tight fit but I still use my Samsung charger most of the time which goes in a bit easier

I find other chargers easier to insert.

Thanks very much guys.
I'm experiencing a huge problem with my N5 since yesterday. The speakers aren't working because the phone thinks that the headphones are plugged in. Due to this I can't make calls without headphones. Port itself is working fine. It happens on both 6.0 and Blisspop
Any help would be amazing
