[Q] Katkiss 4.4.2 on TF101G - Hotspot not working - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all - great work, I love Katkiss
I run 4.4.2 023 on my old TF101G (took a while) with the 101G kernel and so far it works great.
I was able to make a 3G connection via PPPWidget and can now download / update everything, even through PlayStore.
One problem remains though. The 101G also served as a hotspot for my laptop at work and easily connected it via its own WIFI Hotspot.
The Hotspot can still be setup and activated in KatKiss, however no other phone or PC in range actually detects it....
What am I missing?
Thx in advance for all the help

I'm running 4.4.3_29 and seem to be having the same issue. Will try reflashing with the new 4.4.4_30 and try again.

[Q] No WiFi post-root issue

I finally understood how to root my Inspire to take it over to my pre-paid T-Mobile, but, now, I can't get to the internet via WiFi. I've tried my wifi, as well as other connections around me, with no luck. The only way I can get internet on my phone is if I use the passthrough option. I'm running the stock 2.2 OS with no ROMs. Have I done something wrong...?
Additional Info:
Forgot to mention that I used the ace-hack, Version 11A. Also, I can scan for wifi networks, and I can connect. I have a good signal, and I can login to my router and see the phone listed. The "Mobile network" setting has been disabled since I won't be using data with T-Mobile. I've turned on Airplane Mode and tried to get to the internet that way, and the same thing still happens; I can see the networks, and I can connect, but, I have no data coming in or going out.
Any luck? I just ran through the same version of ace hack 11 and I'm experiencing the same problem. I can connect to any wi-fi with an excellent signal, but can't connect to the internet.

No ): I ran through AceHack11A again for giggles, and, I still have the issue. I'm thinkin' I may have to install the stock AT&T radio, but, from what I understand of it, the radio has nothing to do with wifi.
I'll save you the trouble of installing the stock radio, already tried it. I was able to get things working though... here's basically my chronology of things:
- Did step one of the reverse CID, god the goldcard.img emailed to me, no problems
- Did step 2, downgraded. After the downgrade, I could still use wi-fi at this point without issue.
- Step 3... this is where the wifi internet issue was introduced.
- Connected to the internet with via my PC with USB cable.
- Ran the one of the programs that was installed in step 3: Rom Manager (while connected to the internet). It made me download and install Flash ClockworkMod (all done through the rom manager gui).
- I bought the full version of Rom Manager. I removed the free version that was installed, re-installed the updated free version, then bought the premium rom manager.
- Within ROM manager, clicked on Download ROM and downloaded the CyanogenMod rom (I went with the regular CyanogenMod, not the nightlies version). Installed it, and everything works great.
You can probably tell I'm a total newb to android, hence the annoyingly detailed description of what I did. Give it a go, maybe it will work for you?
same problem here, after root
update:
Ok, I fixed installing a stock ROM from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058042
Probably the problem has to be something with Rom Manager (is not present in the stock rom), I didn't check it anyway.
I have the same problem several days ago. I flashed the Revolution ROM, and it was resolved.

Hi, this is my first post on here. I searched the forums for this problem I just encountered that happened right after I plugged in my phone at work to get internet thru my PC using the data cable. At lunch time I went home and turned WiFi on and now it just keeps scanning and will not connect to my Wifi! It sees my WiFi which was working just fine since the day I brought it home. All this started because I wanted to try out using the data cable to get internet on my phone since my work doesn't have WiFi. I believe it has something to do with connecting thru the data cable pass-through connection. I am on stock ROM. I rooted the phone before but went back to stock ROM because it just seemed like too much maintenance for me at this time.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Am I going to have to flash back to original ROM to fix this?
I searched some more on there and only found this other topic but since I'm not at home at I cannot confirm if changing it to charge only and restarting will fix the WiFi problem that I am having! I'll try this out later.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973514
For anyone else having issues, please use this method.
NOTE: You DO NOT have to buy the full version of ROM Manager in order to fix the issue. The free version will work just fine.

[Q] Samsung s3 hardlock after a day?

Hi
I am an unhappy user of a Samsung S3 since yesterday. I have received the phone, unpacked it , charged it. It powered up ,worked fine. This is not my first Android device so i decided to root it after half an hour of use +/-.
Win7(64bit)/ Odin 1.85/ CF Root SGS6 v6.3. Rooted fine. Time for a new ROM ? think so too CWM recovery/BACK-UP installed CriskeloROM SIII ICS v2. Works fine, can receive calls make them, text message , browse net through 3G.
But the problem starts with wifi - it connects to my router, obtains an IP adress but there is no internet. LAN is connected because i can see other users on the network and access a GoFlex drive which is shared on the home network.
I was stupid enough to root the device before checking if the wifi worked, so i have no clue if it worked before i rooted and installed the custom ROM.
Anyone have any thoughts, on things i could carry out in order to get the wifi working?
p.s from the router side of things everything looks fine.
Here is some info which is completely useless to me , but might be usefull to you.
BASEBAND
I9300BULF1
KERNEL
3.0.15-671647
BUILD #

Thank you for any attempts to solve this problem

[Q] Wifi problems on Grimlock v2.2 ROM

Hi guys,
I'm pretty noob around here so if I ask you silly questions please don't bother.
The problem is, I fed up with my stock Asus firmware on my TF300TG and decided to install a custom rom.
Unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP 2.5.0.0 for custom recovery. Then i did research on xda and find out Grimlock V2.2 is suiting my daily usage.
I did factory reset, wipe dalvik cahce and installed Grimlock and everything went OK. But after I boot into Grimlock 3G worked but I can't open wi-fi.
I thought sometimes just rebooting fixes most of things, then I reboot my tablet. This time i can see wi-fi is connecting but it doesn't connect at all. You can't visit any website or download apps from Google Play. 3G works smooth though.
Than i tried to install with TF300 kernel, this time as expected 3G has gone but wi-fi works perfect.
So which kernel should I use or what should I do to use 3G and wi-fi at the same time.
Thank you!

I wonder if it was just a bad install. I haven't heard of anybody else having problems with the wifi with the TG kernel. I'd recommend to try and do a fresh install again, doing all wipes, and making sure to choose the kernel for the TF300TG.

Sorry to reply late, I was on a business trip and didn't have enough time to try this.
Anyway I tried it about 10min ago but wi-fi problem still exists.
Did all the wipes I can.

Are you able to take a logcat and send it to me? Most TG users are running this rom without issue.
I installed Grimlock 2.2 rom on my TF300TG. Before this, I had latest Asus firmware installed on, bootloader unlocked and rooted.
With this new firmware, when I poweron it, if I try to connect it using either 3g or wifi activating them, it can't connect (on wifi it founds my wifi network but can't obtain IP address).
If I activate 3g (or wifi) and reboot, then it connect successfully.

I would suggest 2 options:
1) Install CROMI instead of GRIMLOCK - NEWEST CROMI
2) Run the kernel installer by sbdags on the second post of the thread: KERNEL INSTALLER POST - Installing a TF300TG kernel in here should fix the wifi issues in GRIMLOCK. These kernels are all compatible with GRIMLOCK as well.

Hey hardslog. Thank you for your reply.
Before your reply I have flashed CROMI and testing it now. So far, so good But I think I will give GRIMLOCK another shoot using your advice
Can anyone tell me if I could run a stock Kernel on the 6.0.1 version of Katkiss? And if so, how do I load a kernel? I'm having wifi issues that were not there when I was on a stock rom.

You could flash a AOSP based custom rom (many good ones around) and try if that works better, make a nandroid backup of the CM rom so you can revert to it if you want.

[Q] Portable Wi-Fi hotspot & KK 4.4.4

I'm wondering if Portable Wi-Fi hotspot is supposed to work with [ROM][KK 4.4.4] [ KatKiss-KitKat #036 ] [Stable] [MultiWindow] by timduru? So far it doesn't for me... I'm getting:
E/hostapd : Configuration file: /data/misc/wifi/hostapd.conf
E/hostapd : nl80211: Failed to set interface wlan0 into AP mode
E/hostapd : nl80211 driver initialization failed.
E/hostapd : Failed to initialize interface
Also, where should I put -dd in order to get more info from hostapd?
There is already a similar thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2773320, but it seems it starts for them at least. Mine not even that.
It is because maybe you have tf101g not tf101, and you use kernel of tf101. My hotspot don't work when i have kernel tf101. Because, my tab is tf101g, and i use kernel of tf101. If i use kernel of tf101g, the hotspot will work ok
definitely not... I'm sure i have tf101. 10x anyway
Ok, install this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1985882 If you have installed. Flash back the kernel stock of rom. Maybe work. If not work, maybe tf101 not work hotspot, because they not come with 3g, and not come with hotspot. With stock kernel at my tf101g my hotspot work good.
Unfortunately mentioned kernel did nor resolve the issue, since it is practically the same as the one from the ROM. So... the question remains the same... is there anyone with timduru's KK 4.4.4 #036 on TF101 that has working Portable Wi-Fi hotspot?
BTW... what/why does Portable Wi-Fi hotspot have to do with/depends on 3G? My intention is not sharing mobile data access, but access files on TF101 from some other device without any wlan infrastructure. Or do I get something wrong?

I just try say, tf101 not come with hotspot. if your hotspot not work with any kernel stock of 4.4 or of page timduru. Install lolipop or re-flash or 4.4 if not. Sorry, your hotspot not work. I'm not saying for sharing 3g, you not have 3g to share.
