I'm new to the advanced features on Android. I am bored of waiting for 4.4.3 to be pushed via OTA to my Nexus 5.
So i was wondering if I side load the OTA zip via ADB with my locked boot-loader. Will side-loading the OTA prevent my Nexus 5 from receiving any further OTAs such as 4.5(or the next future version)? And is it safe?
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks
you are safe and secure good to go!

So it won't prevent me from getting the OTA via the normal source?

Is a OTA update on a Nexus 5 safe with root, or would it be safer just to flash the update?
Also, does anyone no the date of 4.4.3 in the EU?

I guess I'll prefer to wait for someone with the time and knowledge to do it !!! Thanks . Going to start reading a lot . If you are able to get root with that software please let me know
It didn't work. I flashed to stock, took the update, and tried it, but it was a no go.

Did you tryied both? Smart and regular?
Yup. Both processes state that they succeeded, but when I try to install SuperSU, it says that there is no superuser binary.

You could use Odin to install Lollipop from here. That should bring you to stock, beware though, you can't undo having tripped Knox (but I don't think most people care about that anymore)
I could just do it from the Samsung website, as well, right?

If someone running the latest AT&T update, IIRC 21p, could take a nandroid and upload the system, boot, and modem partitions it would help me out a lot.
Don't have a PC at the moment so I can't go back to stock to take the OTA for fear of losing root and custom recovery.
Preferably with no debloat or changes other than root (or Viper )
Thanks.
+1

Give me about an hour or two and I'll do a fresh install and upload it.

Thank you. That'll help out quite a bit.
I'm up and running on 20f, just waiting for the update to show up. When I search for updates it thinks I'm up to date.

My Atrix HD was slow like that.
Did you try *#*#checkin#*#*
Sometimes that'll make an OTA show up.
Still no luck, so I'm gonna try a factory reset.

Try taking out the SIM card and checking for the update on WiFi after a couple reboots. Works for me every time, of the update is 100% available.

No it wont, you have to pay to get it unlocked either by software or code.
Doesn't matter what firmware you use
OK thanks, now first find somewhere reasonable, last quote I got was £30!!!! Not paying that
