Hello guys,
I want to JTAG my sensation xe and I have few questions that I hope you could help me with.
I want to understand how to connect the phone's motherboard to a power source.
I've seen this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I8bsUgfIlw
and those are my questions:
1. Why another exterior power is needed? why the usb cable connected between motherboard and PC isn't enough?
2. Do I have to connect the motherboard to a power supply or may I just connect the corner pins to the phone's battery?
3. Does the power supply need to have the voltage and the current of a regular Sensation XE Battery?
I just want to see things more cleary, I didn't find my answers on google.
Thank you!
SOLVED!!!

just follow my instruction and you will get your device alive (Like mine)
no need external power
it's verry easy
here
HTC SENSATION XE RIFF JTAG NO EXTERNAL POWER
EDIT:
If you have the JTAG adapter you don't need to solder any thing
and concerning the power supply, you don't need an additional power source, just the usb cable will do the job

no i don't, but maybe some devices require battery to be on
our htc sensation will turn on just by pluging usb cable
any way you can follow my guide to revive a fully dead htc sensation, other wise you can just do the regular resurrection method
and remember, just use usb cable no external power.
If the jtag won't recognize your phone, just set TCK frequency manualy in 1Mhz

Hello all!!!!
i was recently wondering about if it was possible to plug something into the micro USB port on my HTC EVO 4G and have the phone battery power the device i plugged into it. I keep referring to this as reverse power.
does anybody know if this is possible????
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks!!!!!!!
great question, i have wondered this myself, and i have no clue how.... anybody think they can help us???
It is not possible for your device to distribute power to another device through the micro usb input. As it serves as an input, and not an output for power.
can't he write an app which will put a logical 1 in a pin of the micro usb port?

I really wonder if that would be possible to use the phone as a powercharger. Maybe it's not just a software but a technical limitation?
the idea was to put a 5 Volts potential between 2 data pin of the micro usb port in order to power your accesory. But it seems that the Android sdk isn't enougth low level to send binary data in the micro usb port directly.
May be with the Android sdk 3.0 and Android Open Accesory Development or with the NDK.
And so sorry for my english, i'm trying to improve my skill.

that actually sounds possible!!!!!!!!!!!! any more ideas guys?
yeah i think this idea is really interesting.. but i don't think that the processor of the smartphone works with 5V, because the battery has only 3.7V so i think they work with 3.3V. but i don't know the processors.
sorry for my english ;-)

hummm
ok so i don't think it can be possible actually.
the micro usb port had to give 5v to the computeur for the comunication (because 5v is the logical 1) but he should use the power of the vcc pin.
if someone can confirm.
Hi guys - anyone know of a way without modifying a usb cable to make the desire draw full power from a USB socket, 1A instead of 500mA?
Cheers
Kev
No because the phone detects that its connected to a USB port because the 2 data pins are not shorted out ... u have to mod the wire. But then u wont be able to us the wire to connect the phone to ur pc

Excist a tut for this modification?

I seriously suggest that if you want a tutorial for shorting two lines of a USB cable then you shouldn't be attempting it at all.
Some motherboards can improve usb power up to 3x, but I don't know if it works with HTC Phones, I know that it works with Apple

True, my ASUS mobo supports it with iphone and ipad but not with iPod classic that i have though, weird.
nope, im fully aware how to short the data lines to get the 1A charge rate, but im sure there must be a Kernel mod that can enable this?
Prynhawn da, KevAmiga
Kernel mod for what?
The specification for USB is 500mA per port, some PC motherboards are able to provide more, but not so many. I mean the limitation is the PC side.
If you want more current, you need to bridge ports.
Regards
Some very new laptops like the recent Thinkpads privide an option where you can "convert" a USB port (the yellow painted one) to an always-on 1A USB port. I'm pretty sure it charges my Desire as fast as the standard AC adapter. On my older desktop pc though, there's no chance of enabling that, even though the MoBo does have USB3. It just takes ages..
I am also looking for a tut please. ^^
it takes ages to charge via laptop and sometimes I have no other options

Kernel mod is available. It charges full power from a usb 2.0. Gingercakes kernel. Desire development section.
USB cables have four wires. Two for data and two for power.
If you want to modify a cable so that the phone will try to draw full power, you just need to short out the two data lines. From this, the device will think it's attached to an AC source.
In most USB cables, the data lines are the green and blue/white ones. The red and black are power.
Can ANYONE know from where i can buy a motherboard for HTC sensation? Not the entire motherboard, i need only the logic-board (the pcb with USB connector) for a Sensation that unfortunately had a "bath" bad day...(the battery and LCD + digitizer are good - just test them with another Sensation.)
I must tell that the phone is out of warranty.
Thank you very much.

I don't know if i can post links, but if you google htc pyramid motherboard, you will find online stores who selling spare parts..
Can you send me a PM with those links?
Note: i DONT need the upper part (the one with flex cable) - like the one from attached picture.
You got PM.
Thank you very much but...as i said...i NOT need the board with flex cable. That is not logic board - that is the connection board to camera module, sensors, speaker, digitizer and buttons (power and volume).
I need the logic board = the bard with cpu/flash and USB conector...
Sorry, i readed your last post to fast.
The motherboard is hard to get on the inet. You could give it a try at a servicepoint of htc.? But they are always expensive.
I found one website, see pm, but they are crazy because a new sensation is cheaper than the motherboard.
Good luck mate.
A saw that ) It is logic that motherboard is from a new Sensation. When it is ordered, they take out the motherboard from Sensation and sell it. Also they are sale the other parts from that Sensation piece by piece...and that's how they get 500% profit from a phone ) isn't that cool or what?
I'll wait and keep search...

my boot is corrupt. I need to change the CID, but I can not connect the usb. I plugged into the cigarette lighter of a truck at 24V. For this reason I need the logic board.

No the hardware of HTC sensation is not suitable (till now observed) for giving output through otg cable.
Thats why whie using otg by SebastianFM kernel you need external power source.
No it's not possible.
The sensation's hardware doesn't support it.
Hello
When trying to replace front camera on my phone I broke the power flex cable.
After trying to solve this I found that if I short the battery "-" to the broken flex cable the phone starts.
Does anyone knows where does the power unit stands so that I can weld the power button directly to the right pin bypassing the flex cable??
Thank you!!!

The button that you see apart should be fixed to the flex cable next to it
